Simplicity’s 2019 snowthrower lineup ranged from compact 22-inch single-stage machines to 38-inch Signature Pro dual-stage models. The right fit depended on snow depth and type, driveway size and surface, and how much storage space you had. Simplicity’s 2018 brochure lists the models and specifications, but it is manufacturer literature—not independent testing—so this is a historical buying guide, not a ranking of tested winners.
How to choose a 2019 Simplicity snow blower for your driveway
Start with the conditions the machine must handle, rather than choosing by engine size alone. Simplicity’s current stage FAQ, updated May 5, 2026, and its buying guide describe general use cases; these are manufacturer recommendations, not independent performance findings.
- Snowfall: Consider whether your area usually gets light-to-medium snowfall or heavy snow and frequent clearing.
- Driveway size: A narrower machine may be easier to maneuver and store; a wider clearing path can cover more area per pass.
- Surface: Single-stage models are described as clearing down to pavement. Simplicity says dual-stage machines do not clear all the way to the ground, which can make them suitable for gravel.
- Snow at the plow end: Simplicity describes SnowShredder’s serrated steel auger surfaces as an added feature for compacted snow.
- Controls and comfort: Compare starting method, chute controls, steering, lighting and heated grips where specified.
- Storage: Check the machine’s footprint and your available storage before choosing a wider model.
What is the difference between single-stage and dual-stage?
Single-stage
A single-stage machine uses its auger to collect and move snow. Simplicity positions compact single-stage machines for smaller driveways and light-to-medium snowfall, and says they clear down to pavement. The 2019 single-stage models in its brochure all had a 22-inch clearing width.
Dual-stage
In Simplicity’s description, the auger gathers snow and feeds it to an impeller, which sends it out through the chute. The company positions dual-stage machines for heavy snowfall and more frequent use. Because they do not clear all the way to the ground, Simplicity says they can suit gravel driveways.

All values are manufacturer-published specifications in Simplicity’s 2018 brochure for the 2019 lineup. For the single-stage models, the brochure lists recoil starting for the 1022 and electric-start variants among the other models; it also identifies SnowShredder serrated-auger versions. Verify the exact suffix and equipment on an individual machine.
How the 2019 families differ
Single-stage: compact 22-inch choices
The five listed models share a 22-inch clearing width. The 1022 has recoil starting; the brochure lists electric-start variants and SnowShredder serrated-auger versions within the lineup. The 1222EE is listed with a 250cc engine, while the other listed single-stage models use 208cc engines. These differences help distinguish configurations, but the brochure does not establish which one performs best in a particular driveway.

The brochure describes Select as combining the features and power of larger snowthrowers with the maneuverability of smaller machines. That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent comparison.

The Signature family lists the 1524 at 24 inches with a 306cc engine, the 1728 at 28 inches with a 420cc engine, and the 2132 at 32 inches with a 420cc engine. The brochure’s specifications identify the size and displacement; select the model based on the work area and required footprint rather than treating engine displacement alone as a performance ranking.

Signature Pro includes the P1724, P2128, P2132 and P2138, with clearing widths from 24 to 38 inches. All four are listed with 420cc engines. Simplicity describes this family as professional-duty and lists commercial-grade transmissions and integrated channel handles. Those are manufacturer-published descriptions, not evidence of independently verified durability.
Is a Simplicity 1530 a two-stage snow blower?
Yes. The 2019 Simplicity 1530 is a Select dual-stage model with a 30-inch clearing width and a 306cc Briggs & Stratton 1450 Snow Series OHV engine. The brochure also lists electric start, heated grips, LED headlights, a friction-disk transmission and dual-trigger steering. Its up-to-40-foot throwing-distance figure is conditional; the brochure says actual distance depends on conditions. These are specifications, not a test result or a claim that the 1530 is the best choice for every driveway.

The brochure specifies three-year limited warranties for the consumer lines. For Signature and Signature Pro, it additionally lists a one-year commercial limited warranty. It directs owners to the operator’s manual or Simplicity website for full terms. A historical brochure cannot establish that a used machine still has coverage: confirm the applicable terms against the machine’s manual and purchase details.

For a used machine, match its condition and configuration to your needs. In particular, verify the model and suffix, inspect the machine, and consider your driveway surface, typical snow and storage space. The 2019 brochure does not establish current availability, reliability, or independent test performance.
Find the correct manual, parts list and service
Simplicity says the product identification tag carries the model number used to locate the operator’s manual and illustrated parts list. Identify the full model number and suffix before following maintenance instructions or ordering a replacement part; fit should be checked against the illustrated parts list. Simplicity also points owners to local dealers for selection, accessories, seasonal maintenance, factory-approved parts and service. Its manuals page and support information are starting points.
