L’Oréal’s new infrared flat iron is called the Light Straight + Multi-styler. Announced at CES 2026, it is designed to straighten, smooth and curl hair. L’Oréal says its instrumental tests found it worked three times faster and left hair twice as smooth as leading premium hair stylers—but the device is still in development, and those results are company-reported comparisons, not independently verified findings.
What is L’Oréal’s new infrared flat iron?
Light Straight + Multi-styler is a planned hair straightener and multi-styler that L’Oréal announced on January 5, 2026. The company says it can be used to straighten and smooth hair, as well as create curls. It is not the same product as AirLight Pro, L’Oréal’s earlier infrared hair dryer.
L’Oréal’s CES 2026 announcement describes the new device as using near-infrared light. Its claims about speed, smoothness and the device’s mechanism come from the company.
How does L’Oréal say the technology works?
L’Oréal says near-infrared light reshapes hydrogen bonds inside hair fibers. The company describes these bonds as determining hair’s shape and texture, and says the styling approach aims to preserve the natural hair cuticle. The announcement does not provide independent experimental confirmation of that mechanism or of the claimed cuticle benefit.

How much faster and smoother does L’Oréal say it is?
L’Oréal reports that its instrumental tests found Light Straight + Multi-styler worked 3X faster and left hair 2X smoother than leading premium hair stylers. The announcement does not identify the comparison models or give enough test-protocol detail to determine how broadly those figures apply. They should be read as company-reported comparisons, not guaranteed results for every user.
When will it be available, and what will it cost?
L’Oréal says research and development is expected to finish by the end of 2027. In its announcement, the company had not provided a global launch date or price. The cited information therefore does not establish that the device is available to buy.

How is it different from AirLight Pro?
AirLight Pro is a separate infrared hair dryer, not the Light Straight + Multi-styler flat iron. Its results concern drying and should not be transferred to L’Oréal’s straightener.
