Schneider Electric announced EcoStruxure Foresight Operation on November 18, 2025, describing it as a planned AI-enabled operations platform for connecting building systems, energy data and electrical-power infrastructure. The announcement was made at Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit North America in Las Vegas.

Foresight is not yet a broadly available replacement for Schneider’s existing building-management and power-management products. Schneider’s current roadmap places a beta release in Q3 2026, followed by an anticipated first official release in Q1 2027. For facility owners, contractors, engineers and integrators, the announcement is best understood as a significant product direction with an early-adopter opportunity—not as proof that every connected facility can already be operated through one mature AI system.

What Schneider Electric announced

Schneider says EcoStruxure Foresight is intended to create a common operational layer across traditionally separate systems, including:

  • Building-management systems for HVAC, lighting and related controls.
  • Electrical distribution, switchgear, UPS systems and power monitoring.
  • Energy consumption, demand and sustainability data.
  • Cooling and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Solar generation, microgrids and other distributed-energy assets.
  • Alarms, events, maintenance information and operating history.
  • Third-party equipment and software connected through open integrations.

The proposed platform would collect information from these systems, organize it through unified data models, apply analytics and AI, and present operators with correlated events, forecasts, diagnostics and recommended actions. Depending on the final configuration, it may also support approved supervisory-control workflows.

That is materially different from announcing a new dashboard or chatbot. However, the public announcement does not establish that Foresight already supports every Schneider product, third-party system or autonomous control scenario.

The problem: disconnected facility systems

Large buildings and infrastructure sites commonly use separate platforms for HVAC, lighting, access control, electrical distribution, UPS equipment, generators, cooling, energy meters, maintenance and occupancy. These systems may each work well in their own domain, but their data and alarms are not always presented together.

That fragmentation creates practical problems for construction and operations teams. A power-quality event may affect cooling equipment or sensitive computing loads. A failed cooling component may first appear as an unexplained change in energy use. On-site solar may be producing power while the facility continues drawing heavily from the grid. Several alarms may describe symptoms of one underlying fault rather than separate failures.

Foresight’s operational rationale is to correlate those events. The value would come not merely from displaying more information, but from helping operators understand relationships between electrical, mechanical and building conditions.

For a construction project, this also raises an important design question: whether controls, metering, equipment connectivity and data naming are being planned early enough to support cross-system operations after handover.

What the AI is expected to do

Schneider uses “AI-powered” to describe several proposed functions rather than one specific feature. Its public materials describe or suggest the following capabilities:

AI-aided diagnostics

The platform is intended to identify abnormal conditions, correlate related data and help prioritize investigation. Instead of treating every alarm independently, it could group related symptoms and point operators toward a likely cause.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Predictive maintenance

Foresight is intended to identify patterns that may indicate developing equipment or system problems before a failure occurs. The usefulness of this feature will depend on sensor quality, historical data, equipment coverage and the availability of meaningful failure examples.

Forecasting

Forecasting may help anticipate energy demand, load behavior and operating conditions. That could support planning for electrical capacity, cooling and energy procurement, although the public materials do not specify the model accuracy or validation method.

Optimization

Schneider says the platform is intended to optimize energy, power and building operations. An optimization recommendation might involve coordinating cooling, load management, renewable generation or other operating conditions. Whether a particular action is advisory, rule-based, operator-approved or automatic remains a deployment-specific question.

Digital-twin simulation and deployment assistance

Schneider also describes digital-twin and AI-enabled tools intended to support simulation and reduce engineering effort. The public roadmap does not provide enough detail to determine which systems, project stages or control sequences will be covered at launch.

Most importantly, the available information does not specify Foresight’s underlying model architecture, training data, benchmark results, false-positive rates or exact human-approval workflow. Claims about proactive resolution should therefore be treated as Schneider’s product vision, not as evidence of unrestricted autonomous facility control.

How Foresight fits Schneider’s existing EcoStruxure portfolio

Foresight should not be described as a confirmed replacement for existing EcoStruxure products. Schneider already sells products that handle important parts of the proposed operating environment.

Product Primary role How Foresight is positioned differently
EcoStruxure Building Operation Central monitoring and control for building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, microgrids, renewables, security and third-party integrations. Foresight is intended to add a broader cross-domain operating layer spanning building, energy and electrical systems.
EcoStruxure Power Operation Monitoring and control of medium- and low-voltage electrical networks and critical power infrastructure. Foresight is intended to correlate power operations with building and energy conditions.
EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert Electrical monitoring, event analysis, power forensics, reliability and energy reporting. Foresight’s proposed distinction is multi-domain coordination rather than dedicated electrical analysis alone.
EcoStruxure Energy Hub Energy monitoring, trending, cost analysis, multi-site comparison, load control and renewable-energy tracking. Foresight is aimed at combining energy information with building and power operations.

Schneider’s stated proposition is a pre-integrated multi-domain platform rather than an arrangement in which an integrator manually connects two or more separate systems. The practical difference will depend on the supported protocols, APIs, data models, existing-product integrations and treatment of brownfield equipment.

Why data centers are a prominent use case

Data centers illustrate the value Schneider is pursuing. UPS systems, switchgear, generators, rack loads, chillers, computer-room cooling and building controls may be managed by different tools, yet their performance is closely connected.

An electrical disturbance can affect IT loads and cooling. A cooling change can affect both resilience and energy consumption. Increasing AI workloads can raise rack density and power demand, making capacity visibility and thermal coordination more important.

