Sunway Construction Group Bhd was named Company of the Year at The Edge Billion Ringgit Club (BRC) Awards 2026, held on September 23. The company also received the construction sector’s highest return on equity (ROE) award and a corporate responsibility initiative award for companies with market capitalisation below RM10 billion.
What Sunway Construction won
The Edge BRC Awards recognised Sunway Construction in three categories. Its principal honour was Company of the Year. It also won the construction sector’s highest ROE award and the corporate responsibility initiative award for companies with market capitalisation below RM10 billion, according to EdgeProp’s report on the awards.
The gala took place on September 23, 2026, as reported by RTM.
How the Company of the Year award is assessed
EdgeProp says the award combines weighted financial measures—ROE, profit after tax and shareholder returns—with companies’ corporate responsibility commitments. Its report also says Deloitte Malaysia independently audited the results. RTM describes the evaluation as including the same financial measures alongside qualitative corporate responsibility factors.

The award therefore recognises a mix of financial performance and responsibility commitments; it is not solely an ROE ranking.
What Sunway Construction says about its record
In a company post, Sunway Construction said its 2026 construction-sector ROE award was its eighth consecutive win in that category, and described Company of the Year as a first for the company. Those streak and first-time claims are the company’s own, as reflected in its 2026 post.

Why the result matters
The combination of the overall award, the sector ROE recognition and the corporate responsibility category makes Sunway Construction the night’s multi-award winner. The Edge Media Group chairman, Tan Sri Tong Kooi Ong, said: “Performance should be recognised, merit should be rewarded, and success should be earned and celebrated.” EdgeProp reported his remarks.
