Important: this is a historical guide to the UK deals TechRadar reported on January 1, 2025. The prices, stock, retailer links and promotional terms below are not current August or September 2026 offers unless independently rechecked. The original roundup covered televisions, laptops, headphones, wearables, appliances, cameras, gaming hardware and accessories, with several offers dependent on cashback, trade-in or mobile contracts.

Quick verdict
The strongest headline offers in the January 1, 2025 roundup were the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones at £175, the LG B4 48-inch OLED TV at £699 and the Ninja Air Fryer Pro at £98.98. They were not automatically the best choices for everyone: the Sony headphones were older than the XM5, the LG was a relatively small OLED, and the Ninja was a single-drawer model aimed at smaller households.

TechRadar warned that many offers were carryovers from the 2024 Boxing Day sales and could disappear after the first week of January. That warning is important now: this page should be treated as an archive of January 2025 pricing, not as a live shopping list.

TV deals
TCL 55V6BK: cheap 4K streaming
The TCL 55V6BK was listed at £258, reduced from £298. It offered a 55-inch 4K display, HDR10 and Android TV. Its appeal was straightforward: a large screen and familiar streaming features at a low price.
This was not a premium cinema or gaming television. The price alone does not establish strong brightness, motion handling, viewing angles, local dimming or low input lag. It made most sense for everyday streaming where budget mattered more than HDR impact or high-end console performance.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Hisense A6N: inexpensive Dolby Vision and HDR10+
The 50-inch Hisense A6N was reported at £259, down from £329, with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. Those formats are useful, but their presence does not guarantee an impressive HDR picture. Brightness, contrast, panel behaviour and processing matter just as much.
It was a sensible size-and-price option for a buyer wanting a 4K streaming TV without moving into OLED pricing. Verify the exact regional model before buying, since specifications and smart-TV platforms can vary by suffix.
LG B4 48-inch OLED: the most compelling TV deal
The LG B4 was listed at £699 and positioned as an accessible route into OLED. It offered OLED contrast and deep blacks, plus 4K/120Hz gaming, Dolby Vision gaming and variable refresh rate support.
It was particularly attractive for films and console gaming, but there were practical limits:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- A 48-inch screen may look small from a long viewing distance.
- OLED can be less suitable than a bright LCD for a very bright room.
- Buyers who display static logos, desktop interfaces or news tickers for long periods should consider long-term image-retention and burn-in risk.
- Check the warranty wording and retailer returns policy.
TechRadar described the price as a record low at the time. That was a time-limited historical claim and should not be carried over to a current deal page without fresh price tracking.
Laptop deals
The laptop selection ranged from basic Windows machines to premium OLED and ARM-based models. Comparing them only by discount percentage would be misleading; the right choice depends on workload, storage, screen quality, software compatibility and how long the machine must last.
| Model and reported price | Reported configuration | Best suited to | Main caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lenovo IdeaPad 3 — £249 | 15.6-inch, Core i3, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage | Email, documents and streaming | 128GB storage is restrictive and performance is entry-level. |
| Acer Aspire 3 — £329 | 15.6-inch, Ryzen 3, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD | Basic everyday computing | The 128GB drive can fill quickly. |
| Asus Zenbook 14 — £359.99 | 14-inch, Core i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD | Portable general use | Verify the processor generation and exact SKU. |
| Asus Vivobook 15 OLED — £579.99 | 15.6-inch, Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage | Media and creative work | Display and performance depend on the precise configuration. |
| Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge — £599 | 15.6-inch, Snapdragon X Plus, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage | Battery-focused Windows use | Check ARM compatibility and storage capacity. |
| Asus Vivobook S15 — £799 | 15.6-inch, Ryzen 9, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage | Demanding productivity | Cooling, display and exact processor affect its value. |
| Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 — £1,040 | 15-inch touchscreen, Snapdragon X Elite | Premium portable work | Some applications, games, drivers and peripherals may behave differently on ARM Windows. |
| Asus Zenbook S16 OLED — £1,499.99 | 16-inch, Ryzen AI 9, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage | Creative and demanding workloads | Check the processor generation and graphics capability before paying a premium. |
How to judge the laptop offers
- Below £300: expect light-use performance. Avoid 128GB storage if you keep large files or applications locally.
- Mainstream value: 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD are a more practical minimum for many buyers than a cheaper 128GB configuration.
- Creative work: prioritise RAM, SSD capacity, screen quality and sustained performance rather than the processor name alone.
- ARM Windows: confirm compatibility with specialist software, older games, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
- Premium systems: compare with current-generation alternatives rather than relying on the stated former price.
Air fryers and kitchen appliances
Ninja Air Fryer Pro
The single-drawer Ninja Air Fryer Pro was listed at £98.98, down from £129.99. It had four preset cooking functions and was aimed at one or two people.
Its main advantage was compactness. A single drawer is easier to fit in a smaller kitchen, but it is less convenient when you need to cook two foods at different temperatures or finish a complete family meal at once.
Ninja Double Stack
The Ninja Double Stack was listed at £189.99, reduced from £230. It offered 7.6 litres across two baskets, six preset functions and two independent cooking zones.
The article repeated an “up to 55% faster than a fan oven” claim. Treat that as a manufacturer or retailer claim, not a universal test result: cooking time varies with the food, quantity, starting temperature, basket loading and whether both drawers finish together.
Before buying a dual-drawer model, check usable basket dimensions rather than relying only on the headline litre figure. Also consider cleaning, noise, counter depth, energy use and whether both drawers can synchronise their finish times.
The broader home-and-kitchen selection also included a Shark Stratos cordless vacuum, Breville sandwich maker and Ninja Creami ice-cream maker. Their suitability depends heavily on replacement accessories, cleaning requirements, storage space and the cost of consumables.
Audio, wearables and health products
- Sony WF-C700N: true-wireless earbuds for buyers wanting a smaller, cheaper audio option.
- Sony WH-1000XM4: over-ear noise-cancelling headphones at a historically attractive £175. They remained capable, but buyers should compare battery condition, multipoint support and pricing against newer models.
- Fitbit Charge 6: a fitness tracker whose phone compatibility and subscription-linked features should be checked before purchase.
- Fitbit Sense 2: a smartwatch-style health tracker. Manufacturer battery estimates, including claims of six or more days, may differ from real-world use.
- Oura Ring Generation 3 Horizon: the apparent hardware discount needs to be considered alongside the recurring membership cost and phone compatibility.
- Oral-B Pro 3: an electric toothbrush where replacement brush-head prices and availability matter as much as the initial discount.
Gaming deals
PlayStation 5 Pro
The reported lowest price depended on trading in an existing PS5. That means it was not an unconditional cash discount. Check the eligible console, condition requirements, valuation, deadline and whether accessories or games affect the trade-in value.
Also remember that the PS5 Pro’s disc-drive requirements differ from a standard disc-equipped PS5. Buyers who own physical games or watch 4K Blu-rays should include the cost and availability of the separate drive when comparing systems.
PSVR 2 Horizon bundle
The PlayStation VR2 bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain was listed at £349.99. Its appeal was that the bundle reportedly matched the headset-only price at the time, making the game an added benefit rather than a separate purchase.
Check the contents carefully: game-bundle redemption terms, required console hardware, available play space and the cost of additional controllers or games all affect the real value.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
The roundup also included Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Game pricing is particularly volatile, so the platform, edition, included content and online-service requirements should be verified before purchase.

