The Robotin R2 Pro is designed to do more than vacuum carpet: it combines routine vacuuming and mopping with a separate carpet-washing module that scrubs, extracts dirty water and circulates warm air to dry the carpet. The concept is unusual, but buyers should treat its performance figures as manufacturer claims. The product page lists a price of $1,699 and says the project is live on Kickstarter, so availability, delivery, warranty and support should be confirmed before purchase.
Earlier announcements called the machine the Robotin R2; Robotin’s current product branding is Robotin R2 Pro.

What is the Robotin R2 Pro?
The R2 Pro is a modular autonomous cleaning robot rather than a conventional robot vacuum with a special carpet setting. Its shared robot platform works with two described modules:
- Carpet wash-and-dry module: intended to scrub carpet, extract wastewater and dry the carpet with warm air.
- Vacuum-and-mop module: intended for everyday sweeping, vacuuming and mopping on hard floors and routine carpet maintenance.
A base station handles charging, clean-water refilling, dirty-water collection and dust handling. Robotin describes the product as capable of spill cleanup, scheduled cleaning, room selection, multi-floor maps and no-go zones.

Robotin announced the original R2 Kickstarter launch on September 23, 2025, and announced a CES 2026 appearance for January 6–9, 2026. The company’s CES announcement also described the vacuum module’s mopping function. See the official product page and CES announcement.
How the carpet-washing system works
Robotin describes a three-stage process:
- Scrubbing: dual dirt-lifter brushes and a pump work cleaning solution into the carpet.
- Extraction: suction removes loosened dirt, allergens, pet waste and wastewater.
- Drying: warm air is circulated through the cleaned carpet after washing.
The manufacturer lists a washing rate of approximately 300–400 square feet per hour and drying of approximately 300–400 square feet in two hours. In practical terms, a 300–400-square-foot area could require about an hour of washing followed by as much as two hours of drying, before navigation, docking, setup or repeat passes are included. That is an inference from Robotin’s stated rates, not an independent test.
Recommended Free Tools
Robotin also lists warm-air drying at approximately 110°F (43°C), water heating at approximately 140°F (60°C), humidity sensors and dirt detection that can trigger additional cleaning. Those features may help manage moisture and soil levels, but the available coverage does not independently verify that every carpet and carpet pad will be fully dry.
What does “autonomous AI” mean?
Robotin says the R2 Pro uses AI perception and sensor fusion to detect floor materials, map rooms and carpets, avoid obstacles, plan cleaning paths and identify areas needing additional passes. The product page refers to 12 types of sensors, but does not provide a complete sensor-by-sensor list in the available specifications.
That means “autonomous” should not be read as guaranteed hands-off operation in every home. Performance may depend on thresholds, clutter, lighting, carpet texture, furniture, cables, wet areas and the accuracy of the floor map. The robot’s ability to clean stairs, vertical carpet or inaccessible edges should not be assumed.

There are apparent inconsistencies on the official page. One section lists a 2-liter dust bin, while another refers to a 1.3-liter dust bin. The page also gives different dust-collection-duration descriptions. These may refer to different components or revised specifications, but the published information does not resolve the discrepancy. Confirm the final production specifications before ordering.
Water use and drying limitations
Robotin claims that approximately 70% of the water is recycled and that one dock refill serves roughly 300–400 square feet. The listed tank capacities are 2.4 gallons for clean water and 1.6 gallons for dirty water.
The product information does not fully explain the recycling mechanism, usable tank capacity, wastewater filtration or cleaning-solution requirements. Confirm whether proprietary detergent is required, whether third-party solutions are allowed and whether water-only operation is supported.
Warm-air drying is an important part of the proposition, but it is not proof that every carpet backing or pad will be dry after the stated cycle. After the first cleaning, check for dampness, odor and recurring wet spots. Carpet manufacturers’ care instructions and warranty requirements should take priority, especially for wool, viscose, silk, Berber, shag and other specialty carpets.

