6 Lavender Crafts That Make Your Home Look Finished, Not Fussy

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Lavender crafts work best when you treat them like small home-design projects, not table clutter. A good lavender project should do at least one of three things: add a controlled scent source, soften a room with natural texture, or help a closet, bath, laundry room, guest room, or entry table feel finished.

For most homeowners, the sweet spot is simple: dried lavender, neutral containers, clean fabric, clear glass, and no open flame. In 2026, beginner lavender projects usually cost between $10 and $75 depending on the scale and whether you already own basic tools such as scissors, a glue gun, a funnel, floral wire, or a small frame. Dried lavender bundles commonly run about $12 to $15 for smaller farm bunches, specialty two-bunch sets often land around $26 to $30, dried buds can be about $15 for a half-pound craft bag, and small bottles of lavender essential or fragrance oil often start around $14.

On our job sites, the same rule applies to decor that applies to finish carpentry: restraint looks more expensive. One visible lavender arrangement and one scent source per room usually reads intentional. Lavender scattered everywhere reads like storage overflow.

Home Safety Notes Before You Craft

Dried lavender is beautiful, but it is still dried plant material. It sheds, collects dust, absorbs moisture, and can burn if placed too close to heat. Before choosing a project, think about where it will live in the house.

#1 Best Overall
CoolCrafts Dried Lavender Flowers, Dry Lavender Buds Bulk for Wedding Toss, Crafts, Sachets - 1/2 Pound
  • Package includes 1/2 pound, meet your various needs, these lavender buds make great confetti for that upcoming wedding as they are extremely fragrant
  • Long-Lasting Fragrance: Lavender dried clean, well screened. These lavender buds are very aromatic and maintain full aroma when in dry form
  • Lavender Crafts: Great for making sachets that can be placed around the house, drawer, closet, wardrobe, cars
  • Widely Uses: Lavender is naturally calming, soothing, and relaxing. Suitable for crafts, decoration, soap making, candles making, bath bomb, sachet bag
  • Gifts and Decorative Uses: Dried lavender buds are often used in wedding favors, holiday gifts, or home decor
  • Keep dried lavender away from flame and heat. Do not put loose buds, stems, petals, or herbs directly into a candle melt pool or near a wick. For beginner centerpieces, use flameless LED candles and place lavender outside the candle body.
  • Ventilate when using sprays, oils, hot glue, or adhesives. Open a window or run a bath fan while mixing linen spray or using fragrance oil. Avoid spraying near HVAC returns, open flames, pets, and polished wood surfaces.
  • Use fully dried lavender. Fresh or damp stems sealed in jars, frames, sachets, or bath salts can mold. If it bends and feels cool or moist, keep drying it.
  • Choose the right fastener. A small 8-by-10-inch frame can usually hang on a picture hook. A heavier wreath on drywall may need a rated hook, wall anchor, or door hanger. Do not hang dried botanicals near a stove, fireplace, wall heater, or candle shelf.
  • Protect smoke alarms and equipment. Never tuck sachets into HVAC registers, dryer areas, electrical boxes, recessed lights, or wall cavities.

If you are making decor for a public event, commercial space, model home, or venue, candles may be treated differently than they are in a private home. Open flames can trigger venue rules, fire-code requirements, or permit reviews. Battery-operated candles avoid most of that headache and are the better choice for dried botanicals.

Lavender Craft Cost Guide for 2026

Lavender is not an expensive material, but the final cost changes quickly based on the container, frame, wreath base, and whether you buy stems or buds. Stems are better for visible arrangements. Cleaned buds are better for sachets, bath salts, and drawer projects.

