Its 7.98-cm body can reach under furniture that blocks many turret-equipped robots, and its split brush design is intended to reduce hair wrapping. But reduced tangling is not the same as strong embedded pet-hair pickup: independent testing found the 10R less convincing on carpet, especially with pet hair. The U.S. store price observed on August 18, 2026 was $899.99, far below its $1,599.99 launch MSRP; a separately indexed version of that store page showed $1,099.99, so check the live price before buying.
What the Saros 10R is—and who it suits
Roborock launched the Saros 10R in the United States on February 10, 2025, as a flagship robot vacuum and mop. It is distinct from the Saros 10: the 10R uses solid-state 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) navigation and dual rotating mop pads, while the Saros 10 uses retractable LDS navigation and a VibraRise mop system. Roborock’s launch announcement listed a U.S. MSRP of $1,599.99. The official U.S. product page retrieved on August 18, 2026 showed $899.99, while another indexed display of the same page showed $1,099.99. Those are time-sensitive listings, not a guaranteed current price. Roborock’s launch announcement and U.S. product page provide the product details.
The main case for the 10R is a combination of low-clearance access, capable obstacle avoidance, hard-floor cleaning and highly automated mopping. It is a weaker match for carpet-heavy homes where substantial pet hair becomes embedded in the pile. A sale price well below MSRP changes the value calculation, but does not change that floor-type trade-off.
Quick strengths and compromises
- Strengths: slim 7.98-cm body, strong independent hard-floor pickup, very good obstacle avoidance in testing, dual rotating mops, dock automation and reduced brush hair wrapping.
- Compromises: weaker embedded pet-hair pickup on carpet, lingering risks from thin cables and rug tassels, a large and maintenance-intensive dock, and 2.4-GHz-only Wi-Fi support on the U.S. product page.
Why its navigation makes a low robot possible
Many robot vacuums put a rotating LiDAR turret on top of the body. The Saros 10R instead integrates a solid-state 3D ToF system into the robot, so it has no raised turret and stands 7.98 cm (3.14 inches) tall. That difference matters where a bed, sofa or cabinet has a low underside: measure the tightest point, including any sagging upholstery or trim, rather than relying on an estimate.

During recharging, the main and side brushes are raised to avoid dirt transfer onto the floor, delivering a quiet and pristine mopping experience.
Roborock calls the system StarSight. It combines the body-mounted sensing system with an RGB camera and VertiBeam lateral sensing for obstacle and wall-edge handling. The company’s explanation of the 10R’s solid-state system versus the Saros 10’s retractable LDS is in its navigation comparison. The lower profile is a design advantage, not proof that every object or floor plan will be handled perfectly; lighting, object shape, reflective surfaces, cables, tassels and software behavior can all affect a run.
Roborock also specifies a 6,400-mAh battery and up to 20,000 Pa suction in its launch material. The suction number is a manufacturer specification, not a standardized cross-brand measure of pickup. Cleaning results on the actual floor type are more useful for choosing a robot than a Pa figure alone.
Obstacle avoidance: strong, but not a license to leave clutter out
RTINGS’ independent testing found the Saros 10R very effective around ordinary household obstacles, furniture, mirrors and pet waste. The same review flagged USB cables and rug tassels as concerns. A robot may avoid an object yet leave an uncleaned patch around it, and a thin cord can be difficult to distinguish from floor debris. The results are evidence about the tested conditions, not a guarantee for every home. See RTINGS’ Saros 10R review.
| Obstacle or condition | What to expect | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture legs, ordinary household objects and mirrors | Strong avoidance in RTINGS testing; narrow gaps and dense chair legs can still affect coverage. | Check the first mapped runs for areas the robot cannot enter or clean around. |
| USB cables and thin cords | Identified as a remaining concern in independent testing. | Pick them up before scheduled cleaning; do not rely on detection. |
| Rug fringe and tassels | Also identified as a concern; fringe can be missed or become caught. | Tuck it away or set an appropriate exclusion area. |
| Small toys, socks and pet bowls | Performance depends on size, position and recognition; no universal avoidance guarantee is established. | Clear loose items and confirm how the robot behaves around fixed bowls. |
| Pet accidents | RTINGS reported very good performance in its testing, but this is not a guarantee against a costly spread. | Remove accidents before a run whenever possible. |
| Dark or shiny objects | Behavior can depend on surface and lighting; there is no basis to treat all such objects as reliably recognized. | Observe the first runs in the rooms where these objects are common. |
The manual tells owners to remove wires and unstable, fragile, valuable or dangerous objects before cleaning. Obstacle sensing is a safety aid, not a substitute for preparing the floor. The Saros 10R manual also covers safe operation and dock setup.

