A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Start by identifying your B-hyve model before resetting it. Underground 24-VAC controllers, indoor timers, hose-faucet timers, hubs, and XD, XR, Gen 1, and Gen 2 devices use different controls and reset procedures. Find the model number on the timer or its label, then check Orbit’s manual and start-guide directory.
Most B-hyve problems come from power, connectivity, programming, water supply, valve or wiring faults, or failed hardware. The fastest diagnostic clue is whether local manual watering works.

Identify the problem before changing settings
Manual watering works but scheduled watering does not: check Auto mode, Rain Delay, the rain-sensor input, schedule settings, and the controller clock.
The timer has power but the app says offline: reboot the device, check Wi-Fi and Internet access, then reconnect through Bluetooth.
#1 Best Overall
- Whole-Home Remote Control Irrigation Network: GoveeLife automatic watering system has a rock‑solid connection up to 1640 ft from the gateway – no dropouts. Connects up to 64 devices via one gateway, unifying front, back, and side yards.
- Smart Weather Adaptive Watering: This hose timer auto-adjusts watering based on real-time rain, light, temp and humidity via internet data. Skips rainy days, increases watering in dry, hot weather—turning fixed schedules into dynamic management. Prevents over/under watering, saves bills.
- High Quality Materials - No Leaks, No Cracks: Say goodbye to leaky plastic timers that crack under the sun or pressure. We built this hose timer with dual brass inlets and upgraded IP67 waterproof, which means it is rust and crush-proof and survives rainstorms and sprinkler splashes. And thanks to the UV-stabilized shell, it won't turn brittle after years under the sun. It's ready for the roughest outdoor life.
- 3 Watering Modes & 10 Schedules: Choose from continuous, intermittent, or custom to suit lawns, flower beds, veggies, or pots.Intermittent mode is ideal for new seeds or compacted soil to avoid runoff, while custom mode fits flower beds. Set up to 10 schedules – different watering tasks for different days or times of day. One timer handles your whole garden's diverse needs.
- Rich intelligent functions: Curious how much water your garden drank last week? The app shows you clear charts of watering time and volume. This sprinkler timer supports Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. Ask Alexa to start a 10‑minute soak, or create a routine that waters your lawn at sunset.
Nothing works, including the display or manual operation: investigate power, batteries, transformer, wiring, or hardware.
Water will not stop: shut off the faucet or irrigation supply immediately before troubleshooting.
Which B-hyve device do you have?
- Underground indoor/outdoor controller: wall-mounted controller connected to wired sprinkler zones and usually 24-VAC valves.

60-second checks
- Confirm the timer has power or fresh batteries.
- Confirm the faucet or main irrigation supply is open.
- For an underground controller, verify it is in Auto, not Off.
- Check for Rain Delay, freeze protection, or an active rain-sensor input.
- Run one short manual cycle.
- Test local buttons, nearby Bluetooth control, Wi-Fi control, and automatic scheduling separately.
This four-part test identifies the failing layer: the device, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi/cloud access, or the irrigation system itself.
B-hyve is offline or will not connect
First distinguish the connections
With hose timers and hubs, several links can fail independently: your phone may connect to the timer over Bluetooth; the timer may fail to reach the hub; the hub may fail to reach home Wi-Fi; the router may have no Internet; or the app may be unable to reach Orbit’s cloud service. “The app cannot connect” does not identify which link is broken.
Reboot without erasing your programming
For an underground controller, disconnect power for 30 seconds, then reconnect it. Check the outlet, GFCI, breaker, transformer, and power connection first.

For a hose timer, turn off the faucet or remove the timer from the faucet. Remove the battery tray for 15–20 seconds, then reinstall it completely. Replace batteries that are old, corroded, wet, or producing low-battery behavior. A tray that is not fully seated can allow moisture into the housing. See Orbit’s underground-controller connectivity guidance and hose-timer guidance.
Interpret the underground-controller Wi-Fi symbol
- Solid Wi-Fi symbol with signal bars: connected.
- Flashing Wi-Fi symbol: not connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Flashing Wi-Fi symbol with an exclamation point: connected to Wi-Fi but unable to transmit data properly, often because the local network has no Internet access.
Orbit’s referenced onboarding guidance recommends at least three signal bars for the underground controller. The controller may retry the connection approximately every 30 seconds after an interruption.
Reconnect through Bluetooth
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone and move close to the timer or hub.
- Reboot the B-hyve device and hub, if present.
- Confirm the home Wi-Fi network works on another device and has Internet access.
- In the B-hyve app, use Update Wi-Fi Settings or the equivalent control.
- Refresh the network list if your network is missing.
- Use the app’s Advanced option to enter the network name and password manually if necessary.
- Check the password carefully and improve signal strength before repeatedly resetting the timer.
For older B-hyve equipment, the relevant manual specifies 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi and says 5-GHz networks are unsupported. This is model-specific, so check the manual for your device rather than assuming every current B-hyve product has identical networking support. If connectivity remains unresolved, Orbit directs users to OrbitAssist and its general troubleshooting resources.
B-hyve is not watering automatically
- Confirm the controller is in Auto, not Off.
- Confirm the hose timer has an enabled program.
- Check the correct days, start time, zone, and runtime.
- Check the controller’s date, time, location, and water budget.
- Look for Rain Delay, freeze protection, or an active rain sensor.
- Check the watering calendar to see whether Smart Watering has actually scheduled the zone.
- Verify that the revised program was saved to the timer.
Smart Watering can change watering in response to local weather. That can be useful, but it means the absence of a run is not automatically evidence of a failed controller. Inspect the home screen, weather settings, delay status, and calendar before resetting the device.
Manual watering works but programmed cycles do not
An active rain-sensor input is a leading possibility on applicable underground-controller models. Orbit’s documented procedure is:
- Put the timer in Auto.
- Hold the Rain Delay button for five seconds.
- Confirm the display shows SENS OFF.
- Test the programmed cycle again.
Use this only when appropriate for your installation. If a real rain sensor is connected and should control watering, disabling it removes that safety control. If no sensor is connected but the terminals are active, the input may block programmed cycles. See Orbit’s model-specific troubleshooting instructions.

