Samsung introduced a new India-market range of Bespoke AI top-load washing machines in May 2025. The WA80F-series models use load and fabric sensing to adjust washing parameters, while SmartThings adds app-based monitoring and an AI Energy Mode. Samsung’s headline savings and fabric-care figures are conditional manufacturer claims, not independent proof that every load will clean better or cost less.
What Samsung actually launched
This is a new range of top-load models, not a firmware update that turns existing Samsung washers into Bespoke AI machines. Samsung described it as its first AI-featured top-load washer range in India, extending Bespoke AI functions previously associated with front-load machines and other appliances. The announcement covers India’s 2025 Bespoke AI appliance lineup: Samsung’s India launch announcement.
The evidence located is India-specific. The WA80F model names, capacities, prices, electrical specifications, service terms and availability should not be assumed to apply in the United States or other markets.
Capacities and model families
Samsung’s reported range spans 8kg, 10kg, 12kg and 14kg. Product pages use model families such as WA80F08…, WA80F10…, WA80F12… and WA80F14…, with the full suffix identifying color and feature configuration.

| Capacity | Example India listing | What to verify before buying |
|---|---|---|
| 8kg | WA80F08S2LTL | Heater, supported cycles and exact SmartThings functions |
| 10kg | WA80F10B3BTL | Options may differ from 8kg, 12kg and 14kg versions |
| 12kg | WA80F12S5CTL | Dimensions, installation clearance and whether the listing is a Super Speed variant |
| 14kg | WA80F14B6BTL | Floor space, water requirements and suitability for your usual load size |
Two washers with the same capacity are not necessarily identical. Samsung’s pages distinguish variants with and without an in-built heater, and Super Speed availability can vary by suffix.
What the “AI” functions do
AI Wash: automatic cycle adjustment
Samsung says AI Wash senses fabric type and load weight, then adjusts water level, agitation intensity, wash duration and rinse duration. This is best understood as sensor-based cycle optimization. The available documentation does not show camera-based garment recognition, natural-language laundry advice or a large-language-model system in these top-loaders.
Samsung claims “up to 25% more fabric care.” That is a Samsung comparison claim; the launch material does not fully describe the test method, and it should not be read as clothes lasting 25% longer. AI Wash also cannot guarantee removal of every stain, replace pretreatment or eliminate the need to sort unsuitable garments.
AI Energy Mode: app-enabled efficiency
AI Energy Mode is enabled through SmartThings on supported courses. Samsung advertises up to 20% lower washer energy consumption, but its product-page qualification is narrow: the test used a specific WA80F model, a 3kg or 4kg load, a stated AI Wash course and water-level setting, with results provided to and interpreted by Intertek. Actual consumption varies with load, water temperature, selected options and household conditions.

Rank #3
- High efficiency 5.2 cu ft top load washer delivers powerful cleaning performance while using less water and energy for everyday laundry needs
- Large capacity 7.4 cu ft electric dryer easily handles bulky items like comforters towels and large family loads
- Smart washer functionality allows remote monitoring cycle control and alerts through compatible mobile devices
- Multiple wash cycles and temperature options provide flexible care for delicates heavy fabrics and everyday clothing
- Sensor dry technology automatically adjusts drying time to help prevent overdrying and reduce energy usage
The mode can change the algorithm and increase cycle time. Lower energy use and the shortest wash are therefore different goals.
AI VRT+: vibration and noise control
AI VRT+ is Samsung’s system for reducing noise and vibration. It does not make the washer silent or replace correct installation. Leveling, a rigid floor, balanced loads and removal of shipping restraints remain essential if the machine shakes or walks.
Rank #4
- Enjoy Samsung’s advanced top load washer and electric dryer set with Wi-Fi Smart Control for easy monitoring and cycle alerts from your smartphone
- The 4.5 cu. ft. washer delivers deep, thorough cleaning with minimal water use, removing tough stains while protecting fabric quality

