SwitchBot’s CES 2026 announcements split into two very different propositions: the onero H1, an ambitious wheeled household robot with articulated arms, and the more immediately practical Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro, smart deadbolts that use facial recognition for entry.
The locks appear closer to ordinary consumer availability. The H1 is the more significant robotics statement, but SwitchBot’s US product page currently marks it unavailable even while displaying a $9,999 price. That figure should therefore be treated as a product-page signal rather than confirmed final retail pricing.

What SwitchBot announced at CES 2026
SwitchBot presented the products as part of its broader “Smart Home 2.0” strategy, which focuses on physical AI: systems that can sense and act in the real world rather than simply control lights, switches, or appliances.

What is the onero H1?
The onero H1 is a wheeled household robot with a humanoid-style upper body, articulated arms, and hands. It is designed to move through existing homes and manipulate everyday objects instead of performing one narrowly defined task such as vacuuming.
SwitchBot describes the H1 as its first universal humanoid household robot. In practical terms, however, it is better understood as a mobile manipulation platform: it has humanlike arms for household work, but it travels on wheels rather than legs.
That design could make the robot more stable, energy-efficient, and mechanically simpler than a bipedal machine. It also creates immediate limits. A wheeled robot cannot climb stairs, may struggle with thick rugs and thresholds, and needs enough clearance to turn around furniture and through doorways. A home that works well for a robotic arm may still be difficult for its mobile base.
Omni Sense VLA
SwitchBot says the H1 uses its Omni Sense VLA system. The company describes this as a combination of:
- Vision for identifying objects and surroundings.
- Depth awareness for judging distance and spatial relationships.
- Touch or tactile feedback for detecting contact and grip.
- Language understanding for translating instructions into action plans.
- Real-time movement optimisation and learning.
The purpose is to reduce dependence on rigid, pre-programmed routines. A vision-language-action system may help a robot interpret a request such as “put the clean clothes away,” locate the relevant objects, plan a sequence, and adjust its movements as conditions change. It does not, by itself, guarantee human-level reasoning, reliable autonomy, or safe performance in every home.
Secondary CES coverage reported that the H1 has 22 degrees of freedom. Degrees of freedom describe the independent axes of movement available to a mechanism; they do not measure strength, dexterity, speed, intelligence, reliability, or its ability to complete an entire chore. That figure should be treated as a reported specification until confirmed in final official documentation.

What can the H1 do?
SwitchBot positions the robot for tasks including laundry and dishwashing. CES reports described demonstrations involving actions such as:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Loading a washing machine.
- Folding and storing clothes.
- Filling a coffee machine.
- Preparing breakfast.
- Washing windows.
- Grasping, pushing, opening, and organising household objects.
These should be described as company demonstrations or stated capabilities—not proof that the H1 can reliably perform all of those tasks without supervision in an ordinary home.
Household environments vary considerably. Clothing is soft and deformable, dishes can be wet and fragile, kitchen appliances differ in layout, and windows may require different pressures and tools. Hot pans, sharp utensils, spilled liquids, children, pets, and clutter introduce safety problems that a controlled demonstration does not resolve.
The reality check for a construction or renovation project
The H1’s wheeled architecture makes the physical design of a home especially important. Buyers considering future household robots should pay attention to:
- Level changes: stairs and steps remain fundamental barriers.
- Thresholds: door saddles, raised transitions, and uneven flooring can impede movement.
- Clearances: narrow corridors, tight kitchens, and crowded utility rooms may prevent turning or positioning.
- Floor finishes: thick rugs, loose mats, wet surfaces, and highly uneven floors may reduce traction.
- Storage: handles, shelves, cupboards, and appliances must be reachable by both the robot’s arms and its base.
- Safety zones: kitchens, staircases, workshops, and areas used by children or pets need careful consideration.
SwitchBot also presents the H1 as working alongside specialised robots, including floor-cleaning devices. That suggests a division of labour rather than one machine replacing every existing smart-home product: the H1 would handle manipulation while specialised robots continue to clean floors or perform other repeatable jobs.
Availability and price of the onero H1
As of the supplied August 18, 2026 product-page snapshot, SwitchBot’s US H1 page displayed $9,999 but marked the product unavailable. A Canadian page showed CA$0 alongside preorder or notification controls, which is not a meaningful consumer price.

