The company announced the move at CES on January 6, 2026, naming the RockMow X1 LiDAR. Its current US garden site lists three models or configurations: RockMow X1 LiDAR, RockMow X1, and RockNeo Q1. The Q1 is listed from $1,299, while US pricing and confirmed retail availability for the two X1 models should be checked on the live purchase pages.
What Roborock announced
Roborock announced its US lawn-care entry at CES 2026 on January 6. The original announcement identified the RockMow X1 LiDAR as part of that market entry. It did not establish that one mower was already widely available at retail, or that the X1 LiDAR was the only first US model.

Roborock’s current US garden product site presents a broader lineup. That distinction matters: a product announcement, a US-facing product page, and confirmed nationwide shipping are not necessarily the same thing.

RockMow X1 LiDAR: the premium model
Roborock positions the X1 LiDAR for larger or more complicated lawns. Its product page claims 360-degree 3D LiDAR, VSLAM, centimeter-level positioning, a 230-foot detection range, and scanning of up to 200,000 points per second. It also lists all-wheel drive, active steering, dynamic suspension, IPX6 water resistance, 4G tracking, an alarm, PIN lockout, and compatibility with a third-party tracker.
The claimed cutting-height range is 1.6 to 3.5 inches. Roborock also claims operation on slopes up to 80 percent, or 38.7 degrees, and clearance of obstacles up to 3.1 inches. Those limits depend on terrain geometry, traction, grass conditions, boundary safety, and other environmental factors. They should not be read as a guarantee that the mower can safely handle every steep or uneven lawn.
RockMow X1 versus X1 LiDAR
The most important difference is environmental perception. The X1 LiDAR uses 360-degree 3D LiDAR with VSLAM, while the standard X1 page describes full-band RTK with VSLAM and quad-vision obstacle avoidance.
Recommended Free Tools
Both models retain the terrain-oriented platform features: four-wheel drive, active steering, dynamic suspension, a six-blade cutting system, a 1.6-to-3.5-inch cutting range, 4G tracking, and anti-theft controls. Roborock also claims up to 80-percent slopes and obstacles up to 3.1 inches for the X1 family. The practical advantage of LiDAR in a particular yard will depend on trees, buildings, shade, narrow passages, and map quality; there is not yet enough evidence here to declare one configuration universally better.

RockNeo Q1: the lower-entry option
The RockNeo Q1 is listed from $1,299 on Roborock’s US page. It uses full-band RTK and VSLAM, with stereo-vision obstacle avoidance and AI-powered mapping. Roborock claims coverage of up to 0.25 acre per day and advertises automated multi-zone management, a real-time mowing dashboard, wildlife-friendly scheduling, rain sensing, IPX6 protection, 4G tracking, an anti-theft alarm, PIN lockout, and third-party tracker compatibility.
The Q1 is therefore the more plausible starting point for a smaller, relatively manageable lawn. Its “from” price is not necessarily the all-in ownership cost, and the company’s page lists an RTK reference station among the box contents. Confirm the live bundle before ordering.
Pricing, accessories, and the real setup cost
Only the Q1 has a clear current US price signal in the reviewed official sources: from $1,299. Roborock’s US pages did not clearly expose current pricing for the RockMow X1 or X1 LiDAR. European or other regional prices should not be converted into US MSRP.

Roborock advertises 1.2-inch edge precision with the optional PreciEdge module. That is a hardware-distance claim, not a promise that every lawn edge will be cut exactly 1.2 inches from the boundary. Roborock’s accessory information also states that obstacle clearance is limited to 2.4 inches with the module installed, creating a trade-off between closer edge work and clearance.
“Wire-free” does not mean setup-free
The models use combinations of RTK, VSLAM, LiDAR, cameras, and AI mapping to reduce dependence on traditional perimeter wire. Homeowners still need to plan the charging or reference-station location, create and verify the lawn map, and account for positioning conditions.
Trees, buildings, fences, dense shade, disconnected lawn areas, narrow gates, retaining walls, drainage channels, and abrupt drops can all affect navigation. Roborock’s X1 page claims passage through spaces as narrow as 2.6 feet, but that is a manufacturer specification rather than a universal guarantee. A complex property may require manual transport routes or map corrections, and the official pages do not by themselves provide a complete, independently verified installation procedure.
Safety, weather, and maintenance
Obstacle detection is not the same as guaranteed safety. Remove toys, hoses, tools, branches, and pet waste before mowing, and keep children and pets away from operating blades. Wildlife-friendly scheduling can pause mowing during preset hours, but it does not prove that daytime operation cannot harm wildlife.

- Centimeter-Level RTK Cloud Accuracy: Commercial-grade RTK Cloud technology delivers centimeter-level positioning for this robotic lawn mower with no local antenna installation and no additional cloud costs.
- Auto Mapping for More Complete Coverage: Vision AI helps the robot lawn mower understand lawn shapes and boundary types, then automatically maps your yard for smooth paths, closer edge-following, and fuller coverage from day one.
- AI Obstacle Avoidance with Neural Processing: Vision AI recognizes and understands common yard objects, using a trained neural network and up to 10 trillion operations per second to help mowing stay smooth, safe, and uninterrupted.
- Infinite Zone Mowing & App Remote Control: Create unlimited mowing zones, set custom paths, define no-go areas, edit your map, and monitor your remote control lawn mower from the app anytime.
- Reliable Navigation Even in Shade: RTK Cloud provides centimeter-level accuracy in open areas, while V-SLAM sensor fusion with Vision AI helps maintain precise navigation in shaded or partially covered lawn spaces.
Rain sensing and IPX6 protection do not establish how well the mower cuts wet or waterlogged grass. Robotic mowers generally work best when they cut frequently and incrementally; they should not automatically be treated as substitutes for a heavy first cut through tall, overgrown grass.
Owners should also confirm replacement-blade availability, safe blade-changing instructions, cellular coverage and any 4G subscription terms, battery-storage guidance for winter, and the status of promised software features. Roborock’s pages identify some mapping, obstacle-handling, and custom-pattern functions as future OTA features. A feature marked for a later update should not be treated as available at launch.
Warranty and support
Roborock has published a US limited-warranty policy covering the listed mower models, including the RockNeo Q1 and RockMow X1 variants. Read the policy for component coverage, battery treatment, blade exclusions, shipping responsibilities, geographic limitations, and the repair or replacement process. Roborock’s established vacuum business does not automatically prove that lawn-mower service coverage, parts availability, or local service capacity will be equally mature.
Should you buy now?
- Consider buying now if the official checkout is open for your location, your lawn fits the selected model, and you accept first-generation uncertainty around real-world performance and support.
- Consider waiting if you need confirmed X1 pricing, independent testing, mature service information, or software features currently marked for future updates.
- Consider another approach if your yard has poor positioning conditions, complicated disconnected zones, difficult edges, or if you prefer a longer ownership history. Traditional boundary-wire mowers, other RTK or vision-based systems, lawn-service subscriptions, and conventional electric mowers each trade setup effort, cost, and maintenance differently.
Bottom line
Roborock has clearly entered the US robotic-lawn-mower category, led by the RockMow X1 LiDAR and supported by the RockMow X1 and RockNeo Q1. But “Roborock launches its first robot lawn mower” oversimplifies the story. The CES announcement was a market-entry announcement, the US lineup now includes multiple models, and only the Q1 had a clearly stated official US starting price in the reviewed material. Verify live stock, total configuration cost, connectivity terms, warranty details, and installation requirements before treating any model as a ready-made replacement for a conventional mower.
