Roborock is no longer focused only on indoor floors. The company announced its RockMow and RockNeo robotic lawn-mower families in September 2025, followed by a U.S. market launch centered on the RockMow X1 and X1 LiDAR at CES 2026. This is a genuine expansion into outdoor robotics—not simply a robot vacuum fitted with a blade.
The qualification is availability and maturity. Roborock has a dedicated U.S. lawn-care portfolio, but model-specific shipping, pricing, regional support, and the availability of promised software features must be confirmed before purchase.

The flagship: RockMow X1 LiDAR
Roborock’s X1 LiDAR is designed as an outdoor machine from the ground up. According to the manufacturer’s product material, its headline specifications include:
- Sentisphere LiDAR with 360-degree 3D environmental perception
- All-wheel drive
- Patented active steering
- Dynamic suspension
- A six-blade cutting system
- Custom mowing patterns
- An advertised maximum slope of 80%, or 38.7 degrees
- An advertised obstacle-handling height of up to 3.1 inches
- Adjustable cutting height from 1.6 to 3.5 inches
- Advertised edge precision of 1.2 inches
- Anti-theft alarm and preset-fence behavior
- Automatic lawn mapping without perimeter wires, according to the product page
These are Roborock’s specifications and claims, not independent test results. The 1.2-inch edge figure is described as a structural hardware distance; the actual cut depends on the shape and condition of the lawn edge and on software control. Roborock also sells the PreciEdge cutting module separately, so buyers should check what is included with the exact model.

Why this is a logical expansion—but not a simple technology transfer
Roborock already builds autonomous home robots that map rooms, plan routes, avoid objects, return to charging docks, follow schedules, and communicate with a phone app. Those capabilities are relevant to a lawn mower.
Outdoor operation, however, is considerably more demanding. A mower must deal with:
- Rain, mud, wet grass, and saturated soil
- Uneven ground, ruts, roots, loose soil, and changing traction
- Slopes and side-hill travel
- Grass that grows between mowing sessions
- Fences, retaining walls, ponds, flower beds, paths, gates, and drop-offs
- Children, pets, toys, hoses, tools, branches, rocks, and other unpredictable objects
- Theft risk and outdoor weather exposure
Roborock is therefore reusing its experience with robotics, navigation, mapping, and software—not directly transferring a vacuum’s cleaning system to a different environment. The mechanical platform, cutting system, safety design, traction, weather protection, and boundary management are all different engineering problems.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →What “wire-free” really means
Wire-free operation removes the need to bury a traditional perimeter cable, but it does not mean there is no setup. The mower still needs a reliable understanding of where it may and may not travel.
Before buying, confirm how the exact model:
- Creates and edits lawn boundaries
- Handles separate zones and disconnected areas
- Crosses narrow passages or gates
- Recognizes ponds, pools, retaining walls, steps, and drops
- Maintains positioning when satellite, network, or sensor coverage changes
- Responds when an obstacle or landscaping change invalidates part of the map
The X1 LiDAR product page identifies some mapping, obstacle, and mowing-pattern functions as forthcoming over-the-air updates. A feature can therefore be physically supported by the hardware without being enabled on the day a mower is delivered. Distinguish between a feature that is present, one enabled at launch, and one promised for later firmware.
Can it handle a steep lawn?
Roborock advertises up to 80% slope capability—approximately 38.7 degrees—for the X1 and X1 LiDAR. That is an impressive specification, but it is not a guarantee that every lawn at that angle will be equally safe or easy to mow.
An 80% grade is not the same as an 80-degree slope. Grade is calculated as vertical rise divided by horizontal run. An 80% grade corresponds to an angle of approximately 38.7 degrees.

This ensures more stable positioning, better boundary accuracy, and reliable performance, even in complex yard environments with trees or obstacles.
- Smart Auto Mapping & Multi-Zone Lawn Management. Automatically scans and maps your yard, enabling precise multi-zone management through the app. Customize mowing schedules, define different cutting areas, and optimize efficiency for front yard, backyard, and side zones with ease.
- Fully Automated Lawn Care – Set It and Forget It. From intelligent path planning to automatic recharging, the mower handles everything on its own. Enjoy a hands-free lawn care experience, saving time and effort while maintaining a perfectly trimmed lawn every day.
Real performance can vary with wet grass, loose soil, tire grip, drainage, ruts, the direction of travel, and whether the machine must stop or turn on the slope. A mower may climb a section yet still struggle to cut consistently or return safely to its dock. Measure the steepest part of the property—not merely the average slope—and compare it with the exact model’s instructions.
It is a maintenance mower, not a complete replacement for lawn equipment
Robotic mowers typically maintain grass through frequent, relatively small cuts. They are not intended to replace every conventional mowing task.
You may still need a conventional mower or trimmer for:
- Overgrown grass before the robot’s first scheduled cycle
- Edges beside raised borders, walls, gravel, or irregular flower beds
- Areas outside the mapped lawn
- Steep drop-offs or inaccessible strips
- Grass that the mower cannot safely reach
Roborock advertises adjustable cutting heights, a six-blade system, and anti-clog features. Those specifications do not prove that the mower can safely process any height of grass in any weather. The defensible expectation is reduced routine mowing labor on a suitable, prepared property—not the elimination of all lawn work.

