Lidl’s £79.99 ceramic barbecue was reported as a compact Big Green Egg-inspired kamado in June 2025. It is not the same product as the larger Grillmeister Ceramic Kamado BBQ on Lidl UK’s separate 2026 listing, which showed a £249 offer and a 40 cm cooking grate. That reservation offer ended in May 2026, so neither price should be treated as a current deal.
What Lidl’s 2025 barbecue offer included
T3 reported on 17 June 2025 that Lidl had launched a compact black Grillmeister Ceramic Barbecue for £79.99, available in Lidl stores at the time. The report described a 23 kg barbecue measuring 43 × 56.5 × 49 cm. It listed a stainless-steel fire bowl, cast-iron charcoal grate, stainless-steel cooking grate, integrated thermometer and bamboo handle. T3 said it could smoke, grill, sear and bake. Those details and the price refer to that dated report, not necessarily to a model currently on sale. T3’s June 2025 report.

What Lidl’s separate 2026 listing says
Lidl UK’s product page describes a larger Grillmeister Ceramic Kamado BBQ. Its £249 offer required Lidl Plus Click, Reserve, Collect: reservation ran from 23 to 26 April 2026, with collection from 30 April to 4 May. Those dates have passed. The page’s specifications are Lidl’s published claims, not independent performance results. Lidl UK product page.

The 2026 report from Ideal Home also described the offer at £249 and said reservation was through the Lidl Plus app. It called the grill Lidl’s first medium-sized model after a miniature version the previous year, and described an enamel-coated ceramic shell, bamboo handles and side tables. What a ceramic kamado can do
A kamado is a lidded charcoal cooker in an egg-shaped format. Its ceramic body and adjustable vents are designed to retain heat and regulate airflow. That makes the format useful for more than direct grilling: a kamado can be used for low-temperature smoking as well as hotter grilling, searing and baking. T3 listed those uses for Lidl’s 2025 compact barbecue; Lidl’s 2026 listing gives a stated temperature range of 50–450°C for its separate larger model.
Temperature range alone does not establish how steadily a particular grill holds a setting, how much fuel it uses, or how evenly it cooks. The cited Lidl details are specifications, not results from a controlled comparison.

Is Lidl’s ceramic BBQ a Big Green Egg alternative?
It is reasonable to describe the Lidl products as more affordable alternatives in a similar kamado format: T3 characterized the 2025 model as inspired by Big Green Egg and Kamado Joe. Resemblance and shared cooking style do not establish equal materials, durability, warranty coverage or cooking performance.

Big Green Egg says its product has been on the market since 1974 and describes its ceramic composition and production. The manufacturer says its warranty covers ceramic for life, with an extended warranty on parts after registration. These are Big Green Egg’s own statements, and the terms differ from Lidl’s three-year warranty listing for the 2026 Grillmeister. Big Green Egg Europe’s product and warranty information.

A useful comparison requires matching more than the headline price. Check the same-date price and availability, grate diameter or cooking area, assembled size and weight, included equipment for indirect cooking, materials, warranty terms and retailer support. The available reporting does not provide a normalized independent head-to-head test across those measures.

In its 18 April 2026 coverage, Ideal Home put a Big Green Egg at £1,495 and named B&Q’s Big Orange Egg and a Habitat ceramic kamado as alternatives. Those are prices and market references from that article’s date, not live quotes; confirm current listings before comparing or buying.
