Samsung is expanding One UI Tizen across supported Tizen smart TVs, but this is not a single update for every Samsung television. Under Samsung’s current public policy, TVs launched from 2023 onward may receive One UI Tizen and other operating-system upgrades for up to seven years from their launch year. Eligibility, timing and features still vary by model, country, software version and hardware.
What One UI Tizen actually is
Tizen is the operating-system platform used by Samsung smart TVs. One UI Tizen is Samsung’s branded interface and connected-device experience on that platform. It is not the Android-based One UI used on Galaxy phones and tablets.

Samsung is using One UI as a broader design and software language across phones, TVs and appliances, but the TV implementation remains Tizen-based. The practical result is a redesigned interface, updated services and longer-term software support—not Galaxy phone software transferred to a television.
Which Samsung TVs are eligible?
Samsung’s current public support information says One UI Tizen upgrades are offered for TVs released from 2023 onward, with support lasting up to seven years from the product’s launch year. For example, Samsung gives the example of a supported 2024 TV receiving upgrades through 2030.

That is a maximum support period, not a promise that every television receives every future feature. Samsung qualifies availability by model, region, release year and hardware. A processor or other hardware limitation may prevent an otherwise supported TV from receiving a particular function.
Samsung’s developer documentation groups TV models by product year and platform, but it is not a consumer-facing universal rollout calendar. To check a specific set, use its exact model number and consult the local Samsung support page and firmware listing:
What the update changes
The most visible change is the interface. Samsung’s 2026 OLED materials describe streamlined One UI Tizen navigation with a top bar linking to areas such as Live TV, Art Store and Gaming Hub. Other supported televisions may receive a different design or a subset of these functions.

- Content discovery and navigation.
- Streaming applications and Samsung TV Plus access.
- SmartThings integration.
- App compatibility, security and general operating-system behavior.
- AI and voice features, including selected Bixby and Vision AI functions.
Samsung announced an upgraded Bixby experience for supported 2025 TVs, including more conversational questions, follow-up questions, information about content on screen, Click to Search integration and voice control of compatible SmartThings devices. Samsung said the rollout began in South Korea and expanded in phases, with the U.S. rollout starting August 4, 2025, followed by France, Germany, Italy and Spain during August.

Those AI functions are not universal One UI Tizen benefits. Availability can depend on the TV model, language, country, software version, Samsung Account and compatible services.
How to install One UI Tizen
Use automatic updates
- Open Settings.
- Select All Settings.
- Choose Support.
- Select Software Update.
- Turn on Auto Update.
Check manually over the internet
- Go to Settings → All Settings → Support → Software Update.
- Select Update Now.
- Allow the TV to download and install the firmware.
- Let the TV restart, and do not switch it off during installation.
Samsung says installation generally takes several minutes and the TV restarts automatically. If no update is available, the TV will report that there is nothing to install.

Install from a USB drive
- Open Samsung’s Download Center.
- Search for the TV’s exact model number.
- Download the correct firmware for that model and region.
- Extract the archive and copy the extracted files to a USB drive.
- Insert the drive into the TV.
- Open Settings → All Settings → Support → Software Update → Update Now.
- Confirm the installation when prompted.
Do not use firmware for a similar-looking model or another country. If the wrong package is used, contact Samsung support rather than trying unofficial rollback tools or third-party firmware.
Why the update may not appear
A Tizen logo alone does not guarantee that a television will receive One UI Tizen. Common explanations include:
- The TV launched before Samsung’s stated 2023 eligibility threshold.
- The specific model is outside the supported group.
- The rollout has not reached the TV’s country or region.
- The TV already has the latest firmware available for its hardware.
- A particular feature is restricted by the TV’s processor or other hardware.
- The feature requires a Samsung Account, internet connection, app update, subscription or compatible device.
If the TV is connected but reports that no update is available, confirm the exact model number, restart the TV and router, check the local Samsung firmware page, and compare the installed firmware version with Samsung’s listed version. Use USB installation only with the exact official regional firmware. Contact Samsung if the model appears eligible but remains unexpectedly outdated.

What seven years of support does—and does not—mean
Samsung’s policy is meaningful for buyers who want a longer-lived smart-TV platform, but it is not seven years of identical flagship features. An update cannot add a faster panel, a higher refresh rate, additional HDMI capabilities, better speakers, a new tuner or a more powerful processor.

Smart services also have requirements and limitations. Samsung says network-based services such as streaming apps and other smart features require internet access and a Samsung Account. Content and app availability vary by country. Samsung also acknowledges that Smart Hub devices may display advertisements and recommendations, with format and availability varying by region, model and year.
Do not assume that an updated TV receives every AI, Art Store, Gaming Hub or SmartThings function shown in an announcement. For example, Samsung’s 2026 OLED interface changes are described for models including the S95H, S90H and S85H, while other model families may have different capabilities.

Samsung’s public instructions do not establish one universal behavior for every model and firmware package. Before a major update, photograph important settings and note app logins—especially custom picture calibration, accessibility settings and specialized peripheral configurations. This is sensible preparation, not a claim that every update resets a television.
If an update causes a serious compatibility or functionality problem, contact Samsung support. Samsung’s reviewed public material does not provide a consumer downgrade procedure, so unofficial rollback files and forced-downgrade tools are not recommended.

Should you buy a Samsung TV because of One UI Tizen?
For an existing owner, installing the update generally makes sense when the TV is eligible and you want newer apps, security improvements, interface changes or SmartThings integration. You may choose to wait briefly after a non-urgent release if the TV is needed for an important event, depends on niche apps or has a carefully calibrated setup.
For a new buyer, the seven-year policy is one useful selection criterion—not a substitute for evaluating the television itself. Compare:
- Panel technology, brightness, viewing angles and size.
- HDMI port count and gaming features.
- Refresh-rate capability and compatibility with your consoles or PC.
- Local app availability.
- Samsung Account requirements, Smart Hub advertising and privacy preferences.
- Whether you already use SmartThings devices.
If the display is still satisfactory but Samsung’s built-in software lacks an app or interface you want, an external streaming device may be the better fix. Roku, Google TV and Apple TV devices can separate streaming software from the television, although they will not necessarily provide Samsung-native features such as Samsung TV Plus integration, Gaming Hub or direct SmartThings controls.
Check the exact model and your country’s Samsung support page before assuming that a generic One UI Tizen announcement applies to your TV.