Hair resistance is not the same as carpet pet-hair pickup
The 10R uses two anti-tangle components. The DuoDivide main brush is split so hair is directed toward the central dust inlet rather than wrapping around a continuous roller. The FlexiArm side brush extends toward edges and corners and is designed to reduce wrapping there. Roborock cites SGS-certified testing with a 0% hair-entanglement rate and a 100% hair-removal rate under the stated test conditions. These are manufacturer-reported test outcomes, not a promise that no hair will ever need removal in a household. The claim appears on the product page and in the launch announcement.
Independent testing supports the distinction: the split brush resisted tangles, but RTINGS found disappointing pickup of pet hair embedded in carpet, sometimes requiring multiple passes. A design that minimizes wrapping may provide less carpet agitation than a conventional roller. Hair can also collect at brush ends and bearings, wheels, side-brush mechanisms, filters or openings. In other words, the anti-tangle system can reduce a frequent nuisance without making the robot the best choice for every shedding pet or floor.
How the hair claim translates by surface
- Human hair on hard floors: reduced wrapping is useful, and independent hard-floor results were strong. Still inspect the brush and wheels periodically.
- Pet hair on hard floors: the brush design is attractive for minimizing wrap, but the available independent result does not establish a universal score for every coat, amount of shedding or home.
- Embedded pet hair in carpet: this is the notable weakness. Expect less reliable extraction than the anti-tangle headline might suggest; multiple passes may be needed.
Vacuum performance depends on the floor
Hard floors
In RTINGS’ testing, the Saros 10R picked up fine, medium and large debris on hard flooring, including along edges and in corners. That supports it for everyday dust, crumbs, rice, cereal and litter on hard surfaces under the review’s test conditions; it is not a guarantee for every debris load or layout. Roborock lists dirt detection and automatic suction adjustment among the product features. If pickup declines, a full dustbin or restricted filter can be part of the problem, so check both rather than assuming the floor sensor will compensate.
Carpet and rugs
RTINGS characterized carpet cleaning as adequate overall, while finding more difficulty with fine debris on low- and high-pile carpet, weaker edge and corner performance, and poor embedded pet-hair pickup. The 10R is therefore easier to recommend for homes dominated by hard floors than for homes dominated by carpet and heavy shedding. Its mop system can detach pads, but that does not resolve the separate question of vacuum pickup on carpet. Where carpet pet hair is the priority and mopping is not, RTINGS identifies the Roborock Q5 Max+ as an alternative to consider.

