The 8 best beer fridges
1. NewAir 126-Can Freestanding Beverage Fridge: best overall indoor beer fridge
The NewAir 126-can beverage fridge is the most balanced option for a basement, bar, game room, office, or suitable garage. NewAir lists room for 126 standard cans, compressor cooling, seven temperature settings, a reversible glass door, adjustable shelving, and a target temperature of approximately 37°F. Those features cover the needs of most people who want a dedicated refrigerator for cans and bottles without remodeling a kitchen or bar.
#1 Best Overall
- Compact Size with Generous Storage: This 3.2 cu.ft mini fridge with freezer measures 18.7’’*17.4’’*33.1’’(W*D*H) , maximizes storage while maintaining a compact footprint. The interior includes a 0.3 cu.ft freezer compartment and 2.9 cu.ft refrigeration space, providing room for beverages, fruit, snacks. Ideal as a compact refrigerator for bedroom, dorm, office, or apartment
- Precise Cooling: Easily customize cooling with 5 adjustable temperature levels ranging from 32°F to 50°F (Not suitable for storing ice cream and ice cubes). This mini refrigerator keeps drinks chilled, fruits fresh, and dairy properly stored. The adjustable thermostat makes this small refrigerator with freezer suitable for different foods and seasonal temperature needs
- Quiet & Efficient: Operating at only 38 dB, this quiet mini fridge runs smoothly without disturbing sleep, study, or work. Designed for efficiency and Energy Star certified, it helps reduce electricity consumption while delivering reliable cooling performance, making it perfect for bedrooms, dorm rooms, and office spaces
- Flexible Storage: Designed for convenience, this compact fridge includes two adjustable glass shelves that allow flexible storage for bottles, cans, and taller food items. The reversible door design lets you choose left or right opening to better fit your space, making it a practical dorm refrigerator or office fridge
- Practical Details for Everyday Use: Thoughtfully designed features include a crisper drawer, tight door seal for better cooling retention, adjustable leveling feet for stability on uneven floors, and a defrost tool for easy maintenance. A versatile small refrigerator perfect for bedrooms, kitchens, offices, or dorm living
Its freestanding design is also an advantage when the appliance needs to be moved, replaced, or positioned away from a permanent cabinet run. The shelves can be adjusted for different drink formats, although the published 126-can figure assumes standard cans and an efficient arrangement.
Best for: Most indoor buyers who want a practical can-and-bottle refrigerator with a relatively cold beverage setting.
Watch-outs: This is not an outdoor-rated appliance and should not be treated as a built-in refrigerator. Leave the ventilation space specified by NewAir, and make sure the room falls within the operating conditions in the manual. See NewAir’s product documentation before planning a permanent location.
2. Danby DBC117A1BSSDB-6: best compact beer fridge for colder settings
The Danby DBC117A1BSSDB-6 is a strong choice when footprint and low-temperature capability matter more than maximum volume. Costco lists this freestanding beverage center at 3.1 cubic feet, with space for up to 117 beverage cans and a stated temperature range of 36°F to 50°F. It has adjustable wire shelves and a tempered-glass door.
The 36°F lower limit makes it particularly appealing to buyers who want a compact appliance focused on cold beverages rather than a wine-oriented cooler with a warmer minimum. It fits naturally in an apartment, rec room, basement, or home bar where a full 24-inch under-counter unit would be excessive.
Best for: A compact indoor setup where a published 36°F lower limit is a priority.
Watch-outs: Danby sells several similar beverage-center model numbers. Verify that the retailer is offering the exact DBC117A1BSSDB-6, then check the current warranty and return terms. Some older 120-can Danby listings may be discontinued; an older Danby product page illustrates why model-number verification matters. Review the retailer listing and current manufacturer information before ordering.

