Short answer: Meross’ Smart LED Light Bulb Pro, model MSL120HK, is officially listed as compatible with Apple HomeKit, but Apple Adaptive Lighting is not currently confirmed in Meross’ public product documentation. The bulb supports RGB color, dimming and adjustable white light, but those capabilities do not automatically make it an Adaptive Lighting accessory.

Which Meross bulb is this?

The product in question is the Meross Smart LED Light Bulb Pro (MSL120HK), shown on Meross’ store as a two-pack. Regional versions use an E26 base in the US or an E27 base in Europe and Australia. Meross lists the US version for 90–125 V and the EU/Australia version for approximately 200–240 V, so the socket and voltage must match your fixture.

Meross’ official store listing observed on August 18, 2026, showed the two-pack at $29.99 on sale, versus a regular price of $36.99, and marked it in stock. Prices and availability can change. See the official Meross listing.

What Apple Adaptive Lighting actually does

Adaptive Lighting is not simply a schedule or a tunable-white setting. It automatically changes a supported light’s color temperature during the day: generally warmer in the morning and evening, and cooler during daytime activity. Users can still control the light’s brightness and other available settings.

  • Voice Control: meross smart light bulbs are compatible with Apple HomeKit, Apple Watch, Siri, Alexa Echo, Echo dot, and Google Assistant. Control your smart bulbs via voice command to turn on/off or dim/brighten your smart LED light effortlessly. (e.g. ‘Hey Siri, set the bedroom light to green’).
  • App Remote Control: Remotely control your smart Wi-Fi light bulb via the Apple Home app with a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. No hub is required. Moreover, you can use the Meross app to control it from anywhere (with internet access). All data are securely transmitted and stored in Amazon AWS servers.
  • Upgraded LED Light Bulb: The Meross LED bulb is an excellent upgrade from the previous version, offering 900LM warm white light, a separate antenna for stronger Wi-Fi signal and network stability, and increased LEDs for brighter light and more vibrant colors. With this bulb, you can enjoy a better lighting experience.
  • Color Changing Light Bulb: Set the perfect illumination for any occasion. Dimmable led light bulbs, adjust from warm/cool white(2700K-6500K) to multiple RGB colors. e.g. switch on the smart LED light bulbs before arriving home, dim the smart rgb lights to have a party with your friends.
  • Schedules and Energy Saving: You can set schedules (timers) to turn on/off your smart rgb light automatically based on your routine. Sunrise/sunset mode supported. Only 9W of energy consumed, equivalent to the brightness of a 60W incandescent bulb, saves up to 8.19 $ per year.

A bulb can offer a wide white-temperature range and still lack the Apple Home integration needed for automatic Adaptive Lighting. The MSL120HK is listed with a 2700K–6500K range, but that specification alone does not prove Adaptive Lighting support.

Apple’s current documentation for Adaptive Lighting over Matter says that, in iOS 26 and later, Matter lights need Matter 1.4 or later and must meet Apple’s color-temperature requirements to receive Adaptive Lighting support by default. Read Apple’s Adaptive Lighting requirements.

Why HomeKit compatibility is not enough

“Works with Apple HomeKit” means the accessory can be added to Apple Home and controlled through supported Apple devices and automations. It does not mean the accessory supports every Apple Home feature.

Meross’ product page identifies the MSL120HK as a Wi-Fi HomeKit bulb and lists color, brightness, schedules and remote control. It does not identify Adaptive Lighting, Matter, Thread, a qualifying Matter firmware version or a model-specific Adaptive Lighting release note.

That makes the accurate conclusion narrower than the headline claim: the MSL120HK is a HomeKit-compatible RGB bulb with tunable white light, while Adaptive Lighting remains unverified from Meross’ current public documentation. This does not prove that a later firmware update could never add the feature, but there is currently no public model-specific evidence establishing it.

How to set up the MSL120HK in Apple Home

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the Apple Home app and tap Add Accessory or the plus button.
  3. Scan the HomeKit QR code on the bulb, label or manual.
  4. If scanning fails, choose Don’t Have a Code or Can’t Scan and enter the setup code manually.
  5. Follow Apple Home’s onscreen instructions.
  6. Add the bulb to the Meross app afterward if you need Meross-specific controls or firmware updates.

These steps come from Meross’ HomeKit guidance, which refers to iOS 13 or later. In practice, use current versions of iOS or iPadOS, Apple Home and the Meross app where possible. See Meross’ HomeKit setup guidance.

How to check whether your bulb has Adaptive Lighting

If you already own the bulb, Apple Home provides the most practical verification:

  1. Confirm that the label or packaging identifies the exact model as MSL120HK.
  2. Add the bulb to Apple Home.
  3. Open the bulb’s accessory controls and settings.
  4. Look for an Adaptive Lighting option or banner.
  5. Update the Meross app and check for bulb firmware updates.
  6. Update your Apple devices and home hub, then restart the bulb, iPhone and hub.
  7. If necessary, remove and re-add the accessory.
  8. Contact Meross with the exact regional model and firmware version and ask specifically whether that combination supports Apple Adaptive Lighting.

The absence of an Adaptive Lighting control is not necessarily a setup error. It may simply indicate that the model, firmware, connection method or current Apple software does not support the feature. Apple also recommends checking manufacturer firmware, restarting accessories and home hubs, and re-adding an unresponsive accessory. See Apple’s Home accessory troubleshooting guidance.

Does it need a hub?

Meross says the MSL120HK does not require a dedicated lighting hub for setup and Wi-Fi control. That is different from remote Apple Home access: controlling the bulb from outside your home requires an appropriately configured Apple home hub under Meross’ documented guidance.

  • Dedicated lighting bridge: Not required, according to Meross.
  • Local Wi-Fi control: Uses 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Remote Apple Home access: Requires the applicable Apple home hub setup.
  • Adaptive Lighting: A separate compatibility issue; it does not follow from hub-free operation.

Who should buy it?

The MSL120HK makes sense if you want an inexpensive two-pack of RGB bulbs with Apple HomeKit, Siri control, tunable white light and no separate lighting hub. Its listed 2700K–6500K range is useful for manual color-temperature control, schedules and scenes.

Be more cautious if Adaptive Lighting is your main reason for buying. Before checkout, look for an explicit statement naming the MSL120HK, a current firmware note, and a clear description of Adaptive Lighting—not just a HomeKit badge or a tunable-white specification. A return policy is also worthwhile if the feature is non-negotiable.

  • 【Multi - Platform Interoperability】 Enables simultaneous operation across multiple smart home systems. Boasts powerful interoperability: connect to all apps, control all devices, and link to all cloud services (Specialized in Matter protocol)

Buyers comparing newer ecosystems should distinguish among HomeKit, Matter, Thread and Adaptive Lighting. Matter-over-Thread may reduce dependence on Wi-Fi, while a bridge-based premium system may offer a broader accessory range, but neither category guarantees Adaptive Lighting unless the exact product and firmware say so.

Verdict

Meross’ MSL120HK is a low-cost Apple HomeKit-compatible color bulb—not a product whose Apple Adaptive Lighting support is currently established by public Meross documentation.

Buy it for inexpensive HomeKit RGB lighting if that is your priority. Do not buy it specifically for Apple Adaptive Lighting until Meross confirms the feature for the exact MSL120HK model, regional variant and current firmware.