Roborock’s product information describes carpet recognition and mop handling, but owners should confirm the carpet map and selected behavior rather than assume every transition will be perfect. Side-brush contact can also move loose debris on some carpets; observe the robot on your own rugs and adjust settings or exclusions if needed. The supplied independent results do not establish a universal advantage from repeated passes or higher suction, so treat those as settings to try, not a guaranteed fix.
Mopping and carpet protection
The Saros 10R has dual rotating mop pads that can detach automatically when configured for vacuum-only cleaning or when carpets are encountered, according to Roborock. Automatic detachment is useful in mixed-floor homes because it reduces the chance of dragging wet pads over rugs. AdaptiLift can raise the chassis and mop assembly; Roborock’s launch material states a mop lift of up to 2.2 cm. The company also lists hot-water mopping up to 70°C in support documentation and dock mop washing up to 80°C. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent evidence of stain removal or sanitation. Feature details are available in Roborock’s Saros 10R feature guide, U.S. product page and launch announcement.
Hot-water washing is not sterilization, and automated mopping does not eliminate manual cleaning. Dirty water must be emptied, clean water refilled, and mop pads and dock parts maintained. Dried-on spills may still need hand scrubbing. Check the map, carpet recognition, mop-detachment preference and cleaning mode before relying on the robot around rugs. Do not add household disinfectant or other unsuitable fluid: the manual warns against disinfectants and directs users to Roborock-recommended cleaning solution.
The dock automates chores, but adds upkeep
The Multifunctional Dock 4.0 is designed to empty the robot’s dustbin, refill its water, wash mop pads with hot water, dry or manage the pads, and remove mop cloth mounts when configured. Roborock also describes high-frequency dust collection in specified cleaning modes. The 10R is specified for use with docking station model EWFD28LRR.

The trade-off is a large dock with water tanks, trays and other parts that need room and periodic attention. Dust bags, filters and mop cloths are consumables; neglected dirty-water tanks or mop components can develop odors. Leave enough unobstructed space for the dock and robot to approach it, following the manual’s placement instructions. The manual also says to use the correct dock and avoid unsuitable cleaning fluids. Automation reduces repetitive work; it does not remove dock maintenance.
Setup checklist for a reliable first run
- Choose the dock position: place the EWFD28LRR on a hard, flat floor and follow the manual’s clearance guidance. Avoid a spot where the robot’s approach is blocked.
- Prepare the dock: install the required dust bag and components, and fill the clean-water tank as directed.
- Connect the robot: use the Roborock app and a supported 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network. The U.S. product page specifies 2.4 GHz only, not 5 GHz.
- Clear hazards: remove cords, loose clothing, fragile items, unstable objects and anything dangerous from the floor.
- Run an initial mapping cycle: inspect the map and correct room boundaries or areas that were missed.
- Configure rooms and exclusions: label rooms and establish no-go or no-mop areas where appropriate.
- Set carpet behavior: verify carpet recognition, mop detachment and the cleaning mode you want before mixed-floor runs.
- Test docking: supervise an early run and confirm that the robot can return to the dock reliably before scheduling unattended cleaning.
App labels can change with regional software and firmware versions, so these are setup tasks rather than guaranteed current menu names. The launch material mentioned “Hello, Rocky!” voice control, Alexa, Siri Shortcuts and Google Home compatibility, and said Matter support would be enabled through OTA updates. Availability can depend on region, app, firmware and configuration; verify current compatibility rather than assuming it is active on every unit. The U.S. page specifies 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi only.

The manual gives baseline intervals; use can vary with dust, pets and cleaning frequency. Its instructions also make clear that anti-tangle does not mean maintenance-free. See the Saros 10R user manual.
| Part | Manual baseline |
|---|---|
| Main brushes | Clean every two weeks; replace every 6–12 months. |
| Side brush | Clean monthly; replace every 3–6 months. |
| Washable filter | Clean every two weeks; replace every 6–12 months. |
| Mop cloths | Clean as required; replace every 1–3 months. |
| Omnidirectional wheel and main wheels | Clean as required. |
Remove hair and dirt from brush ends and bearings, and inspect wheels and the side-brush mechanism. Pet-heavy homes and dusty environments may need more frequent cleaning or replacements than the baseline. Keep the dock’s water system and mop components clean to limit odors.

