The homes were intended for vulnerable seniors and funded through a $4,624,634 Community Housing Grants Program award to the Shire of Murray.
What was ready in March 2024?
The WA Government’s 27 March 2024 announcement reported that six of the planned 11 dwellings were complete, with tenants in the process of moving in. The project was intended to provide low-cost community housing for vulnerable seniors in Dwellingup.
A Mandurah Times report published on 3 April 2024 also said six homes had been built and tenants were preparing to move in. It reported that the other five were expected to be ready by June 2024. That was a forecast, not confirmation that the remaining homes were completed on schedule.
WA Parliament Hansard referred to the project on 14 May 2024, describing a $4.6 million grant for 11 Dwellingup Community Village dwellings and saying six had been completed at that point.

The 11-home project award is separate from the wider program investment. The Department of Housing and Works’ Community Housing Grants Program overview describes more than $152 million in program investment and says more than 70 providers and local governments received funding for work across Western Australia.

What the wider grants program supports
The program manages capital grants for community housing providers to build new homes, refurbish existing housing, and maintain homes in regional and remote communities. The department’s 2025 overview reports more than 300 new social housing properties, over 800 refurbishment projects, and essential maintenance on 187 dwellings across remote Aboriginal communities. Those are statewide program outputs, not results attributable to the Dwellingup project.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What remains unconfirmed
The cited project updates establish the six-home March 2024 milestone and the plan for 11 dwellings, but they do not establish whether all 11 were ultimately completed, when each tenant took possession, or how many homes are occupied now. The June 2024 readiness dates were expectations reported at the time, not verified completion outcomes.
