The reported enforcement drive followed a fatal building collapse in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli; the report also said more than 398 unauthorised structures under construction had been demolished by the time of the commissioner’s media interaction.
What the reported figures mean
The figures are attributed to Commissioner G Srijana in a media interaction covered by Telangana Today. The report gives the identification figure as “more than 2,700,” not an exact final count. It does not link a property-by-property inventory or explain the count’s date range and methodology.
The reported demolition figure is separate: more than 398 unauthorised structures under construction had been demolished across CMC limits by the time of that interaction. The report does not link primary records or an independent audit confirming those demolitions.
Why enforcement followed the Gachibowli collapse
The identification and enforcement effort continued after a seven-storey unauthorised building under construction collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, killing two workers, according to Telangana Today. The report establishes the deaths and the building’s reported status, but does not establish a technical cause for the collapse.

What CMC says it will do
Commissioner Srijana said unauthorised buildings under construction had been mapped by geographic coordinates, with enforcement teams to demolish them and monitor sites afterwards to deter rebuilding. Her statement, as reported, was: “Every unauthorised building under construction has been mapped using geographic coordinates. Enforcement teams will be directed to demolish the structures and monitor the properties afterwards to prevent builders from rebuilding them.”