If the robot cannot locate the dock, the manual says it returns to its starting position; a malfunctioning robot can be placed manually on the dock. If it stops responding, the manual describes removing the magnetic top cover and pressing the Reset button. Factory reset uses a separate button sequence and restores settings including scheduled cleaning and Wi-Fi. Use the manual’s exact reset procedure, since a factory reset clears configuration rather than merely restarting a run.
How it compares with alternatives
| Model | Consider it when… | Key distinction from the Saros 10R |
|---|---|---|
| Roborock Saros 10 | You are choosing between Roborock’s two closely related low-profile flagships. | Uses retractable LDS and VibraRise rather than the 10R’s solid-state 3D ToF and dual rotating mop module. Roborock lists shared 6,400-mAh battery, DuoDivide main brush, FlexiArm side brush, AdaptiLift, hot-water mopping and automatic mop detachment. See the Roborock comparison page. |
| Roborock Saros 20 | You want a newer-generation option and carpet or pet-hair pickup is a higher priority. | RTINGS reported better carpet and pet-hair pickup than the 10R, but weaker obstacle avoidance and pet-accident handling in its testing. Verify the current model’s features and price separately. |
| Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra | Carpet pet-hair pickup matters more than the 10R’s low-clearance access. | RTINGS describes it as stronger for pet hair; the 10R has advantages in low-clearance access, obstacle avoidance, mopping and threshold handling. |
| Roborock Q5 Max+ | You mainly want vacuuming and pet-hair pickup, without requiring premium automated mopping. | RTINGS identifies it as an alternative when pet-hair pickup matters and mopping is not required; it does not substitute for the 10R’s hot-water mop washing or automatic mop removal. |
| Dreame X50 Ultra | You are comparing premium docks, mopping and threshold approaches across brands. | Compare current sale pricing, local warranty and support, carpet testing, app experience and dock reliability. The facts here do not establish a current price or a universal winner. |
For the Saros 20, S8 MaxV Ultra and Q5 Max+ independent-performance distinctions, see RTINGS’ Saros 10R review and comparisons. Do not treat the alternatives as interchangeable: the best fit depends on floor mix, hair, clearance and whether automated mopping is essential.
Price, warranty and buying checks
The observed U.S. store listing on August 18, 2026 showed $899.99, reduced from a listed $1,599.99; another indexed version showed $1,099.99. Verify the live price and terms on the official U.S. product page before ordering. That page displayed free delivery, 30-day returns and a one-year limited warranty when retrieved; confirm the current policy and exclusions at purchase. It also specified 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi support only, which is a deal-breaker for a home network that offers only 5-GHz access.
Roborock states threshold crossing up to 4 cm. Treat that as a manufacturer maximum, not a guarantee for every transition: width, angle, surface, approach direction and floor texture matter. Measure the actual threshold and the lowest furniture clearance before buying. Likewise, the 20,000-Pa suction and hair test figures are specifications or stated test results, not replacements for evidence about your own carpet and debris.

- Mostly hard floors: a strong match if you value pickup, mopping automation, low clearance and reduced brush wrapping.
- Mixed floors: attractive when mop detachment and mapping are configured carefully; verify carpet behavior during early runs.
- Carpet-heavy rooms or heavy-shedding pets: be cautious. Independent testing found weaker extraction of embedded pet hair, so a carpet-oriented vacuum may suit better.
- Low sofas, beds or cabinets: one of the 10R’s clearest advantages, provided the measured gap exceeds its body height with room to navigate.
- Buyers near the observed $899.99 sale price: the value case is materially stronger than at the $1,599.99 launch MSRP, but price and listings can change.
- Buyers who want a simple, low-upkeep vacuum: the large water-and-mop dock may be more complexity than you want.
The Saros 10R’s defining strengths are genuinely useful for the right home: it can get under low furniture, performed strongly on hard floors in independent testing, and resists brush tangles. Its defining limitation is just as important: excellent hair resistance does not make it a top carpet pet-hair extractor. Buy it for the balance of low-profile navigation and automated hard-floor care, not for an unconditional promise of zero tangles or universal carpet performance.
