What happened to the six Greenwich housing schemes?
The six projects are part of Greenwich Builds, the council’s housing programme. Following Helix Construct’s cessation of trading, work on the schemes stopped. The council told The Greenwich Wire that it had secured all the sites and was reviewing each project separately with the administrator.
A council spokesperson said: “Greenwich Builds uses a variety of contractors to diversify and manage risk across its programme, and as a council we are committed to completing these homes.” The spokesperson also said: “We have secured all sites and are reviewing each scheme individually, and will be working alongside the administrator to find solutions as quickly as possible. All neighbours have been informed, and we will share updates on each scheme as soon as we have them.”
Which sites have been identified?
Lemonwell Drive, Eltham
The Greenwich Wire reported on 29 September 2026 that Helix was building a block of nine flats at Lemonwell Drive, off Bexley Road in Eltham. It is the only one of the six affected locations identified in the local reporting reviewed.

The other five schemes
The council had not publicly named the other five sites in the reports reviewed. A Blackheath Times report discussed Richmount Gardens and contract records, but said the council had not confirmed that Richmount Gardens was among the six. It should not be treated as an affected site without that confirmation.
What is known about restarting construction?
The council has said it is working with the administrator to find solutions and will share updates on each scheme. The reports do not establish a site-by-site recovery plan, which contractor or procurement route will complete the work, or when construction might resume. They also do not confirm a revised completion timetable or project-level financial impact.

How large is Greenwich Builds?
Greenwich Builds was described in the reporting as a 1,750-home programme. The Greenwich Wire reported on 29 September 2026 that the council said 1,041 new council homes had been delivered, with hundreds more under construction. That delivery total is a dated figure reported at that time, not a verified current programme count.
