The Newtral Freedom-X is a multi-position chair designed to shift between desk work, gaming, reclining and other seated activities. A December 2024 New Atlas report describes adjustments to its backrest, armrests and seat, plus a desk tray and laptop-stand extension. Those are product features and intended-use examples—not evidence of a particular ergonomic or health benefit.
How the Freedom-X is designed to change positions
Rather than treating the chair as a single fixed seat, the Newtral Freedom-X is presented as a setup that can be adjusted for different activities. New Atlas reported seven backrest-height positions and three recline settings, spanning 90 to 104 degrees. The article also described armrests with eight angle positions across a 120-degree range, and six stages of seat movement with up to 70 mm of forward travel. These are specifications reported in December 2024, not independently verified against current manufacturer documentation.
Work, gaming and reclining
The reported use cases include sitting at a standard desk, gaming and reclining. They illustrate the chair’s intended versatility; they do not establish that it improves posture, prevents discomfort or is suitable for every user or task.
Tray and laptop-stand extension
The chair was reported to include a desk tray with three angle settings. New Atlas also described an extension that can flip up to serve as a laptop stand, with swing-out cup holders. The report does not establish present-day accessory availability or compatibility with other setups.

Materials and reported capacity
New Atlas reported a maximum supported weight of 150 kg (about 330 lb). It described fabric upholstery in orange and cream, and faux leather in coffee brown and dark gray; the fabric was marketed as scratch-resistant for homes with pets. These details come from the December 2024 report and have not been checked against a current manufacturer specification sheet. Before relying on a load limit or choosing an upholstery, confirm the current specifications and care guidance with the seller.
What the campaign prices do—and do not—tell you
When New Atlas covered the Kickstarter campaign on December 23, 2024, it listed campaign prices of US$199 for the leather-look version and US$249 for fabric, against stated MSRPs of $359 and $389, respectively. Those are historical campaign figures, not current offers or a reliable guide to today’s price. The same report listed a larger folding laptop desk add-on at $59 and a wood-grain rolling side table/footrest at $55. Current availability, regional shipping, pricing and accessory compatibility are not established here.