The Whynter BR-130SB is designed for buyers who need an upright beverage cooler without giving up shelf flexibility. It has compressor cooling, fan-forced internal circulation, five slide-out wire shelves, a reversible door, and a stainless-trimmed glass front. That combination works well in an apartment, office, entertainment room, or narrow home-bar location.
There is an important documentation discrepancy: the manual states a capacity of 120 standard 12-ounce cans, while the current product page markets the refrigerator as a 127-can model. The honest comparison is therefore approximately 120 to 127 standard cans—not a perfectly settled 127-can capacity. As with the other freestanding options, bottles and tall cans will reduce the practical total.
Best for: Buyers who need a relatively narrow upright beverage refrigerator with multiple removable shelves.
Watch-outs: It is a freestanding indoor model, not an outdoor refrigerator or a built-in unit. Confirm the dimensions, door-swing clearance, and the capacity shown for the exact revision you are buying. The current Whynter product page should be checked alongside the manual.
4. NewAir 70-Can, 20-Bottle Dual-Zone Beverage Fridge: best for beer and wine together
The dual-zone beer and wine fridge from NewAir is the most suitable pick when beer is only part of the storage plan. NewAir describes one zone as holding up to 70 standard beer or soda cans and the other as holding 20 wine bottles. Separate temperature controls let beer and wine use different settings, while the front-venting compressor design supports under-counter installation.
This is a better entertaining-space solution than a pure beer fridge when the appliance will be installed in a remodeled kitchen, wet bar, or built-in serving area. The two capacity figures describe different storage arrangements rather than a guaranteed simultaneous maximum of 70 cans plus 20 bottles. Shelf placement, bottle shape, and the desired temperature in each zone affect usable storage.

- Ample Storage - With a 10L capacity, this electric cooler can store up to 15 cans of your favorite beverages or snacks, keeping them chilled and ready to enjoy.
- Skincare Cooler - You can also use the interior space for skincare products and beauty tools, offering a refreshing twist to your daily routine.
- Portable & Secure - Compact and portable with a convenient carrying handle, this mini fridge cooler is perfect for on-the-go use, weighing only 6lbs. With a heavy-duty locking latch and door hinge, your items will stay securely stored wherever you take it.
- Modern Charm- Add a touch of elegance to your space with this compact mini cooler with a stylish brushed stainless steel door.
- Versatile Power Options - Equipped with cords for both a 12V car adapter and a home outlet, this cooler fridge offers flexible power options, ensuring you can use it wherever you go.
Best for: A kitchen or wet bar that needs organized beer, soda, and wine storage in one 24-inch appliance.
Watch-outs: Do not choose it solely because it is called a beverage fridge. Its mixed-storage layout makes it less efficient for someone who wants the largest possible beer inventory. Because it is intended to support under-counter installation, follow the manufacturer’s cutout, ventilation, electrical, hinge, and door-clearance instructions. See NewAir’s dual-zone specifications.

5. GE Profile PVS06BSPSS: best premium built-in or freestanding beverage center
The GE Profile 155-can beverage center is the strongest mainstream premium option for a substantial built-in-compatible installation. GE identifies the PVS06BSPSS as a 155-can or 52-bottle beverage center, giving buyers flexibility depending on whether the interior is arranged for cans or bottles.
Its 24-inch form factor makes it relevant to kitchen and bar renovations where the refrigerator will be integrated into cabinetry rather than simply placed beside it. GE’s support documentation identifies the model as manufactured from November 2020 to the present as of the reviewed information, but the exact installation requirements still need to be confirmed for the unit and cabinet design being ordered.
Best for: Buyers who want a higher-capacity beverage center from an established appliance line and have a planned built-in or freestanding location.
Watch-outs: The 155-can and 52-bottle figures are alternative maximum configurations, not simultaneous capacities. Before ordering, confirm the cabinet cutout, front ventilation, hinge clearance, power location, and whether the door orientation works with adjacent drawers or appliances. Use the GE Profile support page for the current specification and installation documentation.