Accordingly, the H1 should not be described as a broadly available appliance. Before considering an order, buyers would need confirmation of shipping dates, whether a preorder is refundable, what the price includes, installation and delivery arrangements, warranty coverage, software support, repair procedures, battery servicing, and the level of human supervision expected.
Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro
The Lock Vision products take a more familiar smart-home form: a deadbolt system with facial-recognition entry. SwitchBot markets the range around 3D structured-light facial recognition. Secondary CES coverage says the system uses more than 2,000 infrared projection points to create a three-dimensional facial map and includes liveness detection intended to resist photo- and video-based spoofing.
Claims such as “world’s first” should remain attributed to SwitchBot or its representatives. Liveness detection can make simple replay attacks harder, but it is not the same as an independently audited guarantee that the lock cannot be deceived.

Facial recognition: convenience versus security
Face unlock can be convenient when a resident is carrying groceries, but front-door biometrics introduce questions that do not arise with a traditional key or keypad.
SwitchBot-related reporting says biometric information is stored locally and that the system uses 3D liveness detection. Local storage may reduce some cloud-related exposure, but it does not make a device completely private or immune to compromise. Buyers should look for clear answers about:
- Where facial templates are stored and encrypted.
- Whether any images or diagnostic data leave the lock or phone.
- How biometric profiles are deleted.
- What happens if the associated account is compromised.
- Performance in darkness, rain, glare, snow, or when wearing a mask.
- False acceptance and false rejection rates.
- Access for children, visitors, cleaners, landlords, and emergency responders.
- Operation after battery failure or network loss.
Makeup, glasses, hats, facial hair, injury, ageing, and changing light can all affect recognition. Facial entry should therefore be treated as one access method, not the only one.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Backup entry methods
Lock Vision’s product page lists six access methods:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Time-limited passcodes.
- Widgets.
- Apple Watch.
- NFC.
- Family Sharing.
- A physical key.
These fallbacks are central to the product’s practicality. Before installation, confirm how the lock is powered in an emergency, whether temporary credentials can be issued without enrolling a visitor’s face, and what users should do if a phone is lost, a battery is depleted, or facial recognition fails.

Matter and smart-home compatibility
Matter over Wi-Fi is one of the Lock Vision range’s most useful specifications. SwitchBot says the lock can connect directly to Apple Home without a separate SwitchBot hub and supports Siri voice unlocking.
Matter does not mean every platform exposes every feature. Basic lock control may be available through a compatible smart-home platform while facial recognition, biometric management, advanced automations, or firmware controls remain dependent on SwitchBot’s app or specific hardware. Buyers should verify support for Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and Home Assistant for the exact model and firmware version before purchase.

The onero H1 is aimed at robotics enthusiasts, researchers, smart-home early adopters, and buyers willing to accept uncertainty around availability, service, software, and real-world reliability. It is a poor fit for anyone expecting a dependable replacement for a cleaner, carer, or appliance.
Lock Vision may suit a homeowner who wants hands-free entry, has a compatible deadbolt, and is comfortable with biometric access. Lock Vision Pro is more relevant to buyers who value its additional access features or the video-doorbell bundle rather than simply needing basic smart-lock control.
Neither product is an obvious fit for renters unable to modify their lock, homes whose main circulation route includes stairs, users unwilling to enrol biometric profiles, or buyers who want mature service and repair infrastructure.
Bottom line
SwitchBot’s CES 2026 announcement is best understood as two different levels of product maturity. The onero H1 is an ambitious vision for a general-purpose home robot: its arms, sensors, and Omni Sense VLA system could eventually make it useful for tasks that specialised robots cannot perform. But its wheeled design imposes real architectural limits, and its CES demonstrations do not establish reliable unsupervised autonomy.
The Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro are closer to conventional consumer products, with clearer listed prices, installation claims, backup access methods, and Matter connectivity. Their facial-recognition and privacy claims still deserve careful scrutiny, but they present a much more immediate buying decision than the H1.
For most homeowners today, the locks are the practical announcement. The H1 is the larger statement about where SwitchBot wants the smart home to go.
