Its LiDAR mapping, long claimed runtime and good hard-floor pickup remain useful, yet app compatibility, battery age, consumables and regional support make it a legacy buy in 2026. Consider one only when the price is substantially below a current robot and the seller proves that the robot, dock, mop system and app all work.
What the Eve Plus actually is
The Eve Plus is a robot vacuum with a passive microfiber mop, LiDAR room mapping and a self-emptying charging dock. The robot carries a small combined dust-and-water container; after cleaning, it returns to the dock, which transfers dust into a disposable bag. Infrared, edge, wall-following and drop sensors support navigation.
Roidmi marketed the dock as deodorizing or sterilizing. That wording should not be confused with a modern all-in-one mop station: the Eve Plus does not wash the mop pad, dry it with hot air or refill its water tank. The owner still handles the wet, dirty mop.
The product was launched against robots such as the Roborock S5 Max and S6 MaxV generation. In 2026, newer machines offer more automated mop care and clearer support, so the Eve Plus must be judged as discounted legacy hardware rather than a current flagship.

Roidmi’s global site now emphasizes newer products, and a current official global Eve Plus listing was not found. A secondary review also reported that sales had ended, although regional sellers may still have leftover stock. “Self-cleaning” and “self-sterilizing”: what you get

The dock’s deodorizing particle generator is intended to reduce odors or sanitize the dust-collection environment. No regulatory or laboratory evidence establishes medical-grade sterilization, and the feature does not sterilize floors, mop fibers or every internal component. A damp mop left on the robot can still smell or develop mold.
The manual tells owners to remove the mopping module, drain excess water and clean the mop. Those instructions are decisive: this is automatic dust disposal, not autonomous mop maintenance. See the independent review and manual PDF.

Vacuum performance
Hard floors and everyday debris
Original hands-on testing found good overall pickup on hard floors. The Eve Plus is well suited to daily dust, crumbs and ordinary pet hair in open rooms, especially when the dock can empty its relatively small onboard bin automatically.
Carpet
The same reviewer found carpet cleaning became substantially more thorough at maximum suction with two passes. Under those conditions, the reviewer’s carpet result was comparable to an upright Dyson; that is a single reviewer’s observation, not a standardized laboratory comparison. Deep or thick carpet remains a weak reason to choose this older robot.
Bin capacity, edges and hair
In that test, the onboard bin filled after roughly 1,000 square feet before the robot returned to empty itself. Hair still has to be removed from the roller, side brushes and wheels. Edge cleaning and fine-dust results depend on room layout and maintenance, and no independent decibel measurement establishes a universal noise advantage.
Think of the Eve Plus as a maintenance cleaner. It reduces routine vacuuming but does not replace occasional deep cleaning.

Mopping: useful for light marks, not scrubbing
The mop is a flat microfiber pad with electronically controlled water delivery. The app offers multiple flow settings, and the tank holds about 250 ml (8.5 oz). It is intended for hard floors and should not be used on carpet.
Testing found it suitable for superficial dirt and flatter surfaces after vacuuming. Grout gaps of about one-half inch were harder to clean because a passive pad does not agitate recesses. It cannot match a rotating or vibrating mop for dried spills, textured tile or heavy soil.
After every run, remove the module, empty remaining water, rinse the pad and let it dry fully. Never leave a wet mop attached while the robot charges. The manual recommends replacing the mop every three to six months, depending on use, and using a Roidmi-supplied pad.
Navigation, mapping and dock placement
LiDAR mapping enables room naming, room- or area-specific cleaning, schedules, no-go zones, virtual barriers and carpet exclusion while mopping. The robot can return to charge at about 10 percent battery, then resume unfinished work. A regional product page claims fourth-generation laser scanning and 2 cm obstacle climbing; treat those as regional marketing specifications rather than independently verified results.

Give the dock clear approach space and keep the LiDAR turret unobstructed. Moving the dock or large furniture can invalidate the map. If rooms are missed, rebuild or inspect the map, rename rooms and use partitions or no-go zones instead of judging navigation from one post-reset run.
The original review liked the mapping options but found some app menus unintuitive. Voice-assistant availability and exact controls can vary by region and software version.
App and Wi-Fi setup
- Install the ROIDMI app, or the supported Mi Home/Xiaomi Home route where your region permits it.
- Sign in or create an account.
- Reset the robot’s Wi-Fi by holding the specified robot buttons together for more than three seconds.
- Tap +, choose the robot-cleaner/Eve Plus entry and follow the pairing prompts.
- Connect through a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; the manual says 5 GHz is unsupported.
- Keep the phone on the robot’s temporary setup network until pairing finishes.
The manual warns that some overseas regions may not support Mi Home. Device names, regions and app availability can change, and an app entry labelled “ROIDMI EVE” is not proof that it is the exact Eve Plus. If the current app cannot list or recognize a prospective purchase, treat that as a major ownership risk rather than assuming a reset will solve it. References: manual HTML and manual PDF.
Battery and practical coverage
Roidmi advertises up to 250 minutes, a maximum claim that depends on suction, floor type, repeat passes, battery condition and travel efficiency. In the original review, the robot cleaned about 1,000 square feet of carpet plus roughly 400 square feet of tile with substantial charge remaining. That result is a test observation, not a guaranteed household coverage figure. Aged batteries in used units may perform very differently.