For an outdoor kitchen, patio bar, or grilling area, the outdoor 160-can beverage fridge from NewAir is the capacity-focused choice. NewAir specifies room for 160 standard cans, 304-grade stainless-steel construction, adjustable shelves, an auto-closing door, a lock, casters, and cooling down to 32°F. It can be installed as either a built-in or freestanding appliance, and the manufacturer describes it as designed for outdoor conditions that can include heat, rain, ice, and snow.
The outdoor rating is the central reason to consider this model. An indoor beverage refrigerator may have a finished exterior and a glass door, but that does not make it suitable for an exposed patio. Outdoor refrigeration involves the cabinet materials, refrigeration system, weather exposure, and installation details as a package.
Best for: Outdoor kitchens and large gatherings where high beverage capacity is more important than a compact indoor footprint.
Watch-outs: Outdoor-rated does not mean install-anywhere. Protect the electrical connection, provide the clearances and ventilation required by the manual, and account for drainage, weather exposure, cabinet dimensions, and door clearance. Do not confuse this outdoor model with NewAir’s separate indoor 160-can refrigerator. Check the NewAir outdoor product documentation before designing the enclosure.
7. Dometic EA24B: best premium outdoor beverage center
The Dometic EA24B outdoor beverage center is aimed at a more permanent, premium outdoor-kitchen installation. Dometic describes it as a 24-inch, 5.3-cubic-foot outdoor beverage center with an outdoor-rated refrigeration system, full stainless-steel construction, low-E double-pane UV-tinted glass, two adjustable stainless-steel shelves, and a zero-clearance hinge design.
The zero-clearance hinge is especially relevant when planning cabinetry because door hardware can otherwise interfere with adjacent panels. Dometic also lists a two-year parts-and-labor warranty and five years on the sealed system. Those terms should still be confirmed for the buyer’s region and the final retailer listing.
Best for: A high-end outdoor kitchen where stainless construction, UV protection, hinge planning, and long-term built-in integration justify a higher purchase price.

- 【Large 3.2 Cu Ft Capacity with 0.35 Cu Ft Freezer Compartment】Perfect as a compact mini fridge for your bedroom, office, or dorm room, this small refrigerator offers 3.2 cu ft (91L) of total space. It features a dedicated 0.35 cu ft upright freezer compartment that reaches temperatures between -14°C to -24°C (-6°F to -11°F)*, ideal for making ice cubes and storing everyday frozen goods. The main chiller area provides ample room for beverages, groceries, and meal prep.
- 【Energy Efficient & Cost-Saving Daily Use】Designed for economy, this mini refrigerator consumes an average of only 0.6 kWh per day, with an estimated daily running cost of about $0.10*. This makes our small fridge a perfect solution for any corner of your apartment, bedroom, or office.
- 【Optimized Storage & Precise Temperature Control】This mini fridge with freezer features adjustable shelves and door bins for flexible organization. The clear temperature dial is simple to use—set it to the recommended “3” for ideal conditions for most foods. The separate upright freezer compartment is best for ice making and short-term frozen storage, keeping items organized and accessible.
- 【Durable Build & Easy Maintenance for Long-Term Reliability】Built as a reliable dorm fridge or mini fridge for office, its sturdy construction stands up to everyday use. The manual defrost process is straightforward, and the interior is easy to clean. Backed by ETL safety certification and operating on standard 115V/60Hz power, it ensures peace of mind and long-term reliability.
Watch-outs: The reviewed Dometic specification does not provide a standard-can capacity, so it should not be ranked directly against 160-can models on capacity alone. Measure the available opening and compare the installation manual with the outdoor-kitchen cabinet plan. The Dometic EA24B product page is the appropriate source for current installation and warranty details.
8. BLACK+DECKER BBD20HS: best beer fridge for draft-beer drinkers
The BLACK+DECKER BBD20HS kegerator is not a conventional can-and-bottle beverage center. It is a dual-tap kegerator for dispensing beer from a keg, with a listed 6.1-cubic-foot capacity, stainless construction, and a chilling range of 35.6°F to 50°F. When a keg is not installed, BLACK+DECKER says it can convert to a regular refrigerator with two wire shelves.
This is the right category for someone who values draft service more than maximum can storage. It can also be useful for a household that alternates between keg service and ordinary refrigerator use, but conversion does not eliminate the equipment and maintenance required for draft beer.
Best for: Home bars and entertaining spaces where serving beer from one or two kegs is the main goal.
Watch-outs: Budget and plan for a compatible keg coupler, CO2 cylinder and regulator, beer lines, faucets, and routine cleaning. Hardware varies by keg type and draft system, so verify compatibility rather than buying accessories solely by appearance. The BLACK+DECKER product page identifies the model’s published features.

