Its dual cameras and AI object-recognition system may spot and record where an object was seen while the robot cleans. But Narwal warns that rare or very small items may not be detected consistently, which makes an earring a particularly difficult test.
It may identify a useful area to search. It may also miss the earring, misidentify it, move it with a brush, or vacuum it into the dustbin. Do not buy a $1,000-plus robot vacuum solely for this feature.

What the Flow 2 is actually doing
The Flow 2 uses dual 1080p cameras, AI-powered obstacle avoidance and a vision-language-model-based recognition system. Narwal says the robot can recognize hundreds of common household objects and expand what it recognizes over time. The company markets this as “Unlimited Object Recognition.”
That phrase describes the intended breadth of the software, not unlimited accuracy. Narwal’s own product information cautions that recognition of rare or very small objects may vary. Narwal does not specifically promise reliable earring detection.

There are three separate capabilities here:
- Detection: the camera notices something on the floor.
- Logging: the app may record an object, image or approximate location, depending on the current firmware and app features.
- Recovery: you physically retrieve the earring.
The first two might help you with the third. They do not guarantee it.
Why earrings are hard for a robot to recognize
An earring is almost a worst-case object for camera-based recognition. A stud can lie flat and expose very little surface area. A shiny metal earring can produce glare rather than a clear shape. A hoop may look like wire or debris, while a dark earring on a dark floor may have almost no contrast.
Carpet fibers, bedding, clothing, furniture legs and clutter can hide the item completely. The robot may also be unable to reach the gap where the earring is located. Narwal lists the Flow 2 at approximately 95 mm, or 3.74 inches, high; that may fit under some furniture, but it does not mean the robot can reach every low-clearance space.
Even if a camera sees the earring, recognition is not guaranteed. The side brush or suction airflow could move it before the robot classifies it. A false positive is possible too: a piece of debris, cable, toy fragment or other jewelry could be reported as the missing item.

How to try the Flow 2 without making the search worse
Search manually first
- Stop walking through the area so the earring is not kicked farther away.
- Keep children and pets out of the room.
- Use bright light, preferably a flashlight held at a shallow angle across the floor. Reflections from metal are easier to see this way.
- Divide the room into small sections and search them in a grid.
- Check clothing, bedding, towels, shoes, bags, furniture gaps and nearby drains.
- Use the matching earring as a visual reference if you still have it.
If you use the robot
- Update the robot and dock firmware first. Narwal advises keeping firmware current for optimal operation and current AI features; the app and firmware may change over time.
- Remove loose cables, clothing, toys and other hazards from the search area.
- Use the Narwal app to restrict the robot to the likely room or a defined zone. The Flow 2 supports map creation and editing, although a room map is not the same as a precise object-location map. Narwal’s support material documents map editing.
- Choose vacuum-only mode if available rather than sending the robot through the area while mopping.
- Stay with the robot. Watch its live view or cleaning progress if the relevant feature is available on your current app version.
- Check for an object record, image, notification or location marker. Exact menu names and the precision of object locations are firmware-dependent and should not be assumed.
- Pause the robot immediately if it approaches a suspicious object.
- Inspect the floor and the robot before allowing it to dock or self-empty.
Avoid sending it under furniture where an earring could be pushed deeper. A supervised, limited run is much safer than leaving a powerful vacuum unattended around valuable jewelry.
What can happen to the earring?
The best outcome is that the robot avoids the object and records a useful approximate position. Other outcomes are less helpful:
- The camera sees the earring but does not classify it.
- The robot reports the wrong object.
- A side brush pushes the earring beneath furniture or against a baseboard.
- Suction pulls it into the roller, dustbin, filter or suction channel.
- The app identifies the room or route but gives no sufficiently precise location.
If you think the Flow 2 swallowed the earring, stop the cleaning cycle. Follow the manual’s shutdown instructions, then check the dustbin and filter, roller brush and suction inlet. Do not reach into moving parts while the robot is powered. For valuable or irreplaceable jewelry, photograph the robot and contact Narwal support before disassembling anything beyond the user-serviceable instructions.
What else the Flow 2 offers
The lost-object feature is part of a premium vacuum-and-mop robot rather than a dedicated jewelry-finding tool. Narwal advertises up to 31,000 Pa of suction, a FlowWash rolling-track mop with real-time self-cleaning, warm-water mop washing, 12 mm mop lifting and a DualFlow anti-tangle sweeping system.