Prepare the property first
- Remove toys, hoses, branches, loose stones, and gardening tools.
- Identify ponds, pools, drops, retaining walls, steps, and soft or eroded edges.
- Make sure every route between lawn zones is wide and accessible enough for the exact mower.
- Choose a charging location that is accessible, stable, clear, and well drained.
- Cut neglected or unusually tall grass conventionally before the first autonomous run.
- Map the lawn, then inspect the virtual boundary rather than assuming the robot has interpreted every edge correctly.
Expect regular maintenance
Autonomy does not remove maintenance. Owners should clean grass and mud from the chassis and cutting deck, inspect and replace blades, check the wheels and steering, keep sensors clear, and inspect the suspension. The dock and charging area also need to remain clear and protected from avoidable standing water.
Firmware and app updates may affect mapping and navigation. After landscaping changes, recheck the map and boundaries. Before seasonal storage, follow the exact model’s battery, cleaning, weather, and winter-storage instructions. Weather-protection equipment is available from Roborock, but accessory compatibility must be checked by model.

Safety matters more outdoors
Obstacle detection can reduce risk, but it is not a guarantee that every object will be identified or avoided. Low, narrow, dark, transparent, or partly hidden objects may be difficult for any perception system.
Keep children and pets away from the mowing area during operation, and follow the current model manual for unattended use, weather limits, and emergency procedures. Never lift, clean, or service the mower while the blades could move. Remove objects from the lawn before scheduled mowing and stop the machine before investigating a fault.
Recommended Free Tools
Roborock advertises a high-decibel anti-theft alarm and preset-fence behavior. Those features may deter theft, but they do not guarantee recovery or prevent a determined thief from taking the machine.
Is the Roborock app an advantage?
App-based scheduling, mapping, notifications, and remote control are potentially important advantages for existing Roborock owners. But buyers should not assume the lawn mower uses exactly the same app, account structure, integrations, or recovery workflow as a Roborock vacuum.
Confirm whether the exact mower requires a separate garden app, particular network coverage, a positioning service, or a subscription. Also check what happens when the mower is offline, loses its position, becomes stuck, or reaches a boundary it cannot interpret. A genuinely autonomous system should reduce routine intervention, but outdoor navigation failures can still require someone to move the mower, clear an obstruction, repair the map, restart the job, or remap an area.

When to consider Roborock—and when to wait
Roborock is worth considering if the exact model is orderable in your region, your lawn falls within its rated area and slope limits, the dock has a suitable location, and you value wire-free mapping, app control, AWD, or LiDAR. Confirm replacement blades, warranty coverage, repair arrangements, and support before paying.
Waiting is sensible if the U.S. price or shipping status is unclear, an important feature is marked as a future OTA update, your yard includes complicated gates or disconnected zones, or you require a long-established dealer network. Do not buy solely because you already own a Roborock vacuum. Vacuum reputation establishes consumer interest, not long-term mower reliability.
The total cost also includes the dock, optional weather protection, edge-cutting accessories, replacement blades, setup materials, possible connectivity costs, repairs, seasonal storage, and continued trimming. Compare that with local lawn-service costs over several mowing seasons—not just with the sticker price of a conventional mower.
Availability in the United States
Roborock’s U.S. website confirms a dedicated lawn-mower portfolio and lists support, accessories, and warranty information. However, a product announcement or regional product page does not automatically prove that every advertised model is broadly stocked, shipping nationwide, or fully featured.
Check the live product page and checkout for the exact model, then verify:
- U.S. shipping and delivery status
- Current price and included hardware
- Warranty terms and eligible model number
- Replacement-blade and accessory availability
- Whether mapping, obstacle, or pattern features are live or future OTA functions
- How repairs and battery service are handled in your area
Roborock’s U.S. warranty page lists RockNeo Q110H, RockMow X115H/X130H, and RockMow X120H LiDAR among covered mower models. Coverage terms can change, so consult the current policy before purchase.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe verdict
Roborock has genuinely graduated from indoor cleaning to outdoor autonomy. RockMow and RockNeo represent a real lawn-care business, and the RockMow X1 LiDAR is built around outdoor requirements such as traction, suspension, LiDAR perception, boundary mapping, and cutting.
For technically minded homeowners with a suitable, sloped, or obstacle-heavy lawn, the proposition is compelling. But “graduates” describes a strategic expansion—not proof that every mower is already mature, widely available, or maintenance-free in every market. Buyers who prioritize proven mower support, clear pricing, and long-term reliability may prefer Segway or Husqvarna, or wait for more ownership history. Either way, judge the mower by the exact property, model, support arrangement, and total cost—not by Roborock’s vacuum reputation alone.
