Ryobi’s current U.S. 80V riding-mower lineup includes a 42-inch zero-turn ZR3 and a 30-inch R1 riding mower. The ZR3 is listed at $3,999 and the R1 at $2,999, both as special buys in the collection accessed October 8, 2026. Ryobi claims the ZR3 can mow up to 2 acres in ECO mode with its included two 80V 14Ah batteries; that is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee or an independent test result. Older models, including the 54-inch RYRM8034, are marked discontinued, so their specifications should not be mistaken for current availability.
Current Ryobi electric riding mowers
Ryobi’s U.S. 80V collection lists two current riding mower kits. The collection’s prices and special-buy labels are time-sensitive; confirm the listing and what is included before purchasing.
| Model | Format and deck | Collection price observed October 8, 2026 | Battery and runtime details established by Ryobi |
|---|---|---|---|
| RY80HPRM04K-ZR3 | 42-inch zero-turn riding mower | $3,999, special buy | Includes two 80V 14Ah batteries. Ryobi claims up to 2 acres per charge in ECO mode; actual coverage depends on conditions. Ryobi also describes its power as equivalent to a 25 HP gas engine. Ryobi product page |
| RY80HPRM05K-R1 | 30-inch riding lawn mower | $2,999, special buy | The accessed collection does not establish a comparable battery configuration or acreage claim. Check the exact kit listing for included batteries and charger. Ryobi product page |
The collection also marks these older 80V models as discontinued: RYRM8060 (42-inch tractor), RYRM8070 (46-inch tractor), RYRM8034 (54-inch zero-turn), RYRM8021 (42-inch zero-turn), and RYRM8010 (30-inch zero-turn). Older product pages can remain useful for specifications and parts references, but they do not establish current stock, repair support, battery availability, or warranty coverage. Which mower fits your lawn?
Choose by layout, not acreage alone
A 42-inch deck can cover more open lawn per pass than a 30-inch deck, but width is only one part of productivity. Trees, narrow gates, landscaping, slopes, grass condition, and operator familiarity all affect how easily and quickly a mower can work. Measure the tightest gate and storage opening, and check the turning and access space needed around obstacles before choosing a larger machine.

- PEAK POWER TECHNOLOGY: Combines power of up to six EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries to deliver up to 20,000 watts of power, equivalent to a 21-horsepower gas engine.
- LONG RUNTIME: Cordless tractor cuts up to 1.5 acres on a single charge with six included 6.0Ah batteries.
- CUSTOMIZE YOUR RIDE: Digital LCD display includes three blade settings, three drive speeds, and cruise control. Mows at up to 6 MPH.
- TWELVE CUTTING HEIGHT POSITIONS: Easily adjust the cutting deck on the electric riding mower to get the grass height you want, anywhere from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
- REAR TOW HITCH: Haul loads around your property with Power Beyond Belief.
The ZR3 is explicitly a zero-turn model. The R1 is listed as a riding mower, not a zero-turn. Do not assume that controls or features from an older Ryobi zero-turn transfer to either current kit; consult each current product page for its controls and operating details.
Use the acreage claim cautiously
Ryobi’s ZR3 claim is “up to” 2 acres in ECO mode with the included two 80V 14Ah batteries. The product information does not quantify how grass height, density, terrain, speed, or attachment use changes that figure. Treat it as an advertised best-case capacity, not a promise that the mower will finish a particular property on one charge. No matched independent test of ZR3 and R1 runtime is established here.