Galaxy Z Fold 6
The EE offer advertised a saving of £730 through cashback and reportedly did not require a trade-in. Cashback is not the same as an immediate reduction: check the claim process, eligibility, payment timing, contract length and total monthly cost.
For any foldable, also consider insurance, repair costs, screen durability and whether the contract’s total price is competitive with buying the handset separately.
Galaxy S24 Ultra with Chromebook Go
The free Chromebook Go was tied to specified Galaxy S24 Ultra mobile contracts. Compare the full contract cost with the handset’s cash price and treat the Chromebook as a bundle benefit rather than a free item with no conditions.

Nikon Z6 III
The Nikon Z6 III was listed at £1,999 through Jessops. That figure must be checked against whether the offer was body-only or included a lens. A camera body is only part of the ownership cost: lenses, batteries, memory cards, bags and insurance can substantially change the final budget.
Check that a camera is supplied by an authorised UK seller rather than a grey importer, especially when comparing warranty coverage and returns.
Anker PowerCore Essential 20,000
The Anker power bank was included as a lower-cost accessory deal. A nominal 20,000mAh capacity does not translate directly into the same capacity delivered to a phone because of conversion losses. Actual recharge counts depend on the phone battery, charging protocol, cable and power-bank condition.
The full product range covered
The roundup’s categories included the following products:
- Fitness and health: Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Sense 2, Oura Ring Generation 3 Horizon and Oral-B Pro 3.
- Audio: Sony WF-C700N and Sony WH-1000XM4.
- TVs: TCL 55V6BK, Hisense A6N and LG B4 48-inch OLED.
- Laptops: Lenovo IdeaPad 3, Acer Aspire 3, Asus Zenbook 14, Asus Vivobook 15 OLED, Asus Zenbook S16 OLED, Asus Vivobook S15, Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge and Microsoft Surface Laptop 7.
- Phones: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra contract bundle with a Chromebook Go.
- Gaming: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, PlayStation 5 Pro and the PlayStation VR2 Horizon bundle.
- Home and kitchen: Shark Stratos cordless vacuum, Breville sandwich maker, Ninja Creami, Ninja Air Fryer Pro and Ninja Double Stack.
- Photography and accessories: Anker PowerCore Essential 20,000 and Nikon Z6 III.
The original page described the selection as 30 deals. Retailer modules, bundles and expired entries can change, so the original TechRadar page remains the authoritative source for the historical list.
How to verify a deal before buying
- Match the exact model number. Check the processor, RAM, storage, panel type, tuner, operating system, accessories, keyboard layout and plug.
- Confirm the real checkout price. Separate an unconditional reduction from cashback, trade-in credit, a coupon, membership pricing or a contract.
- Check the seller. Marketplace sellers, imports and refurbished products can have different warranties and returns.
- Compare recent pricing. A percentage saving against an RRP or retailer “was” price may not reflect the product’s normal street price.
- Calculate ownership cost. Include lenses, brush heads, filters, subscriptions, replacement batteries, delivery, installation, finance interest and optional accessories.
- Read the terms. Pay particular attention to cashback deadlines, trade-in condition, contract duration, free-gift eligibility and bundle redemption.
