St. Mary’s Park in Monroe is closed to the public while Phase 2 of its redevelopment is underway. The City of Monroe announced the closure on October 2, 2026, and asks people to stay out of closed areas while crews work. The restrooms have limited access through November 1, and the main parking lot is expected to remain open; neither exception means the park is open.
When is St. Mary’s Park expected to reopen?
The City expects Phase 2 construction to finish in spring 2027, weather permitting. That is an estimate, not a confirmed reopening date. The park is to remain closed during construction. Check the City of Monroe’s website for updates, since the schedule may change.
What access remains during construction?
- Restrooms: The park restrooms are to remain accessible through November 1, 2026. This limited access does not open the rest of the park.
- Main parking lot: The City expects it to remain open.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Pedestrian Footbridge: The City will try to keep the bridge open to Elm Avenue, but intermittent closures may occur.
- Special events: Events will be relocated to other venues as appropriate. The City has not identified those venues in its closure notice.
Access arrangements can change as work progresses. Follow the City’s closure notice for current information and observe posted closures and construction boundaries.
What is included in Phase 2?
The City’s plans include recreation-area upgrades and improvements to park access and amenities:
