Roborock Saros Z70 Debuted at CES 2025 With a Robotic Arm—Here’s What It Can Actually Pick Up

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Roborock’s Saros Z70 is a real robot vacuum and mop with a foldable, five-axis OmniGrip robotic arm—not merely a CES concept. Roborock unveiled it on January 5, 2025, at CES 2025. The arm is designed to identify and move small objects such as socks, tissues, sandals, and small towels weighing less than 300 grams, allowing the robot to clean areas that would otherwise be blocked.

That makes the Z70 unusual, but it does not make it a general-purpose tidying robot. It cannot be assumed to pick up toys, cables, dishes, pet waste, or arbitrary household clutter. The feature is best understood as a targeted solution for lightweight floor obstructions.

The short version

  • Model: Roborock Saros Z70
  • Debut: CES 2025, January 5, 2025
  • Arm: Foldable five-axis OmniGrip robotic arm
  • Rated arm load: 0.3 kg, or 300 grams
  • Initial supported examples: Socks, small towels, tissues, and sandals
  • Current U.S. status: Listed as orderable on Roborock’s official U.S. store

Roborock calls the Z70 a “robotic home assistant” and says it is the world’s first mass-produced robot vacuum with this type of robotic arm. Those are Roborock’s claims, but the product should no longer be described simply as a prototype shown at a trade show.

Roborock’s CES 2025 announcement and the official U.S. product page provide the primary product information.

How the OmniGrip arm works

The arm is not intended to roam around independently and tidy an entire room. Its role is tied to the robot’s normal cleaning process:

  1. The Z70 makes a conventional vacuuming and mopping pass.
  2. Its cameras, lighting, and sensors identify objects that may be suitable for the arm.
  3. It records objects and areas it could not clean because something was in the way.
  4. During a later pass, it returns to the identified objects.
  5. The arm grips and moves suitable items to locations configured by the user or out of the robot’s path.
  6. The robot cleans the newly accessible floor.

Roborock says the arm folds into the robot’s body and can extend, rotate, and manipulate objects across five axes. A camera, LED light, and sensors help determine an object’s position and whether it is too heavy. Recognition, however, is not the same as guaranteed successful pickup. Grip, shape, lighting, floor position, and nearby furniture can all affect the result.

What can the Saros Z70 pick up?

Roborock’s initial examples are:

  • Socks
  • Small towels
  • Tissue paper
  • Sandals

The official manual gives the arm a rated load of 0.3 kg. That is a maximum load rating, not a promise that every object below 300 grams will be easy or safe to handle. A light object may still be too flat, slippery, flexible, irregular, trapped under furniture, or positioned too close to a wall for reliable gripping.

Roborock has also said that software updates could add support for more object categories. Its launch material described an app-based object-definition feature supporting up to 50 additional user-defined objects. That capability, and its limits, may change with software updates and should be treated as a manufacturer-described feature.

What it cannot do

The Z70 should not be marketed or understood as a household robot that clears any clutter in its way. The documented arm capacity and supported categories do not establish that it can safely handle:

  • Heavy objects
  • Toys or hard household items
  • Dishes or glassware
  • Cables and tangled items
  • Pet waste
  • Fragile objects
  • Random, unrecognized clutter

Even when an object is light enough, the arm may not be able to reach or grip it. The robot still needs a reasonably navigable environment, and users may still need to clear cables, fragile items, pet messes, and other unsuitable objects before cleaning.

“Tidying” also means programmed relocation, not human-like organization. An item may be moved out of the cleaning route without being placed exactly where a person would want it.

Vacuum, navigation, and dock hardware

The arm is the headline feature, but the Saros Z70 is also a premium robot vacuum and mop. Roborock lists these specifications and systems:

  • Body height: 7.98 cm, or 3.14 inches
  • Rated suction: 22,000 Pa
  • Navigation: StarSight Autonomous System 2.0
  • Brush system: Dual anti-tangle system
  • Edge cleaning: FlexiArm Riser side-brush technology
  • Chassis: AdaptiLift
  • Dock: Multifunction Dock 4.0
  • Controls: Roborock app and voice control

Roborock says StarSight 2.0 uses dual-light 3D time-of-flight sensors and RGB cameras rather than a conventional lidar tower, and that it can recognize up to 108 obstacle types. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

The 22,000 Pa figure is also a specification rather than a complete measure of cleaning performance. It does not independently establish carpet pickup, hard-floor performance, noise, battery life, or durability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

According to the official Saros Z70 manual, the dock charges the robot, empties its dustbin, refills clean water, and washes and dries the mop cloths. Buyers should account for dock footprint, water handling, dust bags, filters, mop cloths, cleaning solution, and routine maintenance.

App controls and setup

The OmniGrip arm is initially disabled out of the box. Roborock says users can activate it through the Roborock app and configure:

  • Which supported objects the arm should interact with
  • Where objects should be placed
  • Additional object definitions, where supported

Exact menu labels and paths can vary by app and firmware version, so instructions should be checked against the current regional app rather than copied from an older product announcement. Software support is particularly important for this product because object recognition and arm behavior depend on firmware as well as the mechanical hardware.

Safety considerations

The arm adds moving joints and a gripper to a machine that operates around people, pets, furniture, and loose objects. Roborock says the Z70 includes a physical safety stop button, a child-lock feature, and sensors intended to detect position and load.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The manual warns users not to touch moving parts or exposed wiring while the arm is operating. It also instructs users to keep children and pets away, use the robot indoors, and avoid slopes.

These features and warnings describe the manufacturer’s design and instructions; they are not independent verification of how the arm behaves in every household. Families with curious pets or young children should consider whether an operating mechanical arm is appropriate for their space.

Is the Saros Z70 a real product?

Yes. At CES 2025, Roborock said the Z70 was a mass-produced product expected to launch in the first half of 2025. It is now listed on Roborock’s U.S. official store, so calling it only a concept is inaccurate.

Availability is not necessarily global, however. The cited purchase page is specifically for the United States, and functions, support, warranty terms, and stock may differ by country.

The U.S. store page displayed free delivery, 30-day returns or replacement, a one-year limited warranty, 30-day price protection, and optional extended warranty coverage. These are store-page signals rather than permanent terms, so buyers should review the conditions at checkout.

Do not confuse it with the Saros Rover

Roborock showed a separate product at CES 2026 called the Saros Rover. That machine is associated with wheel-leg architecture and stair-climbing demonstrations. It is not the arm-equipped Saros Z70.

During recharging, the main and side brushes are raised to avoid dirt transfer onto the floor, delivering a quiet and pristine mopping experience.

The Z70 is the CES 2025 robot vacuum with the OmniGrip arm. The Rover is a separate CES 2026 design, and the cited announcement did not establish a confirmed launch date. The distinction matters because descriptions of a stair-climbing Roborock should not be attached to the Z70.

Roborock’s CES 2026 announcement describes the Rover’s wheel-leg approach.

Who should consider buying it?

The Saros Z70 makes the most sense when small floor objects regularly prevent a robot vacuum from completing its route. It may be useful in homes where socks, tissues, small towels, or sandals are frequent obstacles and where the owner values advanced automation enough to accept a more complex machine.

It is a weaker choice when the home is already tidy before cleaning. In that case, the arm may add cost and mechanical complexity without solving a significant problem. A conventional premium robot vacuum may offer a better fit for buyers who prioritize mature cleaning performance, reliability, quiet operation, or value.

It is also a poor match for anyone expecting a general-purpose robotic housekeeper. Unsupported clutter will still need to be removed manually, and a 300-gram load limit sharply restricts what the arm can handle.

What independent testing still needs to establish

The official sources establish the design, specifications, safety instructions, and retail listing. They do not independently establish:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • How often the arm successfully moves supported objects
  • Whether recognition remains reliable in low light
  • How often objects are dropped or misplaced
  • Whether the robot consistently returns to blocked areas
  • How much battery power arm operation consumes
  • Whether the arm introduces meaningful long-term maintenance issues
  • How the vacuum performs on different floors, carpets, and pet environments
  • Whether software updates have expanded object support in a particular region

Those are the questions that determine whether the arm is genuinely useful rather than simply impressive in a CES demonstration.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Roborock Saros Z70 is a commercially listed CES 2025 robot vacuum with a five-axis arm that can target lightweight, supported objects under 300 grams. It is not an all-purpose clutter-clearing robot. Buy it if small floor obstructions are a recurring problem and you value experimental automation; choose a conventional premium robot vacuum if reliability, proven cleaning performance, and value matter more than robotic object handling.