Pros and trade-offs
Potential advantages
- No gasoline engine service items: Ryobi describes its older RYRM8034 as having no belts, spark plugs, filters, gas, or fumes, and as providing quiet cutting. Those are manufacturer statements; no sound measurements or lifecycle-cost comparison is established.
- Wide deck and zero-turn format on the ZR3: The current ZR3 combines a 42-inch deck with a zero-turn format. This can suit open areas with obstacles, but does not by itself prove faster mowing or better handling for every property.
- Electric operation: A battery mower avoids fueling and gasoline-engine maintenance. The purchase decision still needs to account for charging, battery replacement, storage, service access, and the work required by your lawn.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Substantial upfront cost: The observed prices are $3,999 for the ZR3 and $2,999 for the R1, each labeled special buy. Prices can change, and accessories or replacement batteries may add to ownership cost.
- Runtime varies: The ZR3’s acreage figure is an advertised claim under a specified ECO-mode setup, not a verified result for every lawn. The accessed materials do not establish a comparable R1 acreage figure.
- Performance evidence is limited: Manufacturer pages describe features and claims, not comparative testing of cut quality, runtime in varied conditions, noise, repair rates, or long-term battery degradation.
What the discontinued 54-inch RYRM8034 tells used-mower buyers
The RYRM8034 is a discontinued 54-inch zero-turn, not one of Ryobi’s current kits. Its historical product page advertised up to 4 acres per charge and 42 horsepower equivalent. It lists five brushless motors and a battery setup of three 80V 10Ah and four 40V 12Ah batteries. These are historical manufacturer specifications, not a current availability claim or an independent performance result. Ryobi RYRM8034 product page
The older mower’s documented features may help evaluate a used unit, but do not assume they apply to current models. Ryobi lists a 54-inch 10-gauge steel deck, six-blade Cross Cut system, side discharge and mulching capability, 12 manual height positions from 1.5 to 4.5 inches, LCD panel, LED headlights, and one-handed iDrive controls. These design specifications do not independently establish cut quality.

Ryobi also said the RYRM8034 could use its included 40V batteries with the company’s 40V platform. That is specific to the older model; do not assume its battery arrangement or cross-platform compatibility applies to the ZR3 or R1.
Checks before buying an older mower
- Confirm the exact model and serial number, then ask Ryobi or an authorized service center about parts and repair support.
- Check battery condition and replacement availability for the exact model; do not rely on a current 80V collection listing as proof of compatibility.
- Inspect the deck, blades, controls, charger, and included batteries, and confirm what is part of the sale.
- Get warranty terms in writing for the specific unit and purchase. A used product’s warranty status should not be assumed from a general warranty document.
Cutting, bagging, and replacement parts
Do not assume bagging, mulching, or accessories are included with a mower kit. Ryobi lists model-specific parts and accessories, including blades, covers, mulch kits, bagger equipment, and bagging blades. Fit can vary by model and deck size, so match the exact model number before ordering. Ryobi parts and support

Confirm the batteries and charger included in the exact kit rather than comparing mower prices alone. The accessed 80V collection separately lists an 80V 14Ah battery at $699, an 80V 10Ah battery at $899, and an 80V Hyper Charger at $704.95. These are collection prices observed October 8, 2026, and may change; the listing alone does not establish that a particular extra battery or charger is compatible with a specific mower. Before buying, check that you have a suitable place to store the mower and charge its batteries, and consider how charging fits the time available for mowing. For a used mower, verify that the charger and all required batteries are present and working. The available product information does not provide a like-for-like charging-time comparison between the current R1 and ZR3.
Warranty and service
A warranty document surfaced on Ryobi’s support site states three years of product coverage for personal, family, or household use and one year for batteries. It states a 90-day period for commercial, rental, or other income-producing use. The document also describes proof-of-purchase requirements, authorized service-center work, and owner responsibility for transporting the product to and from the service center. Because it is not confirmed here as the exact warranty for each newer mower kit, verify the terms tied to the specific model, battery, purchase, and use. Ryobi warranty information
The RYRM8034 page advertises mobile service in select regions. That does not establish availability for every location or mower; ask Ryobi whether service is offered for your model and address.
Quick Recap
How to make the decision
- Measure access and storage: Check gate openings, tight turns, and storage clearance against the mower’s dimensions.
- Match deck and format to the property: Consider whether the 42-inch ZR3’s wider zero-turn format or the 30-inch R1’s narrower deck better fits your open space and constraints.
- Estimate realistic mowing demand: Use the ZR3’s up-to-2-acre ECO claim as a manufacturer estimate, not a guarantee; the accessed information does not establish a comparable R1 acreage claim.
- Confirm kit contents and accessory fit: Verify batteries, charger, and any bagging or mulching equipment included, then check model-specific compatibility for anything extra.
- Check total ownership support: Confirm current price, warranty terms, replacement-battery options, and service availability for your model and location.
