The Meraki Espresso Machine Gen 2 combines a dual-boiler espresso machine, grinder, and two scales in one countertop system. That integration may simplify dosing and drink-making, but it also means buying—and servicing—a grinder and machine as a package. Independent reviews provide some hands-on evidence, while Meraki’s detailed specifications and CoffeeSense claims remain manufacturer-published information. Whether the setup is worth its premium price depends on how much you value a guided, compact workflow over the flexibility of separate equipment.
What is the Meraki Espresso Machine Gen 2?
Meraki describes the Gen 2 as a home espresso system with a commercial rotary pump, an integrated espresso grinder, a touchscreen, and built-in weighing for both grounds and finished drinks. Its dual boilers are intended to let the user brew espresso and steam milk at the same time. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independently verified measurements.
Meraki’s published specifications list a 350 ml brew boiler, a 550 ml steam boiler, a 9 bar rotary pump, and a 58 mm E61-style portafilter system. The brand also lists a 2,000 ml water tank, 1,600 W power draw, dimensions of 370 × 370 × 415 mm, and a weight of 14.5 kg. These figures are useful for planning counter space and checking electrical needs, but they have not been independently measured in the sources cited here. See Meraki’s product page and its specifications and review page.
How do the dual boilers and dual scales work?
Separate brew and steam boilers
A dual-boiler layout assigns brewing and steam production to separate boilers, so the machine can maintain conditions for espresso extraction while producing steam for milk. Meraki lists the brew boiler at 350 ml and the steam boiler at 550 ml. The practical appeal is a more direct espresso-and-milk workflow; the available reviews do not establish a universal drink-making speed or performance result for every home setup.

- Professional Home Espresso System: Purpose-built for serious home baristas, Meraki brings precision preparation, guided extraction, and hands-on control into one cohesive semi-automatic platform.
- Independent Dual Boilers: Dedicated 350 ml brew and 550 ml steam boilers support simultaneous extraction and milk texturing, while PID control and a heated grouphead support thermal stability.
- Weight-Based Dose and Yield: Built-in scales measure the ground coffee dose and espresso yield, with stated accuracy within 0.2 g for precise, repeatable recipe control from grinding through extraction.
- Espresso-Tailored Burr Grinder: Dial in different coffees and roast profiles across 45 marked settings with micro-adjustment between steps, supported by anti-static technology and near-zero retention.
- Commercial Rotary Pump and 58 mm Format: Steady 9-bar extraction, controlled pre-infusion, and an E61-compatible 58 mm portafilter deliver professional pressure control and a familiar barista format at home.
One scale for dose, another for beverage yield
Meraki lists two built-in scales, each with a 1 kg capacity and ±0.2 g accuracy: one for weighing the coffee dose and one for the beverage yield. This puts measurement into the machine rather than requiring a separate scale at each stage. Tom’s Guide described integrated weighing for grinding and brewing after using the machine for three months, while TechRadar’s Gen 2 review also noted the two scales. Their observations should not be read as a guarantee that every workflow or result will match.
Grinder and CoffeeSense
The manufacturer lists a 45-setting grinder and CoffeeSense, an NFC feature intended to recognize beans and suggest ratios and grind settings. Tom’s Guide explicitly said its reviewer did not test CoffeeSense, so that review does not demonstrate that the suggestions improve extraction or work consistently. Treat the feature as a product claim rather than a proven reason to buy.

What have independent reviewers actually tested?
Tom’s Guide published its review on October 26, 2025, and said the reviewer used the machine for three months. The review discusses the integrated grinder and weighing, milk-temperature sensing, and a heat-safe steam wand. It reported a $1,999 list price and a $1,799 offer in that review’s context. Its evidence is useful for those reported features, but it is not a test of CoffeeSense.
TechRadar’s May 30, 2026 review covered Gen 2 and described two built-in scales and included accessories. Its reviewer reported a first heat-up time of two minutes and ten seconds and characterized the machine as a prosumer product. That is one reviewer’s observation under their conditions, not a promised warm-up time.

- PRECISE ESPRESSO EXTRACTION: Digital temperature regulation (PID) delivers water at precisely the right temperature, so espresso coffee maker allows for precise espresso extraction
Meraki’s own warm-up figures differ by voltage: about three minutes on 220–240 V and about four minutes on 100–120 V. Those are manufacturer-published claims, while TechRadar’s 2:10 result is an individual review observation. They should not be combined into one universal estimate. Read the reviews at Tom’s Guide and TechRadar.
Is the Meraki espresso machine worth it?
It is most compelling if you want the grinder, machine, and weighing workflow integrated and expect to make milk drinks where simultaneous brewing and steaming is useful. The two scales may reduce countertop clutter and make dosing and yield measurement part of one routine. Buyers should still weigh those conveniences against the premium price and the reduced freedom to replace or upgrade the grinder independently.

A separate machine and grinder can be a better fit for someone who wants to choose each component, upgrade one without replacing the other, or rely on a familiar local service network. A direct comparison with a specific Breville/Sage Dual Boiler model is not established by the reviews cited here: they do not provide a like-for-like current price comparison or a complete head-to-head test. Compare current regional prices, included equipment, and repair access rather than assuming one option is categorically better.

Prices and availability vary by region and can change. The Meraki US product-page snapshot showed $1,799, marked down from $1,999, and displayed “Sold out.” TechRadar’s May 2026 review listed $1,799, £1,599, and AU$2,799. These are dated listing and review figures, not a guarantee of the price or stock available now. Meraki’s page also showed a 4.9 rating from 518 reviews in the retrieved snapshot; that is a seller-hosted aggregate, not an independently audited satisfaction measure.

If considering a separately sold accessory, verify compatibility with the 58 mm portafilter system Meraki specifies.
Buying decision: integrated convenience or separate components?
| Consideration | Meraki Gen 2 | Separate machine and grinder |
|---|---|---|
| Workflow | Integrated grinder and two built-in scales; manufacturer says the dual-boiler system supports brewing and steaming concurrently. | Depends on the selected equipment; workflow and accessories vary by setup. |
| Upgrade flexibility | Grinder and espresso machine are purchased as one integrated system. | Components can be selected and potentially replaced or upgraded separately. |
| Price comparison | TechRadar listed $1,799 / £1,599 / AU$2,799 in its May 2026 review; confirm current local pricing. | Not stated as a like-for-like total in the cited reviews; price depends on chosen models. |
| Service and warranty | Meraki states a two-year warranty and country-of-purchase limitation; verify local authorized service and current terms. | Depends on each manufacturer, seller, and local service network. |
| Independent testing | Tom’s Guide reported three months of use in 2025; TechRadar reviewed Gen 2 in 2026. Neither is a full comparative test against a matched separate setup. | No equivalent setup was tested in the cited sources. |
Before purchase, check the exact generation, local stock and total price, current bundle contents, warranty territory, and who can service the machine where you live. Those checks matter especially for an integrated appliance: convenience is valuable only if the machine and grinder can both be supported over time.