A cross-domain platform could help operators investigate power and cooling events together, identify developing equipment issues and understand how operating decisions affect energy use. That is a plausible use case—not an independently verified result from Foresight deployments.

Other facilities Schneider is targeting

Hospitals

Hospitals require power resilience, environmental control, careful change management and dependable operation around patient-care areas. Any AI recommendation affecting electrical or mechanical systems would need clear limits, auditability and a reliable fallback to established local and supervisory controls.

Life-sciences facilities

Laboratories and pharmaceutical facilities may benefit from coordinated energy and equipment monitoring, but validation, traceability and documented change control can be especially important. A platform’s ability to make a recommendation is not the same as authorization to change a regulated process.

Commercial real estate

Commercial property owners may be interested in multi-site energy visibility, operating-cost reduction, tenant comfort and sustainability reporting. Portfolio-wide deployment will depend on whether sites have consistent tags, controls, meters, network connections and operating procedures.

Schneider explicitly identifies data centers, healthcare, life sciences and commercial real estate as target segments on its EcoStruxure Foresight product page.

Availability, roadmap and commercial reality

The timeline matters:

  • November 18, 2025: Schneider announced EcoStruxure Foresight Operation.
  • Q3 2026: Schneider’s current page identifies a planned beta release for early adopters.
  • Q1 2027: Schneider anticipates the first official release, including building-automation and power-and-energy-management functionality.

As of August 18, 2026, the public roadmap does not establish broad commercial availability. Buyers should confirm regional access, beta eligibility, supported features and production-support terms directly with Schneider.

No public Foresight price is shown on Schneider’s product page. The buying path is a sales inquiry or expert consultation, and Schneider says it plans to provide migration assistance, training, monitoring, support, maintenance and upgrades. Those services are likely to be important because the cost of a cross-domain deployment includes more than software licensing.

Budget for potential integration, controls engineering, data cleanup, cybersecurity review, commissioning, training, ongoing support and hardware or gateway upgrades. A beta customer may gain influence over the roadmap, but may also face changing interfaces, incomplete integrations and limited production history.

Security, safety and governance

Schneider says Foresight includes or is designed around multi-factor authentication, role-based access control, Windows Active Directory integration, BACnet Secure and an IEC 62443 Security Level 2 design target. It also refers to future third-party IEC 62443 certifications. Buyers should distinguish current certifications from design targets or planned certifications.

Questions to ask before joining an early-adopter program

  1. Integration: Can the platform connect to the existing BMS, EPMS, SCADA, meters, UPS equipment and cooling controls? Are connections native, partner-built or custom?
  2. Brownfield support: Can existing equipment remain in service, or are controllers, gateways and meters expected to be replaced?
  3. Control scope: Is the deployment monitoring-only, advisory, supervisory or closed-loop? Which systems can it control?
  4. AI quality: What training and validation data support each model? What false-positive and false-negative metrics are available?
  5. Explainability: Can engineers inspect the data and reasoning behind an alert or recommendation?
  6. Resilience: What operates at the edge, and what stops when connectivity to a central or cloud service is lost?
  7. Cybersecurity: Which certifications are current? How are patches, vulnerabilities, secrets and model changes managed?
  8. Economics: What is the licensing basis—sites, devices, points, users, capacity or data volume? What migration and service costs are mandatory?
  9. Measurement: If Schneider cites efficiency improvements, what is the baseline, facility type, measurement period and methodology?
  10. Exit and portability: Can customers export their operational data and retain integrations if they later change platforms?

How the claimed benefits should be read

Schneider lists a single operational interface, improved visibility, faster diagnostics, predictive maintenance, lower integration complexity, reduced engineering effort, resilience and energy efficiency among the intended benefits.

CRN reported Schneider’s claim that the unified approach could improve operational efficiency by up to 50%. This is a vendor-attributed maximum, not a customer guarantee or independently verified benchmark. The claim does not, by itself, identify the baseline, sample size, facility type, implementation cost or measurement period.

Similarly, “open,” “AI-powered,” “lower total cost of ownership” and “proactively resolves” should be tested against technical documentation and a defined pilot. A buyer should require measurable success criteria rather than accept the AI label as evidence of savings or reliability.

Alternatives and deployment choices

Foresight is not automatically the best fit for every project. Buyers can compare it with several approaches:

  • Existing Schneider stack: Building Operation, Power Operation, Power Monitoring Expert and Energy Hub may be the lower-risk choice for customers that need established capabilities before Foresight’s official release.
  • Best-of-breed architecture: A dedicated BMS, EPMS, energy platform and independent analytics layer can preserve multi-vendor flexibility, but requires more integration and governance.
  • Siemens Desigo: A relevant building-automation ecosystem for organizations invested in Siemens controls.
  • Honeywell Forge for Buildings: A comparison point for connected-building operations and analytics, particularly in Honeywell environments.
  • Johnson Controls OpenBlue: A relevant alternative for connected-building, sustainability and facilities operations.

These are comparison categories, not claims that the products have identical features, availability or commercial terms. Exact regional offerings and integration support should be verified before procurement.

Bottom line

EcoStruxure Foresight is strategically important because it targets the boundary between building-management systems, electrical-power operations and energy analytics. Schneider announced it in November 2025 as a planned AI-enabled platform, but its current public roadmap points to a Q3 2026 beta and an anticipated first official release in Q1 2027.

For owners, contractors and integrators, the right next step is a technical assessment of existing systems, data quality, controls authority, cybersecurity and project economics. Foresight may become a useful cross-domain operating layer, but its real value will be determined by integration depth, measurable performance, safe control boundaries and production maturity—not by the AI description alone.
