The Roborock Saros Z70 is no longer a preorder: it went on sale in the U.S. in May 2025. Roborock’s U.S. store currently lists it for $1,299.99, down from a displayed reference price of $2,599. Its defining feature is an arm that can move some small objects, but independent launch reviews found autonomous pickup inconsistent. For most buyers, the key question is whether that feature is worth paying for over a premium robot vacuum focused on cleaning.

Availability and price in the U.S.

Roborock announced the Saros Z70 at CES in January 2025, and independent launch coverage reports U.S. sales began in May 2025. The preorder framing is therefore historical, not a description of its current availability. TechRadar’s review and launch coverage provides that timing.

On the Roborock U.S. store listing, the observed price is $1,299.99 against a displayed reference price of $2,599; Black and Silver are listed. The store also lists free shipping and a 30-day return period from delivery. These are page snapshots, not guaranteed future prices or terms. During the preorder period, promotions reportedly included bundles, but the available historical offer details do not establish a universal price, included product, or eligibility for every customer.

What the OmniGrip arm does

The Z70’s OmniGrip is a foldable, five-axis mechanical arm that retracts into the robot when idle. Roborock says it can detect objects on an initial run, return to them, move selected items out of the way, or place certain objects in user-designated locations. The arm can also be controlled through the Roborock app. Roborock calls it the first mass-produced robot vacuum with this type of arm; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independently audited industry ranking. Roborock’s product description outlines its intended functions.

Manual control and autonomous handling are different

Manual app control lets a user direct the arm toward an object. Autonomous pickup and sorting ask the robot to recognize an object, approach it, grasp it, and move it without that direction. Independent reviewers found manual control more usable than unattended object handling, which could be inconsistent: the robot might pick an item up and then put it down again. TechRadar found the cleaning and navigation stronger than the autonomous arm experience, while WIRED judged the arm too unreliable at launch to justify its premium for many buyers. TechRadar and WIRED review findings reflect launch-era software and may not match every later firmware version.

Objects and limits

The user documentation and independent coverage put the arm’s maximum object weight at 0.3 kg (300 g). Reported examples include socks, tissues, small towels, lightweight slippers, and some small toys. That is a limit, not a promise that every object under that weight can be grasped. Results depend on the supported object category, its position and orientation, the surface, camera view, and software. Roborock’s user documentation, WIRED, and Consumer Reports describe the weight limit and handling.

  • Some objects on carpet or outside the camera’s usable area may be hard to identify or reach; manual control can require aligning the robot so the object is within the permitted camera area.
  • Hanging fabric, cords, holders, and similar fixtures can catch or obstruct the arm. If it becomes entangled, use the emergency stop or disable the arm and follow the manual rather than forcing the mechanism.
  • Do not ask the arm to lift objects over 300 g, or rely on it to protect fragile or valuable items. Keep it supervised around children and pets; the available evidence does not establish a broad safety guarantee.

Cleaning hardware and dock

Roborock lists 22,000 Pa HyperForce suction, a 7.98 cm (3.14 in) body, StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 navigation, a dual anti-tangle system, AdaptiLift chassis, FlexiArm riser technology, and Multifunctional Dock 4.0. These are manufacturer specifications; suction-pressure figures are not standardized comparative cleaning tests. The U.S. listing identifies the dock but does not establish every regional dock configuration or accessory as identical. Check the U.S. product listing for the configuration being sold rather than assuming drainage or other region-specific equipment is included. Saros Z70 or Saros 10R?

Roborock’s comparison identifies the Z70’s retractable five-axis arm as the major distinction from the Saros 10R. The Z70 shares much of the Saros platform, but the available comparison does not establish that the models are identical in every respect. Roborock’s comparison page lists the model differences.

Buyer priority What to consider
Moving small, light clutter The Z70 adds the OmniGrip arm, but autonomous handling was inconsistent in launch reviews and requires suitable objects and conditions.
Vacuuming, mopping, and navigation without an arm Compare the Saros 10R’s current price and specifications; the arm is the Z70’s principal stated differentiator.
Dependable unattended decluttering Neither the manufacturer’s feature description nor launch testing supports treating the Z70 as a general-purpose autonomous tidying robot.

The Z70 makes most sense for an early adopter who specifically values trying the arm, has recurring light clutter, and is willing to supervise or correct it. If ordinary floor cleaning and value matter more than object handling, compare the 10R before paying for the Z70’s extra mechanism.

It also lists free returns or replacement within 30 days of delivery and a 30-day price-protection statement. Confirm the current terms before ordering, including how the limited warranty applies to the mechanical arm; the listing does not establish coverage for accidental damage, misuse, or every possible arm failure.

Software can change what the arm does

Object categories, destinations, and handling behavior depend on software as well as hardware. Roborock announced Saros Z70 updates at IFA 2025, so a launch review is not a definitive account of current functionality. An announced update does not, by itself, verify that a feature is present in a particular user’s current firmware or app. Check the current app and release notes for available categories and settings, including whether the arm can be disabled, before relying on a specific task. Roborock’s IFA 2025 update announcement establishes that software changes were announced, not that every promised behavior is currently available.

Who should buy the Saros Z70?

  • Consider it if you want a premium vacuum-and-mop robot, are curious about robotic object handling, and accept that the arm may need supervision. A significant discount or bundle can improve the value, but verify the offer and terms.
  • Look elsewhere or compare the 10R if your main goal is reliable cleaning per dollar, hands-off clutter removal, or minimal maintenance and troubleshooting. The arm is a novel extra, not a substitute for clearing cords, fragile objects, or unsuitable clutter from the floor.