Project Typical 2026 Budget Beginner Time Best Room
No-sew or sewn sachets $10-$30 for 6-12 bags 30-60 minutes Closets, drawers, linen storage
Pressed lavender framed art $15-$45 45-90 minutes plus pressing time Bedroom, hall, powder room
Lavender wreath or wall hanging $25-$75 60-120 minutes Entry, mudroom, guest room
Mason-jar or bud-vase arrangement $15-$50 20-45 minutes Kitchen table, shelf, guest room
Lavender bath salts or linen spray $12-$35 20-40 minutes Bath, laundry, linen closet
Flameless candle centerpiece $20-$60 30-60 minutes Dining table, entry console, mantel

For reference, 8-ounce canning jars have recently listed around $29.65 for 24 jars, or about $1.24 each. Larger 32-ounce jar multipacks have listed around $30.98 to $36.34 for 24 jars depending on mouth style and brand. That makes glass one of the better values if you are making multiples for a closet system, guest baskets, or seasonal staging.

1. No-Sew Lavender Sachets for Drawers and Closets

If you only make one lavender craft, make sachets. They are useful, inexpensive, removable, and easy to refresh. A good sachet should be breathable, lightly scented, and clean enough that it will not dust your clothes or linens.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Materials

  • 6 to 12 cotton, muslin, linen, or organza bags, about 3 by 4 inches or 4 by 6 inches
  • 1 to 2 cups dried lavender buds
  • 1 to 2 cups white rice or flaxseed
  • Ribbon or cotton twine
  • Optional: 2 to 4 drops lavender essential or fragrance oil per cup of filler

Budget $10 to $30 for a small batch. A half-pound bag of dried lavender buds can stretch across multiple projects if you blend it with rice or flaxseed. We prefer roughly 1 part lavender buds to 1 part rice for drawers. The rice adds weight, keeps the sachet from feeling limp, and prevents the scent from becoming overpowering.

Steps

  1. Mix the dried lavender buds and rice in a clean bowl.
  2. If using oil, add only a few drops and stir well. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes before filling bags.
  3. Fill each bag about two-thirds full. A 3-by-4-inch sachet usually takes 2 to 3 tablespoons of filler.
  4. Tie tightly and shake over a trash can to remove loose dust.
  5. Place one sachet per drawer or two to three sachets in a standard reach-in closet.

Do not over-oil the filler. Lavender oil can stain wood shelves, painted drawer interiors, bedding, and stone counters. If the sachet feels damp, it has too much oil. Let it air out on a paper towel before placing it near fabric.

2. Sewn Lavender Sachets With a Cleaner Built-In Look

Sewn sachets are a small upgrade over pre-made bags. They look better in open shelving, guest baskets, custom closets, and linen cabinets. If your home has built-ins, this is the version that tends to look intentional rather than crafty.

Materials and Size

  • Cotton or linen fabric cut into 5-by-5-inch or 5-by-7-inch rectangles
  • Dried lavender buds
  • Rice or flaxseed filler
  • Needle and thread or sewing machine
  • Small funnel

For a finished 4-by-4-inch sachet, cut two 5-by-5-inch fabric squares. Sew with a half-inch seam allowance, leave a 1-inch opening, turn the fabric right-side out, fill, then stitch closed. A set of 6 to 12 usually costs $15 to $35 if you are buying fabric, thread, lavender, and filler. If you already have scrap linen or cotton, the cost can stay closer to $10 to $20.

Sukh 3oz Dried Lavender Flowers - Make Sachets for Drawers and Closets
  • Lavender Buds: Dried lavender buds, made from high quality French lavender, with elegant purple buds and a pleasantly fresh scents.
  • Wide Application: Good for home DIY projects, such as sachets for drawers and closets, organic lavender soaps, essential oils shampoo, body lotion, candles or toss bags for weddings.
  • Release a strong lavender scent: Dried lavender buds tend to fade after a period of use, but the scent remains in the buds. To release the maximum fragrance, gently crush the buds with your fingers
  • Great for everyday use and for festivals: lavender flowers have a refreshing scent. Good for everyday use.
  • Pack of Lavender: 3OZ to meet your various needs, and the bag contains a small amount of lavender sprigs in addition to the buds

Keep the fabric breathable. Heavy upholstery fabric may look sharp, but it blocks scent. Thin cotton, washed linen, muslin, and tightly woven quilting cotton work well. Avoid loose burlap in drawers because it sheds.