Maintenance you still have to do
After every mopping run
- Remove the mop module.
- Drain excess water.
- Rinse and completely air-dry the pad.
- Do not charge with a wet mop attached.
Regular checks
- Clean the roller and brush cover.
- Remove hair from side brushes and the universal wheel.
- Wipe the LiDAR, edge, infrared-docking and wall-tracking sensors.
- Clean charging contacts.
- Inspect the robot dust outlet and dock inlet if emptying weakens.
- Replace the bag before it is overfilled.
- Monitor filter condition in the app where that feature still works.
The manual’s three-to-six-month mop replacement recommendation depends on use. Filters, brushes, bags and pads are recurring costs, and regional availability must be confirmed before purchase.
Legacy ownership and failure checks in 2026
Before buying used, refurbished or leftover stock, require a live demonstration and a meaningful return period. Verify:
- The original dock, correct power cable and dust-bag holder are included.
- The robot docks, charges and automatically empties into a fitted bag.
- The laser mapping system works and the current app pairs on a 2.4 GHz network.
- The combined tank is leak-free and the pump dispenses water.
- Replacement bags, filters, brushes and mop pads can be obtained in your country.
- The battery completes a representative cleaning cycle.
- Local warranty or service coverage is documented.
Owners have posted anecdotal reports of offline or app-recognition problems, water-pump errors and dock-emptying failures. These reports do not establish a failure rate, but they are meaningful second-hand risk signals: server/app discussion, water-pump discussion and base discussion.
Common problems and recovery steps
Robot will not connect
- Confirm the phone and robot are on 2.4 GHz.
- Reset Wi-Fi using the manual’s button combination.
- Try ROIDMI and, where officially supported, Mi Home/Xiaomi Home.
- Check the selected app region and remain on the temporary setup network during pairing.
- If the current app no longer recognizes the device, return the unit rather than relying on unofficial workarounds.
Dock does not empty the bin
- Fit a new bag correctly and check whether the old one is full.
- Clear the dock inlet and robot outlet.
- Seat the robot squarely on its contacts.
- Clean contacts and sensors.
- Persistent failure can indicate a seal, fan, dock or sensor fault; a software reset cannot repair a failed motor.
Water-pump or mopping error
- Reseat the combined dust-and-water container and mop module.
- Clear lint around the outlet and pump path.
- Empty old water and clean the pad.
- Stop using the mop if the tank leaks or water approaches the charging area.
Wet mop remains attached
Remove the module and excess water whenever the robot charges or is idle. This is a design limitation, not a setting that turns the Eve Plus into a self-washing system.

Do not buy a legacy Eve Plus at a price close to a current machine with warranty, consumables and an actively maintained app. Avoid unverified marketplace batteries or bags; exact regional revisions matter.
Who should buy the Eve Plus?
It can make sense when
- The price is deeply discounted.
- Vacuuming and automatic dust disposal matter more than automated mopping.
- Your home is mostly hard floor or low-to-medium-pile carpet.
- You will rinse and dry the mop after every use.
- The dock, bags and accessories are included.
- App pairing is demonstrated before payment and a return window exists.
Choose something else when
- You expect mop washing, drying or automatic water refill.
- Deep carpet cleaning is your priority.
- You need dependable current US warranty and service.
- Consumables cannot be sourced locally.
- Your home has high thresholds, heavy clutter or frequent wet messes.
- The seller cannot demonstrate app connectivity or dock emptying.
Final verdict
The Eve Plus was capable early self-emptying hardware: LiDAR maps rooms, vacuuming is solid for daily debris, and the dock removes much of the dust-bin routine. Its mop is only a passive wipe, however, and “self-sterilizing” describes a limited dock deodorizing function—not certified disinfection. In 2026, buy only a well-tested, sharply discounted unit with confirmed app access, a healthy battery, a working dock and locally available consumables. For most buyers, a current Roborock or eufy model is the lower-risk investment.
