Finnish contractor SSA Rakennus has put Lekatech’s LEKA Toras 35 electric hammer to work at a redevelopment site in Haaga, Helsinki. The project combines demolition and bedrock excavation with new housing in a dense neighborhood, where a daycare and other existing buildings make noise and vibration practical concerns. The site supervisor described the hammer as quieter and said it had not caused vibrations in neighboring buildings when striking; those are project observations, not instrumented measurements.
What SSA Rakennus is using it for
The Haaga project is converting an old primary school into housing, adding apartment blocks around the site, demolishing older structures and excavating bedrock. Construction Briefing reported the deployment on October 5, 2026, and identified the LEKA Toras 35 as the electric hammer in use. The work takes place near existing neighbors, including a daycare, so managing disturbance is part of the equipment decision. Construction Briefing’s project report
Site supervisor Arttu Manni told Construction Briefing the hammer had “definitely been quieter in terms of sound” and had not caused vibrations in neighboring buildings when striking. That is useful feedback from the site, but the report does not provide sound-level readings, vibration data, distances, or a comparison under controlled conditions. It should not be read as proof that electric hammers are always quieter or vibration-free.
Manni also said SSA Rakennus monitors fuel consumption and the carbon footprint of its sites and had a positive impression of the hammer, adding that the company could see itself using one on another project. His comments describe the contractor’s impression, not measured project-specific emissions or energy savings.

What the efficiency and oil claims establish—and what they do not
The efficiency figures published for the product are not consistent across the cited sources. Construction Briefing reported Lekatech’s claim of up to 75% greater energy efficiency than a hydraulic version. Lekatech’s product page says the hammer is 70% more energy efficient than hydraulic hammers and claims a 98% reduction in oil consumption compared with hydraulic hammers. The sources do not disclose a shared test method or comparison basis, so these percentages should remain separate, attributed manufacturer claims—not be combined or treated as verified savings at the Haaga site.
For an equipment comparison, a buyer would need to establish the task, material, duty cycle, machine and power configuration, and measurement method. Relevant checks include total system energy use, noise and vibration at comparable tasks and distances, required hydraulic-oil handling versus the electric hammer’s operating and cooling connections, and the site’s available electrical supply. A nominal efficiency percentage alone cannot settle those questions.

How to assess an electric hammer for a similar site
- Check carrier fit: verify the excavator’s weight class and the required mounting and interface configuration against the manufacturer’s requirements.
- Match operating range to the work: compare the required impact energy and rate with the published adjustment ranges, then confirm suitability for the material and task.
- Plan the power and connections: confirm the electrical supply and operating and cooling connections required for the selected machine configuration.
- Measure the outcomes that matter: for noise, vibration and energy comparisons, use comparable work conditions and documented measurement methods rather than relying only on impressions or product claims.
- Compare total cost: obtain project-specific ownership or rental costs and include the required carrier, power and operating arrangements. The cited sources publish no pricing or rental terms.