3. Pressed Lavender Framed Art

Pressed lavender is a good fit for bedrooms, hallways, powder rooms, and guest rooms because it gives you the look of botanicals without a bulky dust-catching arrangement. The key is scale. One small stem floating in a large mat can look refined. Ten stems crammed into a frame usually look flattened and busy.

Materials

  • Small frame, commonly 8 by 10 inches or 11 by 14 inches
  • Acid-free paper, watercolor paper, or mat board
  • Pressed lavender stems
  • Acid-free tape, adhesive dots, or a tiny amount of clear craft adhesive
  • Optional: UV-protective glass or acrylic

Budget $15 to $45 depending on frame quality. Use acid-free paper and keep the finished frame out of direct sun to reduce fading. Lavender will still soften in color over time, but harsh sunlight speeds that up.

How to Press It

Place fully dry lavender stems between clean sheets of plain paper, then weight them inside a large book for 7 to 14 days. If you are using fresh-cut lavender, dry it first before sealing it in a frame. Trapping moisture behind glass can leave mildew, brown spotting, and odor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a designer look, use one of these layouts: three vertical stems centered on 8-by-10-inch paper, one diagonal stem on a wide mat, or a narrow row of small blooms across the bottom third of the frame. Hang with a picture hook rated for the frame weight. In drywall, a typical small frame is simple. For heavier gallery frames, use a rated anchor and keep the bottom edge level with adjacent art or trim lines.

4. Lavender-and-Eucalyptus Wreath or Wall Hanging

A wreath is the largest project on this list and the easiest one to overdo. Keep it disciplined: lavender plus one greenery type, a natural base, and one ribbon or wire finish. That is enough.

Materials

  • 10- to 14-inch grapevine wreath, metal hoop, or wood ring
  • 1 to 3 dried lavender bundles, depending on fullness
  • Eucalyptus or one neutral filler stem
  • Floral wire or paddle wire
  • Wire cutters and pruning shears
  • Ribbon, leather loop, or brass hook

Budget $25 to $75. The lavender quantity is the biggest cost driver. A sparse 10-inch hoop may need one bundle. A fuller 14-inch grapevine wreath may need two or three bundles plus filler.

Build Method

  1. Cut lavender into 4- to 6-inch sprigs.
  2. Make small bundles with 5 to 8 stems each.
  3. Wire each bundle to the base, overlapping the next bundle over the wire wrap.
  4. Work in one direction for a clean sweep, or cover only the lower third of a metal hoop for a lighter look.
  5. Add eucalyptus sparingly, then trim loose stems.

For wall placement, treat the finished wreath like any other wall-mounted object. A light hoop can hang from a small nail or hook. A fuller grapevine wreath on drywall should use a rated hanger or anchor, especially near an exterior door that gets vibration. Keep dried wreaths away from range hoods, fireplaces, heaters, and direct afternoon sun.

5. Mason-Jar or Bud-Vase Lavender Arrangement

This is the fastest lavender decor project and one of the best for staging a guest room, powder room shelf, entry console, or breakfast table. The mistake to avoid is using too many containers. Three small vessels in a tight group usually look better than seven scattered jars.

Materials

  • One 8- to 32-ounce glass jar, ceramic vase, or narrow bud vase
  • One small dried lavender bundle with stems intact
  • Optional: river stones, twine, linen ribbon, or a brass label holder
  • Sharp shears

Budget $15 to $50. If you buy jars in a multipack, the per-jar cost can be close to $1 to $2, but the full pack costs around $30. Specialty dried bundles may cost $12 to $30 depending on size, variety, farm, and shipping.

Proportions That Work

For an 8-ounce jar, keep the lavender height around 8 to 12 inches above the table. For a 32-ounce jar, 14 to 18 inches usually looks better. As a rule, the visible stems and blooms should be about 1.5 to 2 times the height of the vessel. Too short looks squat. Too tall tips easily.