SmartThings and Bixby
SmartThings supports connected functions such as monitoring, energy tracking and remote management. Samsung also references Bixby for appliance-care assistance and maintenance alerts within its broader Bespoke AI ecosystem. Availability depends on the exact model, country, app version and connected-device setup. Remote operation may require enabling a washer setting and can be restricted for safety.
Conventional laundry features
- Ecobubble: Samsung’s bubble-based washing system.
- Hygiene Steam: On the specified heater model, Samsung describes a 60°C cycle and claims elimination of 99.9% of certain bacteria under its stated test conditions. This is not a guarantee for every pathogen, load or cold-water program, and it is not medical sterilization. See the 8kg heater product page.
- Stain Wash: A heated option intended for marks such as sweat and everyday stains.
- Super Speed: Launch coverage described a 29-minute cycle, but duration depends on model, load, options and test conditions.
- Digital Inverter Technology: The motor platform used in the listed models.
- Cleaning and maintenance functions: Confirm these model by model; Samsung’s pages do not establish that every function is present across the entire range.
What you need for smart features
Basic washing does not require the app. Connected functions cited by Samsung require a SmartThings-compatible Android or iOS device, Wi-Fi and a Samsung account.

- Enable the relevant remote or energy features on the appliance and in the app.
- Select a supported course before looking for AI Energy Mode. Samsung lists Normal, AI Wash, Super Clean, Jeans, Aqua Preserve, Towels and Clean Wash for the cited models; the list can differ by variant.
If pairing fails, check 2.4GHz/route compatibility where required by the model, app permissions, firmware, account login and the full model suffix. A phone that runs SmartThings does not make every washer feature available.

Launch coverage reported a starting price of ₹24,490 on May 21, 2025, with sales through Samsung retail outlets, Samsung.com, the Samsung Shop app and major e-commerce platforms: Gizmochina’s launch report. That is a historical starting price, not a verified October 2026 street price. Promotions, stock, delivery and installation can change by seller and model.
Samsung’s India product pages confirm online listings for several capacities, but they do not establish one current price for every WA80F suffix. Check the full listing, warranty document and service coverage for your delivery postcode.
Who should consider one?
- Households that specifically want a top-loader with optional connected controls.
- Existing SmartThings users who value monitoring or energy tracking.
- Families needing 10kg to 14kg capacity for regular bulky loads.
- Buyers who prefer automatic load-based adjustments but still want conventional top-load operation.
Who may be better served elsewhere?
- Anyone seeking the simplest washer with no app, account or Wi-Fi setup.
- Homes with unreliable internet where connected functions would be frustrating.
- Shoppers prioritizing independently measured cleaning, repairability or long-term reliability. The available sources do not independently test these India-market top-load models; testing of other Samsung laundry products at Reviewed cannot be transferred to this range.
- Buyers outside India, where these model numbers may not be sold, electrically compatible or serviced.
- People expecting garment-by-garment recognition, conversational laundry instructions or perfect stain removal. The documented system supports load sensing and parameter adjustment, not those broader capabilities.
Checks before ordering
- Compare the complete model suffix, not just “WA80F” and the capacity.
- Confirm heater, Hygiene Steam, Super Speed, Wi-Fi and supported AI Energy courses on that exact listing.
- Measure floor space, lid clearance, inlet and drain access, and the path through doors and stairs.
- Ask for the official warranty terms. Secondary coverage mentions a 20-year motor warranty, but that should not be treated as 20-year coverage for the whole appliance, parts or labor.
- For vibration complaints, verify leveling and load balance before assuming the AI VRT+ system has failed.
What remains unproven
No located evidence independently establishes that these washers clean better, run quieter, use less water, last longer or cost less to operate than conventional top-loaders. The 25% fabric-care and 20% energy figures are bounded Samsung claims, and the 99.9% hygiene statement applies to a specified heated cycle and certain bacteria. Capacity, branding and automation do not by themselves establish value.
Bottom line
Samsung’s India-only WA80F range adds practical sensor-driven automation to a conventional top-load format. AI Wash can reduce manual cycle selection, and SmartThings can provide monitoring and conditional energy optimization. The trade-off is greater setup complexity, variant-by-variant feature differences and headline claims that depend on specific tests. Buy for the top-load design, capacity and Samsung ecosystem—not on the word “AI” alone.
