Mayland Community College has appointed Hunter Dellinger to coordinate its Construction Trade programs within Workforce & Continuing Education. The college says he will help coordinate and develop hands-on training around student and employer needs; its October 5, 2026 announcement describes continuing development, not a launch date for a specific new course.
What Mayland’s announcement means
Dellinger’s role is to coordinate construction trades training and help connect hands-on education with career opportunities and regional workforce needs. Chris Helms, Mayland’s associate vice president of Economic and Workforce Development, said: “Skilled trades are essential to the economic strength of our region, and we want to make sure people in our communities have access to training that can prepare them for those opportunities.”
Dellinger said he was excited to help connect people in the community with careers in demand. The announcement does not give a start date for new classes or specify new credentials, enrollment targets, job-placement results, or wages. The demand and wage-potential language in the announcement is attributed to its speakers, not accompanied by named labor-market statistics.
Which construction trades does Mayland list?
Mayland’s Areas of Study page currently lists these offerings under Construction Trades:
#1 Best Overall
- Carpentry NCCER
- Electrical Technician
- HVAC/R Level I
- HVAC/R Level II
- Plumbing Level I
The announcement separately describes existing Workforce & Continuing Education skilled-trades training in electrical, HVAC, welding, industrial maintenance, machining, and manufacturing. It says construction trades will add another pathway as Mayland develops training in response to student and employer needs. Those existing subjects should not be read as a list of newly launched construction programs.
Mayland’s 2024–2025 catalog describes Carpentry I as covering safety, hand and power tools, measurement and layout, site preparation, footings and foundations, and framing. It says students should be able to lay out and perform basic framing skills with supervision on completion. That older catalog description provides context, but does not establish the curriculum, requirements, or supplies for any newly developed workforce offering.

The announcement does not provide class dates, tuition, registration instructions, or required tools. Mayland’s continuing education page provides general service information, but current availability and course-specific requirements need to be confirmed directly with the college. Do not assume a listed trade or level is currently scheduled at a particular center.