Offline does not always mean no watering
Orbit says saved custom schedules may continue locally when Wi-Fi is lost. Remote app control, watering-history updates, and weather-based adjustments are limited while offline. Smart schedules may continue only for programs already saved on the timer, typically for a limited period described by Orbit as about two weeks. A power loss is different: a controller without power cannot water.
The timer runs for one second, then stops
On supported underground-controller models, an active rain-sensor input can allow manual operation while stopping custom and Smart programs. Check the sensor status and use the documented sensor procedure above.
If the sensor is not involved, investigate a short, low voltage, damaged valve wire, loose common connection, stuck solenoid, or controller fault. This symptom is not universal across all B-hyve models; consult the correct wiring diagram and manual before testing electrical components.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWater continues running
Shut off the faucet or irrigation supply first. Do not leave an uncontrolled hose timer or valve pressurized while troubleshooting.
- For a hose timer, remove and reinstall the battery tray after about 30 seconds.
- Replace the batteries; Orbit recommends replacing hose-timer batteries at least annually for this issue.
- If the valve remains open, reset the applicable hose timer. Orbit’s reset guidance uses five rapid presses of the B-hyve button for listed hose-timer models.
- Reconnect through Bluetooth and run a short test.
- For drip irrigation, temporarily remove an emitter to test for excessive back pressure.
- If the valve closes after pressure is relieved, the drip system may need more emitters or a different hydraulic arrangement.
- If it still will not close, pursue hardware service or warranty replacement.
See Orbit’s water-continues-to-flow procedure. A replacement timer will not fix a closed faucet, blocked filter, kinked hose, or unsuitable drip configuration.

- Loose or broken zone wire
- Loose or corroded common-wire connection
- Failed solenoid or damaged valve diaphragm
- Clogged valve or filter
- Broken sprinkler head or damaged pipe
- Blocked drip line or hose outlet
Compare the failed zone with a known-good zone. Check the valve box, wire connections, solenoid, filters, sprinkler hardware, and water flow. Follow the model manual for electrical tests; use a qualified irrigation technician if testing involves live or low-voltage wiring you are not equipped to diagnose.
All zones fail
Check the main water supply, irrigation shutoff, backflow preventer, master valve, common wire, transformer, fuse, and controller outputs. If the controller activates but no valve opens, the fault may be hydraulic or electrical downstream of the controller. A new controller will not repair a closed supply, failed solenoid, broken wire, clogged valve, or damaged pipe.
Factory reset instructions by model
Factory reset is a last resort. It can erase custom programming and require pairing again. Before resetting, record the model number, device name, Wi-Fi credentials, zone names, runtimes, start times, water budget, sensor settings, and screenshots of schedules.
| Device family | Orbit-listed reset action |
|---|---|
| Indoor/outdoor controller | Open the front door and swing panel; hold the internal reset button for 10–12 seconds. |
| Indoor timer | Press the middle B-hyve button five times rapidly. |
| XR | Press the middle B-hyve button five times rapidly. |
| XD, 2-station, and 4-station models | Turn the dial to Off, press and release the dial, then hold the dial inward for about 10 seconds. |
| Hose-faucet timer | Press the B-hyve button five times rapidly. |
| Hub or Gen 2 Hub | Press the B-hyve button five times rapidly. |
These actions come from Orbit’s device reset table. Model names and app labels can differ by generation, so verify the procedure against the exact manual.
When to stop troubleshooting
Contact Orbit support or a qualified irrigation professional when:
- The controller remains dead after verified power or battery checks.
- A hose valve will not close after fresh batteries, rebooting, and the model-specific reset.
- The transformer, wiring, solenoid, or valve requires electrical testing.
- The device repeatedly loses its configuration.
- Visible corrosion, water damage, or melted wiring is present.
- The controller may still be within its warranty period.
Use Orbit’s current support page for the latest contact and warranty information. OrbitAssist can help with connectivity, but it cannot repair physical irrigation hardware.
