The Tanaka TCG27EBSP is a gasoline grass trimmer and brush cutter whose documented strengths include useful power and vibration control, while a 2018 reviewer criticized its balance and feature set for the price. That assessment is historical, not a current head-to-head test or a recommendation for every buyer. If you are considering a used unit, first confirm its condition, the exact model suffix, and whether compatible parts are accessible locally.
What the 2018 review found
OPE Reviews published its Tanaka TCG27EBSP review on August 29, 2018. It gave the machine an overall 7.0/10, with category ratings of 8.2 for power, 7.8 for efficiency, 7.6 for ergonomics, 4.9 for feature set, and 6.6 for value. These are the reviewer’s ratings, not measured specifications or current comparative test results. Read the OPE Reviews assessment.
The reviewer described the tool as commercial-grade and two-stroke. In use, the anti-vibration system helped reduce rattling, but the trimmer did not feel particularly well-balanced. Operation was considered tolerable, though several competing trimmers felt better in hand. The review also judged its feature set disappointing relative to its price at the time. Those observations can help frame an inspection or comparison, but they do not establish how a particular used machine performs today.
Specifications: check the exact model suffix
The owner’s manual covers several related TCG24 and TCG27 models, including suffix variations. Its specification table lists 26.9 cc displacement for the TCG27 family and lists an NGK BMR7A spark plug in the model-family specifications. Because those entries cover multiple variants, verify the model label and the matching manual before applying a specification to a TCG27EBSP, TCG27EBSP(SL), or EBDP unit. Consult the TCG27EBSP owner manual.

What line fits the documented cutting head?
For the semi-automatic head listed in the manual, the specified consumable is flexible, non-metallic nylon line measuring 2.4 mm (3/32 in), supplied as a 4 m length. The manual lists head code numbers 6696454 and 6698639, counterclockwise rotation, and an M10×P1.25-LH attachment thread. It specifies line length of 11–14 cm before operation. These details apply to the documented head; inspect the head installed on your trimmer and check the correct regional manual before ordering. See the manual’s operating instructions.

Parts, service, and buying a used unit
A model-specific exploded parts list and a retailer catalog can help identify components, but a catalog listing does not establish current inventory, local availability, or guaranteed fit for every regional variant. Use the unit’s model label and part identification to confirm a match before purchasing. View the TCG27EBSP parts list and check the retailer’s model catalog.

For a used machine, assess the individual unit rather than relying on its original review score. Check cold starting and operation, inspect the cutting head and guards, and look for vibration or damage. Consider whether replacement parts and suitable service are available where you live. The published assessment does not establish present-day pricing or condition, so value depends on the price and state of the specific machine, your workload, and the cost and availability of parts.