Beer fridge or kegerator?
Choose a standard beverage refrigerator if you primarily buy cans and bottles, want the simplest installation, or need flexible shelves for mixed drinks. Choose a kegerator if dispensing draft beer is the reason you are buying the appliance and you are prepared to manage CO2, beer-line sanitation, keg storage, and compatible couplers.
The BLACK+DECKER BBD20HS offers some flexibility because it can be used as a regular refrigerator when the keg is removed. It is still a specialized draft system, however, and is not the most efficient choice for someone who never plans to buy a keg.
Useful kegerator accessories
If you choose the BLACK+DECKER model, the directly relevant accessories are a compatible keg coupler, a CO2 regulator for kegerator, a kegerator cleaning kit, and a beer line replacement kit. Confirm the keg type, connection standard, regulator range, tubing size, and manufacturer guidance before purchasing. Draft equipment is not universally interchangeable.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose the right beer fridge
1. Decide whether it will be freestanding or built in
Start with the installation type, before comparing can counts. A freestanding refrigerator needs the ventilation space specified around its cabinet and is easier to relocate. A built-in-capable refrigerator generally vents through the front and is designed to work beneath a counter when installed according to its manual.

A finished exterior, stainless trim, or glass door does not prove that a unit can be enclosed in cabinetry. The NewAir dual-zone unit and GE Profile PVS06BSPSS are the built-in-relevant options in this list; the NewAir outdoor 160-can model and Dometic EA24B are intended for outdoor built-in or freestanding applications. Verify the exact installation classification before cutting a cabinet opening.
2. Check the published temperature range
The word beverage is not a temperature specification. For a beer-focused purchase, look for the lowest published setting and confirm that it applies to the zone you intend to use. The Danby DBC117A1BSSDB-6 is listed at 36°F–50°F, the BLACK+DECKER kegerator at 35.6°F–50°F, and the NewAir 126-can model advertises a target of approximately 37°F.
Dual-zone units may have one warmer zone intended for wine. If every shelf will hold beer, a single-zone model with a clearly stated low setting may be a better fit than a wine-and-beer appliance with more complicated capacity trade-offs.
3. Treat outdoor rating as a hard requirement
For an exposed patio or outdoor kitchen, select a model whose documentation explicitly addresses outdoor use. The NewAir 160-can outdoor model and Dometic EA24B are the outdoor-specific recommendations here. Do not substitute an indoor beverage refrigerator simply because it fits the opening or has a stainless-steel door.
Outdoor installation still requires planning. Before framing or ordering cabinetry, confirm the permitted ambient-temperature range, required clearances, ventilation path, electrical protection, surface drainage, weather exposure, and door swing. If the appliance will be integrated into a new outdoor kitchen, compare an outdoor kitchen beverage refrigerator installation plan with the cabinet layout rather than treating the refrigerator as a last-minute insert.
4. Translate can capacity into usable capacity
Published can counts are maximums based on specified formats, usually standard 12-ounce cans arranged efficiently. Tall cans, bottles, crowlers, growlers, mixed beverages, and wider shelf spacing all reduce the practical total. A refrigerator advertised at 126 cans may hold considerably fewer drinks in a real mixed collection.

