If you are considering one, identify its exact variant, test its functions, and confirm parts compatibility before buying. Philips lists related Vienna models as discontinued or unavailable, but that does not establish the status of every Vienna Deluxe variant.
What the Saeco Vienna Deluxe does
The Saeco Vienna De Luxe SUP 018 Cr operating manual describes a home-use machine that makes espresso from whole coffee beans and dispenses steam and hot water. It is intended for normal home use, not commercial use. The removable brewing unit and Pannarello wand support a hands-on maintenance and milk-frothing workflow; the wand is not an automatic milk-drink system.
Specifications vary by model and document. The figures below apply only to the named variant or source, not to every machine sold under the Vienna name.
| Variant or document | Specifications listed | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Vienna RI9737/20 | 350 g bean container; 1.7 L water tank; 15-bar pump pressure; 285 × 400 × 375 mm; 9.1 kg | Philips product page for RI9737/20: product specifications. These are not universal Vienna Deluxe specifications. |
| Vienna De Luxe SUP 018 Cr | 337 × 325 × 377 mm; 8.5 kg; 1.7 L water container; 350 g bean capacity; 13–15 bar; two aluminum boilers | Saeco operating manual for SUP 018 Cr: manual. |
| Vienna De Luxe historical technical sheet | 1250 W; 120 V; 19 lb; 13 × 15 × 13 inches | Historical technical sheet hosted by a third party: technical sheet. It should not be treated as applying to every revision or current sale. |
The official Philips RI9737/21 support page labels that related variant discontinued; Philips’ RI9737/20 page says it is no longer available. Check the rating plate rather than assuming those status labels describe every Vienna Deluxe.

What to check before buying a used Vienna Deluxe
Treat a listing as used, refurbished, or remaining stock unless the seller can establish otherwise. The available sources do not establish live marketplace availability, current prices, or the condition of any individual machine. Use these checks to assess the specific unit:
- Record the exact model and electrical rating. Photograph the rating plate and note the full type designation and voltage. The SUP 018 Cr manual says voltage and power are shown on the plate; match the machine to the manual for its variant and region.
- Ask for a working demonstration. Have the seller show bean grinding, coffee dispensing, steam and hot-water dispensing, and normal shutdown. Ask whether leaks, unusual noises, or faults have been addressed.
- Inspect condition and completeness. Look for leaks, a damaged power cable, missing removable parts, and visible signs of neglected cleaning. A demonstration cannot establish the machine’s longer-term reliability.
- Check the maintenance history. Ask when the water container and brew group were last cleaned and whether the machine has been descaled. Get the exact-variant manual before attempting maintenance.
- Verify parts by model number. Philips’ HD5050/01 brew-group sheet names Vienna De Luxe as a compatible family but also directs buyers to check compatibility. Confirm that the part fits the exact type on the rating plate before ordering.
How to judge whether it fits your needs
- Choose it only if you are comfortable with a legacy machine. Its documented features include whole-bean brewing, removable components, steam, and hot water; the condition and support situation depend on the particular unit.
- Expect a manual milk workflow. The historical technical sheet describes a Pannarello steam wand. Frothing milk requires using the wand rather than selecting an automatic milk-drink program.
- Include care in the comparison. The operating manual has separate instructions for the water container, brew group, and descaling. Confirm that the actual machine has its removable parts and that the brew group is the correct one.
- Compare condition and service history, not the name alone. Ask whether the unit performs each function and whether known issues were repaired; the available documentation does not establish failure rates.
Cleaning, descaling, and parts compatibility
For the SUP 018 Cr, the manual says to clean and maintain the machine only when it is cold and disconnected from power. It warns against immersing the machine or putting components in a dishwasher, and recommends cleaning the water container daily and filling it with fresh drinking water. Follow the manual for the exact model and region rather than applying one variant’s procedure to all Vienna machines.

Philips’ HD5050/01 brew-group sheet identifies Vienna De Luxe in its compatibility information and describes the brew group as detachable for cleaning. It also says to check product specifications for compatible machines. The family name alone is not proof of fit.
The RI9737/21 support page lists descaler CA6700/47, maintenance kit CA6706/48, and Brita Intenza+ filter CA6702/00. Its page says the filter is for Saeco espresso machines and should be replaced every two months; that guidance is presented for RI9737/21. Confirm the exact legacy model’s manual and compatibility before using those products.

The SUP 018 Cr manual warns that repairs by anyone other than authorized service centers and use of non-original spare parts can invalidate the warranty. This is the manual’s stated warning, not confirmation of warranty coverage on a particular legacy machine.
Why is my Saeco Vienna Deluxe not grinding?
The Philips support material includes the question “My Saeco/Philips espresso machine does not grind the coffee beans,” but that wording does not diagnose a Vienna Deluxe fault or establish how common the problem is. For a specific machine, note what happens during an attempted brew and consult the manual for its exact type. Do not open the machine or attempt a repair based on the symptom alone; the SUP 018 Cr manual directs repairs to authorized service centers.

How do I clean and descale a Vienna Deluxe?
Start with the operating manual for the exact model and region, since the cited cleaning guidance is for SUP 018 Cr and parts or procedures may differ across variants. For that model, disconnect power and let the machine cool before cleaning, do not immerse it or put components in a dishwasher, and clean the water container daily with fresh drinking water. Use only descaling instructions and products confirmed for the machine’s exact variant.