For everyday dust, crumbs and pet hair, a conventional robot vacuum may be the simpler choice. Standard robot vacuums are designed primarily for loose-debris removal; many lift or avoid a mop on carpet rather than wet-cleaning the fibers.
The R2 Pro is positioned differently. Its potential advantage is combining daily floor cleaning with periodic wet carpet treatment. Third-party coverage from Vacuum Wars and Tom’s Guide confirms the product’s unusual category and announced functions, but the reviewed material does not provide a complete independent performance test.

Can it replace a portable carpet cleaner or professional service?
Not completely. The R2 Pro may reduce the need for manual cleaning when a home has substantial carpet and recurring spills or pet accidents. Its autonomous operation could make regular maintenance more convenient than bringing out a portable extractor.
However, the machine is not established by the available evidence as a replacement for a professional extractor or restorative cleaning. A portable carpet cleaner remains more practical for stairs, upholstery, edges and targeted spot treatment. Professional service remains the safer option for severe soil, deep odors, delicate or valuable carpet and large-scale restoration.
Fresh spills, visible surface stains, dried stains and urine that has penetrated the pad are different problems. Robotin’s references to tough stains, allergens and pet urine are marketing claims, not evidence that every stain or odor will be removed. Pretreatment or manual work may still be necessary.

Large base station
The station is listed at approximately 31.73 × 18.46 × 25.33 inches, making it substantially larger than a standard robot-vacuum dock. Plan for approach and departure clearance, an electrical outlet, access for filling and emptying water, and a moisture-resistant surface. Operating noise, required clearances and warm-air exhaust are not specified in the available product material.
Module swapping
The modular design is central to the product, but the published information does not fully explain how often modules must be swapped, whether swapping is tool-free, how the spare module is stored or whether the robot can select the correct module automatically. Confirm what is included in the $1,699 listing and whether the separately listed $200 accessories are optional or necessary for normal operation.

Maintenance
Self-refilling and automatic emptying do not eliminate maintenance. Buyers should request clear instructions for cleaning the dirty-water system and carpet module, replacing brushes, filters and dust bags, adding detergent, managing hair and fibers, and clearing clogged hoses or brushes. The available product page does not provide a complete maintenance schedule.
Carpet and floor compatibility
Robotin says its system can detect floor materials and map carpets, but the available information does not specify compatible fibers, maximum pile height, pad types or transition heights. Before purchase, ask whether the R2 Pro is approved for your carpet and whether wet cleaning could affect the carpet manufacturer’s warranty. Do not assume it can safely wash every rug or carpet in a home.
Price, availability and crowdfunding risk
Robotin’s current product page lists the R2 Pro at $1,699 and accessories at $200. The same page says the project is live on Kickstarter. Therefore, the listed amount should not automatically be treated as the price of an ordinary, immediately deliverable retail appliance.
Before pledging or preordering, verify the estimated delivery date, refund terms, warranty length, return process, shipping charges, geographic support, replacement-part availability and final production specifications. Kickstarter pledges carry different risks from purchases through an established retailer. Serviceability and long-term support are not established by the available sources.

| Need | More suitable option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Daily dust and pet-hair removal | Standard robot vacuum | Simpler and generally better suited to routine debris removal. |
| Hard-floor vacuuming and mopping | Established robot vacuum/mop | Better fit when carpet washing is not important. Examples include models from Dreame, Roborock, Dyson or iRobot. |
| Stairs, upholstery and spot treatment | Portable carpet cleaner | Direct manual control and access to surfaces a floor robot cannot reach. Tineco is one example of a carpet-cleaner manufacturer: Tineco. |
| Severe soil or delicate carpet | Professional carpet-cleaning service | More appropriate for restorative work and specialist handling. |
Robotin’s comparisons with Dreame, Roomba and Dyson are company-authored, so they should be treated as product positioning rather than neutral testing.
Who should consider it?
The R2 Pro is most compelling for an early adopter with substantial carpet, recurring pet accidents or spills, enough room for its large station and a willingness to accept crowdfunding and first-generation product risk. Its value depends on whether automated wet cleaning is worth more to you than a conventional robot vacuum plus occasional manual extraction.
It is a weaker fit for mostly hard-floor homes, delicate or high-pile carpet, buyers who need immediate spot cleaning, multilevel homes with stairs, or anyone who requires a mature repair network and extensive independent testing.