- Self-Cleaning Mop with FlowWash — Always Cleans with Fresh Water. Tired of robot mops spreading dirty water? This robot vacuum and mop combo continuously washes its track mop in real time, so only clean water touches your floors. With up to 7x more contact area and 15x longer stain scrubbing, it cleans deeper with every pass. 212°F hot water loosens dirt, 12N pressure scrubs it away, while a scraper removes residue and dirty water is collected into a sealed tank.
- 31,000Pa Suction for Pet Hair + Dual Tangle-Free Brush System. This robot vacuum for pet hair delivers 31,000Pa suction power to lift dust, crumbs, debris, and pet hair from hard floors and carpets. Its Dual Zero-Tangle System combines dual short rollers with an upgraded long-bristle side brush to reduce hair wrap and support a 0% hair entanglement rate, certified by SGS, making it ideal for homes with pets or long hair.
- AI Object Recognition with Dual Cameras — Avoids Obstacles, Cleans Smarter. Powered by dual cameras and an advanced VLM AI brain, Flow 2 goes beyond basic obstacle avoidance. It recognizes common household objects like shoes, cables, and pet bowls in real time, then adjusts its path for smarter cleaning with fewer bumps and less getting stuck.
- Adapts to Pets, Kids, and Everyday Life. Flow 2 intelligently responds to your home environment. It can lower noise near a crib for quieter cleaning and supports interactive pet features through the app, including playful sounds and pet locating support. The result is a more responsive robot vacuum and mop that fits your family’s daily routine with less interruption.
- Smart Light Bar — Status Updates at a Glance. No need to open the app or walk over to the dock. This vacuum mop combo features a built-in smart light bar that communicates cleaning, charging, drying, and alerts through clear color cues, so you always know what’s happening.
The company also lists a 2.5-liter dust bag rated for up to 120 days of maintenance-free dust storage, a 7,000 mAh battery and the approximately 95 mm robot height. These are manufacturer specifications and estimates, not independent proof of cleaning performance or battery life. Narwal’s pages describe hot-water figures differently depending on whether they refer to washing or cleaning, so those figures should not be treated as one universal operating temperature.
Narwal announced the Flow 2 in the United States on April 13, 2026, in a press release. On August 18, 2026, Narwal’s U.S. pages showed inconsistent prices and stock states: roughly $1,050 to $1,500 for the standard configuration, with the auto-refill-and-drainage version appearing around $1,200 to $1,600 depending on the page, promotion and dock configuration. Check the live listing before buying.
Privacy is another consideration
Camera-based recognition may be useful, but it is worth considering where the robot operates—especially in bedrooms, bathrooms or homes with children. Review Narwal’s current privacy policy and the app’s permissions before enabling camera-related functions. Do not assume how images are stored, processed or retained without checking the current documentation.

A handheld vacuum fitted with a thin stocking or mesh secured tightly over the nozzle can sometimes collect small jewelry without sending it into the dustbin. Keep the material firmly attached, avoid blocking airflow and stop if the vacuum begins to overheat.
A magnet may help with some steel components, but it will not reliably attract gold, silver or many jewelry alloys. A small metal detector or pinpointer may be more appropriate for valuable metal hidden under carpet or furniture, although performance depends on the device and the earring’s materials. A phone flashlight, macro lens or inexpensive inspection camera can help examine narrow gaps but will not automatically locate the item.
Should you buy the Flow 2 to find lost objects?
Consider it if you already want a premium robot vacuum and mop, value camera-based navigation and broader obstacle recognition, and will treat object recognition as a bonus. It may be especially useful in a home where small objects are frequently dropped—but it should still be supervised around valuables.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not buy it for this reason alone if your only goal is recovering one lost earring, if the item is highly valuable, or if the likely search area is dark, cluttered, heavily carpeted or hidden inside fabric. Independent reviews have praised the Flow 2’s innovation while raising questions about software, performance and value at its premium price; none of that establishes reliable earring detection. A TechRadar report also described the lost-object concept without personally testing the recognition capability.
