Camino says Cuprum Resources Chile SpA has also posted a refundable USD 1.7 million guarantee bond for the work. The authorization is a construction milestone—not confirmation that the infrastructure is complete or that Puquios’ proposed Japanese debt financing has closed.
What the $1.7 million bond means
Camino announced on October 5, 2026, that Cuprum, its 50/50 joint venture with Nittetsu Mining Co., Ltd., had put a USD 1.7 million financial-guarantee bond in place. Camino says the bond satisfies applicable Chilean Water Code requirements and that Chile’s Dirección General de Aguas (DGA) confirmed construction may commence on the named works. The announcement describes the regulatory confirmation and compliance as reported by Camino; it does not provide the DGA’s underlying authorization or technical record for independent review. The bond is a guarantee, not a project loan or a construction budget. Camino says it will be returned in full after Cuprum completes the water infrastructure and the DGA inspects and certifies it. The company has not said that those steps are complete or that the bond has been returned.
What the water-control works are intended to do
The diversion and channelization infrastructure is intended to manage surface water around the mine and the planned heap-leach and process plant facilities. Cuprum CEO Marcelo Bruna said the design is intended to support continuous mine and plant operations and limit environmental disturbance or production impacts during heavy rainfall. Does this mean Puquios financing is finalized?
No. Camino said administrative and commercial arrangements for a proposed debt facility with a major Japanese financial institution were still being advanced. The facility remained subject to definitive agreements, lender approvals, applicable conditions and customary matters. Posting the bond and receiving confirmation to start the water-control works are separate from closing that proposed financing; the bond itself is not described as security for the loan. Camino CEO Jay Chmelauskas linked the construction authorization to the financing effort, saying: “Satisfying the USD$1.7M guarantee bond, authorizes the construction of surface water infrastructure around the Puquios mine, in preparation of completing a potential Japanese sourced debt facility for the project.” Camino Minerals announcement

What Camino reported about rain and access roads
In the October 5 announcement, Camino said recent heavy rainfall had caused localized washouts on roads at the Puquios site. The company reported that main site infrastructure, including earthworks for the planned plant site, was not damaged and that Cuprum was repairing site roads. It also said Barrick Gold was repairing washed-out sections of the unsealed access highway from Punta Colorada so heavy-equipment traffic could resume, while engineering and administrative preparation continued. Camino describes Puquios as construction-ready and says the joint venture is working to advance it toward mine development. The water-work authorization and guarantee are one step in that process. Construction, DGA inspection and certification, return of the bond, and final approval of the proposed debt facility remain distinct stages; the announcement does not provide a construction schedule, detailed design specifications, finalized loan terms or performance data.
