It has since moved beyond a show-floor concept: SwitchBot announced its launch in June 2025, and its US storefront lists a base configuration for $699.99. The key distinction is that this is a modular mobile platform built around a vacuum—not a humanoid robot that can pick up arbitrary objects or do chores on its own.
What SwitchBot showed at CES 2025
SwitchBot unveiled the K20+ Pro at Unveiled, CES 2025, on January 5, describing it as a “multitasking household robot.” The idea is to put a compact robot vacuum on a mobile base, then use that base to move compatible accessories or small payloads around the home. SwitchBot’s CES announcement proposed uses including vacuuming, delivery, home monitoring, air purification, pet monitoring and carrying a tablet. The concept attracted attention because a robot vacuum becomes a carrier for other smart-home hardware. It is not a humanoid robot, robotic arm or all-purpose housekeeper. Its practical novelty is the combination of a vacuum, mobile base and attachment system.
How the modular system works
Vacuum, station and mobile base
The system is built around a mini robot vacuum, an auto-empty station and the FusionPlatform mobile base. The vacuum handles floor cleaning; the FusionPlatform is the part intended to carry devices and attachments. SwitchBot’s ClawLock mechanism secures attachments to the platform, which also has power ports for compatible equipment.

What modularity means in practice
Rather than building a camera, fan and air purifier into one robot, SwitchBot’s approach is to move different hardware on the same base. The company says the platform can accommodate SwitchBot accessories, third-party devices and custom attachments, including 3D-printed components. It has cited speakers, car refrigerators and UV sterilization lamps as examples of possible third-party uses; these examples do not establish that every device is included, officially supported or suitable for use in a home.
That flexibility comes with practical questions: a mounted accessory can change the robot’s height, width, balance and turning clearance. Check the dimensions of the complete configuration against doorways and furniture, not just the vacuum by itself.

What the base K20+ Pro can do
SwitchBot’s current US product page describes LiDAR mapping, 3D obstacle detection and avoidance, app control and voice control. It also claims the robot can vacuum under sofas, navigate around corners, cover a whole home and mop. Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri Shortcuts are listed as supported; the specific controls available may differ by platform, accessory, region or firmware. The US listing includes a mopping kit, so mopping is part of the listed base package, not merely a CES concept. The product page names a one-year warranty and says official local repair points are available in the United States.

What “delivery” means—and what it does not
SwitchBot says the FusionPlatform can carry a payload of up to 8 kg. In practical terms, that supports a mobile-carrier interpretation: load a suitable item onto the platform and have it transported across an accessible floor. The available product information does not establish that the robot can identify, pick up or load arbitrary objects. It also does not document stair climbing. The 8 kg figure is a company-stated maximum, not a recommendation that every heavy, tall, liquid-filled, hot, fragile or unstable object is safe to carry.

Navigation claims and real-home questions
In its CES announcement, SwitchBot cited D-ToF LiDAR navigation, dual laser detection, a 1:1 home map and “centimeter-level” accuracy. The current US listing describes LiDAR and 3D obstacle detection. These are the company’s specifications and claims; the available sources do not provide independent measurements of mapping accuracy or obstacle-avoidance success.
For a buyer, the unresolved questions are concrete: can the robot pass under furniture with an accessory mounted, clear thresholds and tight turns, and avoid cables, pet toys, clothing or fragile objects? Does a tall camera or purifier change what it can safely navigate around? The source material does not establish real-world results for those situations, so homes with dense clutter, narrow passages or many obstacles should be cautious.

Price, launch and current US configurations
SwitchBot announced the official launch and pre-order on June 9, 2025. Its US storefront lists the base K20+ Pro at $699.99. That is the current listed US price at the time checked, not a guaranteed price in other regions or a price for a fully equipped platform. Optional hardware changes the total cost materially. A base unit does not include every CES-demonstrated function, so price the specific camera, purifier, fan or other device needed for your use rather than treating $699.99 as the cost of a fully equipped home assistant.
What has not been established
The product pages and launch announcements establish SwitchBot’s feature claims and configurations, but they do not provide independent testing for the measures many vacuum buyers use to compare machines. The cited material does not establish suction or cleaning performance, runtime, recharge behavior, noise, mapping accuracy, obstacle-avoidance reliability, or the everyday usefulness of the 8 kg payload limit. It also does not demonstrate general object-picking, stair travel or long-term reliability of the ClawLock system.
The Patrol Kit adds an indoor camera that can move around the home. The cited product information confirms camera-based monitoring and app control, but does not establish video-retention practices or whether footage is stored locally or in the cloud. Buyers should verify current privacy, account-security and storage details directly with SwitchBot, and consider where a mobile camera should—and should not—be allowed to patrol.
Who should consider the K20+ Pro?
- Consider it if you already use SwitchBot devices, want a mobile base for a particular camera, fan or purifier, or enjoy building smart-home routines and custom attachments.
- It may suit pet owners who specifically want a camera-equipped mobile monitor, provided the camera’s privacy implications are acceptable.
- Choose a conventional robot vacuum instead if floor cleaning is your only priority. The K20+ Pro’s premium is tied to the platform and accessory flexibility, not proven superior vacuuming.
- Be cautious if your home has stairs, dense clutter, tight clearance or high thresholds, or if you need independently verified cleaning and navigation performance before buying.
The K20+ Pro is most compelling when treated as a modular carrier that also vacuums. Whether that is worth the price depends on having a real use for the mobile platform and its accessories; otherwise, a dedicated vacuum is the simpler purchase.
