The Ferguson Hill Jetstream is a complete, oversized loudspeaker system built around clear acrylic horns and spherical bass speakers—not a Bluetooth speaker or a single all-in-one unit. Its design has a credible horn-and-bass architecture, but its six-figure UK price signals a luxury installation, not an ordinary speaker upgrade.
What comes in the Ferguson Hill Jetstream system?
The core system comprises a pair of Jetstream horn speakers, a pair of bass speakers and a dedicated stereo bass amplifier. Ferguson Hill also describes a complete-system configuration that can include a HiFi Rose RS520 streamer, DAC and amplifier, with cables. It is not safe to assume the bass amplifier powers the horns. The manufacturer specifies a separate bass amplifier and describes the Allnic as an option for the horn speakers. Ask Ferguson Hill to confirm the exact signal chain, included electronics and recommended horn amplifier before ordering.
How do the transparent horns work?
The horns are molded from 8-mm-thick acrylic. Their clear appearance is a design choice; the material does not make them acoustically invisible, and the acrylic itself is not the sound source. A custom full-range driver, developed with Poland’s Cube Audio according to Ferguson Hill, produces sound that the horn shapes and couples to the room. Ferguson Hill says the horn transitions from the higher acoustic impedance near the driver toward the lower impedance of the room at its mouth. In practical terms, the horn is an active acoustic component, not merely a transparent stand or enclosure. Its transparency does not, by itself, establish an acoustic advantage over wood, metal or composite construction.

- Weight: 32 kg per speaker with damping fill.
- Sensitivity: 100 dB at 1 m, 1 kHz and 1 watt, according to Ferguson Hill.
- Nominal impedance: 8 ohms.
- Driver: custom full-range unit developed with Cube Audio, using a neodymium motor.
The stated sensitivity suggests the horns can produce high levels without enormous amplifier power, but sensitivity alone cannot establish sound quality, bass response, room suitability or amplifier compatibility.
Why are there separate bass speakers?
Ferguson Hill says the horn section rolls off below approximately 140 Hz, so the bass speakers supply the lower-frequency output. Each bass unit is a roughly 600-mm-diameter clear acrylic sphere with a 300-mm high-efficiency neodymium driver. There is a published specification discrepancy: New Atlas reported 150 liters per sphere in its January 23, 2024 coverage, while Ferguson Hill’s current bass-speaker page states 113 liters. What the bass amplifier does
The dedicated Jetstream bass amplifier is a stereo Class D unit rated at 2 × 200 W, with an internal 140-Hz low-pass filter. The 400-W total rating applies to this bass amplifier, not automatically to the horn speakers. Ferguson Hill lists dimensions of 47 × 37 × 11 cm, anodized aluminum construction, soft-start and circuit protection, and a universal 110/240-V mains input. The broad signal path is a source or preamplifier feeding a suitable horn amplifier and the dedicated bass amplifier, which drives the bass speakers through its low-pass filtering. The company’s pages do not establish every crossover, DSP or bundled-electronics detail, so confirm those points rather than assuming the bass amplifier controls the whole system.

What performance evidence is published?
Ferguson Hill publishes an in-room response of 35 Hz to 15 kHz within ±3 dB. The company says the displayed response uses DSP filtering and psychoacoustic smoothing, so this is not a claim of flat response in every room or an anechoic free-field specification. It also reports 0.02% total harmonic distortion at approximately 1 kHz and 80 dB SPL, measured acoustically for both horns. These are manufacturer-published results, not independent validation. Ferguson Hill’s reviews page points to an April 2024 Speaker Shack review and reproduces favorable listening impressions about soundstage, imaging and naturalness. Ferguson Hill’s pages show different price signals and do not make every listing’s tax basis or package contents equally clear. The component prices below are listed including UK VAT; the two complete-system figures are presented as their respective pages state them. Treat them as quotes to reconcile with the company, not interchangeable prices.

Before committing, request a written quote that specifies the speakers, bass amplifier, any streamer or horn amplifier, shipping, taxes, installation and warranty for your country. Ferguson Hill directs prospective buyers to contact it or an official dealer about availability; a product listing alone does not establish that a unit is in stock.

The dimensions make this a room-defining installation. Each horn is 1.65 m tall and nearly a meter wide, and the pair of bass spheres adds more substantial visual and physical volume. Because the horns are dipole and horn-loaded, room interaction and placement are meaningful considerations; that is an acoustic inference, not a published minimum-room requirement. The manufacturer’s materials do not establish a required room size or listening distance.

Acrylic’s transparency can make the structure appear lighter than a conventional cabinet, but it does not make the system small or easy to conceal. Careful handling is also sensible for a prominent acrylic installation. Ask the manufacturer how acrylic parts are cleaned, repaired or replaced, and request packed dimensions and weights before arranging delivery.
Questions to settle before purchase
- Which exact components are included in the quoted complete-system price, and is the HiFi Rose RS520 included?
- Is a horn amplifier included? What power, output impedance and gain structure does Ferguson Hill recommend?
- How are crossover duties and any DSP divided among the included components?
- What room dimensions, placement and listening distance does the company recommend?
- Were the published response and distortion measurements made on a production pair, and under what setup?
- What warranty and service arrangements apply in your country, and how are custom drivers and acrylic parts replaced?
- What are the shipping dimensions, packed weights, duties, taxes and installation costs?
Who is the Jetstream for?
The Jetstream is most plausibly suited to a buyer with a dedicated listening room or a design-led residential project, a substantial budget, and the willingness to plan specialist amplification, placement and delivery. Its high sensitivity, horn architecture and sculptural clear construction are part of the proposition, but the strongest positive sound descriptions available here are subjective review impressions rather than comparative test results.
It is a poor match for someone seeking a simple wireless speaker, a discreet system for a small apartment, or a routine upgrade with straightforward checkout and broad conventional service support. Conventional high-end floorstanders may be easier to integrate; active systems may simplify amplification and crossover management; electrostatic and other horn systems use different acoustic and placement approaches. No current prices or performance rankings for those alternatives are established here, so compare them in person and on the basis of room fit, service and verified system requirements.
Verdict
The Jetstream is more than a visual novelty: its custom driver, horn loading, dipole approach and separate bass section form a coherent loudspeaker architecture. But its immense footprint, distinct amplification needs, unresolved package pricing and very high cost make it a luxury engineering-and-design object, not a rational default replacement for conventional quality speakers. Whether it makes sense depends on the room and the value you place on a speaker system that is impossible to hide.
