Building Design + Construction described it in 2016 as lightweight, rust-proof, dust-proof, water-resistant and durable, with an 84.5-ounce reservoir, single-cup brewing and a separate hot-water outlet. 84.5 ounces in the reservoir
Building Design + Construction reports an 84.5-ounce tank and says it can produce up to 10 cups. The OXX manual gives the same volume as 2.5 liters (84.5 ounces). “Up to 10 cups” is a product statement, not a promise that ten large travel mugs can be filled: the article does not define the cup size used for that count. If the crew uses larger mugs, the practical number of servings will be lower.
For a site manager, reservoir size affects refill frequency. A full tank can support multiple individual servings before someone has to fetch more water, but the exact number depends on the programmed brew volume and the size of each cup. Keep potable water available and follow the machine’s own fill instructions rather than assuming the tank can be filled beyond its marked limit.
Two different published cycle times
The feature article says each cup takes 75 seconds. Lowe’s product listing gives 70 seconds for an 8-ounce cup. These measurements are not directly interchangeable: one is an article-reported general cycle time, while the other is tied to an 8-ounce serving in a retailer listing. Neither source describes warm-up conditions, ambient temperature or whether the timing includes dispensing the final drops. Use the figures as approximate published expectations, not as a guaranteed queue-time calculation.
Even at roughly a minute per serving, a single-serve machine is best suited to staggered breaks rather than a large rush of workers all arriving at once. The separate hot-water line can let someone prepare tea or oatmeal while another person uses a coffee pod, although the sources do not document whether both outlets can operate simultaneously or how much the machine’s electrical load changes during that use.

Pod compatibility: does it work with K-Cup pods?
Yes, the OXX manual specifically lists compatibility with K-Cup pods. Building Design + Construction also says the machine works with all single-serve coffee pods. The manual is the narrower, more actionable source for a buyer choosing pods: standard K-Cup-compatible products are the documented fit.
“All single-serve coffee pods” should not be interpreted as a guarantee for every proprietary capsule shape sold worldwide. Capsule systems differ in diameter, lid design and piercing requirements. Simple individual servings
Single-serve brewing avoids a shared pot that may sit on a burner or warming plate for hours. Each worker can choose a pod and make a fresh cup. The trade-off is throughput: every serving requires its own cycle, and the reservoir still needs water. The product is therefore most naturally matched to small or rotating crews, remote work areas and temporary facilities where a full kitchen setup is impractical.
Current availability and the CBK250B model
Lowe’s identifies the black CoffeeBoxx as model CBK250B and marks the product “no longer sold on Lowes.com.” That statement establishes that the retailer no longer sells it through that listing; it does not prove that every seller has exhausted inventory or that no used units exist.

The available article and documents do not establish a standardized impact rating, an ingress-protection code, independent dust or water testing, long-term reliability, brew-temperature consistency, noise level, cleaning interval, warranty term or replacement-parts availability.
Those omissions matter more on a construction site than they would in a home kitchen. If the machine is expected to survive open-air exposure, frequent vehicle movement or heavy daily use, make those requirements part of the purchasing decision and obtain written confirmation from the seller or manufacturer. Do not convert “durable” into a quantified service life.
