Statom has appointed John Theos as managing director of Franki Group UK, according to reports published in October 2026. The former Bauer Technologies managing director will lead the piling business and support the development of Franki and sister company Martello. The reports describe the group’s intended growth priorities, not results already achieved.
Who is John Theos, and what did he do at Bauer?
Construction Enquirer reports that Theos became managing director of Bauer Technologies in October 2023, after leading Bauer’s Americas region for seven years and previously running its Canadian business. The outlet also notes earlier senior UK roles at Expanded Piling and Keller. Construction Enquirer’s October 2026 report

What are Franki and Martello targeting?
Construction Enquirer describes distinct intended market roles for the two piling businesses:
| Business | Stated market focus | Methods and specialist work |
|---|---|---|
| Franki | Residential projects and ground improvement | Continuous flight auger (CFA) piling |
| Martello | Civil engineering and major projects | Large-diameter rotary piling, CFA piling and work in restricted headroom |
Construction Enquirer says Martello is investing in its restricted-headroom fleet, with the stated aim of improving productivity and working in tighter spaces. It describes the Martello Method as enabling large-diameter rotary piling where conventional rigs cannot operate, and says the method was introduced in the UK in 2002. These are descriptions of the businesses’ capabilities and plans, not evidence of future contracts or measured growth.

How does the appointment fit Statom’s ownership of Franki?
Construction Enquirer reports that Statom acquired Franki Foundations UK from BESIX in September 2025, including Martello Piling and Able Piling. In that acquisition context, Franki was reported to be heading for annual turnover of around £40 million. That was an approximate, forward-looking figure at the time, not a confirmed result.

Those remarks set out company strategy rather than independently verified outcomes.