- [Versatile Power Options] This skincare fridge includes plugs for both standard home outlets and 12V car chargers. Modern cooling makes the small refrigerator consume less power than most laptops, with innovative safety technology that is ETL certified for long-lasting durability
For a renovation, measure the drinks you actually buy and check shelf spacing. Adjustable shelves are more valuable if the fridge will hold bottles, large cans, mixers, or food alongside standard cans. In dual-zone models, remember that can and bottle capacities generally describe alternative arrangements.
5. Plan the door swing and service access
Measure more than the cabinet width. Check the hinge side, reversible-door options, handle projection, adjacent drawer and appliance conflicts, and how far the door must open to remove shelves. The Whynter BR-130SB and NewAir 126-can models offer reversible-door designs; Dometic’s EA24B uses a zero-clearance hinge design. Those features help, but they do not replace a complete clearance check.

A built-in refrigerator that is tightly boxed into finished cabinetry may be difficult to remove if the compressor, controls, or sealed system ever needs attention.
6. Do not rank noise or durability without testing evidence
Manufacturer specifications can identify cooling type, materials, shelves, and installation classification, but they do not establish independent noise measurements, long-term reliability, or durability. This list makes no hands-on testing or ownership claim. If the fridge will sit beside a bed, desk, or seating area, look for independent reviews that report measured noise rather than relying on a marketing adjective.
7. Confirm the exact model, warranty, and stock
Model numbers matter in beverage refrigeration because manufacturers often sell visually similar units with different temperature ranges, dimensions, capacities, and installation ratings. Check the exact suffix, current manual, retailer return policy, warranty coverage, and delivery condition before purchase. Prices and inventory are especially volatile for large appliances.
Installation checklist for a beer fridge
- Confirm the classification: freestanding, built-in-capable, outdoor-rated, or kegerator.
- Measure the opening: record width, height, depth, trim, handle, and hinge clearances.
- Follow the manual: use its ventilation, ambient-temperature, leveling, and electrical requirements rather than a generic cabinet dimension.
- Plan the door: verify hinge side, reversible-door instructions, and shelf-removal clearance.
- Protect the power connection outdoors: use the electrical protection and weather-resistant installation required by local code and the appliance documentation.
- Keep service possible: do not permanently trap the unit behind non-removable panels.
- For kegerators, plan the draft system: allow room for the keg, CO2 equipment, lines, taps, cleaning access, and ventilation.
- Test before finishing cabinetry: confirm cooling, door operation, shelf fit, and electrical function before closing the surrounding installation.
For a remodel or outdoor kitchen, obtain an itemized quote for under-counter beverage center installation if the appliance requires cabinet modification, electrical work, weatherproofing, or delivery coordination. Installation requirements vary by model and location, so the appliance manual and local code should control the final plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a freestanding beer fridge under a counter?
Not unless the manufacturer explicitly identifies that model as built-in-capable and provides installation instructions for enclosed cabinetry. Freestanding units need ventilation space around the cabinet; placing one in a tight opening can cause improper operation or create a service problem.
What temperature should a beer fridge reach?
Look at the appliance’s published lower limit rather than its general beverage-fridge label. The Danby DBC117A1BSSDB-6 is listed at 36°F–50°F, the BLACK+DECKER BBD20HS at 35.6°F–50°F, and NewAir lists approximately 37°F for its 126-can model. The actual setting you choose depends on the beer and your preference.
Do I need an outdoor beer fridge for a covered patio?
If the appliance will be exposed to outdoor ambient conditions, choose a model explicitly rated for outdoor use. A roof or covered patio does not automatically give an indoor refrigerator the weather-resistant construction or outdoor-rated refrigeration system it needs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIs a beer fridge better than a kegerator?
A beverage refrigerator is better for cans and bottles and usually involves simpler installation. A kegerator is better when draft dispensing is the priority, but it requires compatible keg hardware, CO2 equipment, beer-line cleaning, and enough room for the keg and draft system.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy the NewAir 126-can model for the simplest all-around indoor beer-fridge choice. Choose the Danby for a compact unit with a 36°F lower setting, the NewAir dual-zone or GE Profile for a planned indoor built-in, the NewAir 160-can or Dometic EA24B for an explicitly outdoor installation, and the BLACK+DECKER BBD20HS only when draft beer is the main purpose. Verify the exact model, temperature range, clearances, outdoor rating, warranty, and current stock before ordering.