Use clear glass for a simple cottage look, white ceramic for a cleaner bath or laundry shelf, matte black for contrast, and aged brass when the room already has warm metal hardware. In humid rooms, use removable jars rather than permanent dried arrangements. Bathrooms and laundry rooms shorten the life of dried botanicals because steam and lint encourage dust and mildew.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Lavender Bath Salts or Linen Spray

Lavender bath salts and linen spray are useful, but they need a little more judgment than a wreath or sachet because they involve skin, fabric, water, and oil. Use craft lavender for scent and decor. Do not assume every lavender product is culinary grade, cosmetic grade, or safe for skin just because it is natural.

Simple Bath Salt Mix

  • 2 cups Epsom salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds
  • 4 to 8 drops lavender essential oil, only if appropriate for skin use
  • 8- to 16-ounce glass jar with lid

Mix, jar, and label. Budget $12 to $35 depending on jar count and oil. Keep dried botanicals modest. Too many buds can clog drains or leave cleanup in the tub. For guest bathrooms, a sealed jar with a small scoop is cleaner than an open bowl.

Basic Linen Spray

  • 4 ounces distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon vodka or witch hazel as a dispersing aid
  • 8 to 12 drops lavender essential or fragrance oil
  • 4-ounce glass spray bottle

Shake before each use and test on an inconspicuous fabric area first. Do not spray directly on silk, leather, unfinished wood, natural stone, or painted furniture. Use light misting only. One or two sprays on linens is plenty.

Ventilation matters. Mix sprays on a wipeable counter with a window open or a bath fan running. Store bottles away from children, pets, heat, and direct sun. If anyone in the home has asthma, fragrance sensitivity, migraines, allergies, or pets with known sensitivities, skip the spray and use a closed sachet instead.

Bonus: Flameless Lavender Candle Centerpiece

Many lavender candle projects look good in photos and perform poorly in real homes. Dried flowers near a wick can ignite, smoke, discolor wax, or create uneven burning. For a beginner-friendly centerpiece, use flameless LED candles.

Materials

  • One glass hurricane, ceramic tray, or low wood tray
  • One to three flameless LED pillar candles
  • Dried lavender stems or buds kept outside the candle body
  • Optional: stones, clear glass beads, linen ribbon, or seasonal greenery

Budget $20 to $60. Place lavender around the tray edge, tied to the outside of a glass hurricane, or under a separate glass cloche where it cannot touch heat. Keep loose buds out of battery compartments and away from charging cords.

For dining tables, leave at least 12 inches of clear table width for plates, glasses, and serving pieces. For mantels and entry consoles, keep the arrangement below eye level if there is art or a mirror behind it. Good decor should not block switches, thermostat controls, smoke alarms, outlet access, or door swing.

Design Rules That Keep Lavender Decor Looking Grown-Up

Lavender has a strong identity, so it does not need much help. Pair it with two or three materials at most. Lavender with linen works in bedrooms and closets. Lavender with clear glass works on shelves and tables. Lavender with grapevine and one greenery type works at an entry. Lavender with matte black, white ceramic, or aged brass reads more current than heavy burlap and distressed paint.

Color restraint matters too. If the room already has purple, lilac, blue-gray, or floral wallpaper, use lavender in a smaller dose. If the room is mostly white, oak, stone, black hardware, or neutral upholstery, lavender can be the soft accent. For staging or resale, use one visible lavender piece per room and keep the scent subtle. Buyers and guests should notice the room before they notice the fragrance.

Plan for maintenance. Lavender scent fades. Sachets may need refreshing after a few months with a very small amount of appropriate lavender oil, or they may simply need replacement buds. Arrangements should be dusted gently or replaced when they become brittle, gray, or fuzzy. In humid rooms, check monthly for mildew odor or discoloration.

When to DIY vs. When to Hire a Pro

Most lavender crafts are good DIY work. Sachets, small frames, simple jars, linen spray, bath salts, and tabletop centerpieces are well within beginner range. You need patience more than skill, and the financial risk is low.

Bring in a pro when the lavender project becomes part of a larger built-in, wall feature, commercial display, or event installation. If you are adding custom closet shelving, laundry room cabinetry, mudroom hooks, recessed display niches, wall paneling, or a hospitality-style guest suite, the decor should be planned around clearances, ventilation, mounting surfaces, lighting, and maintenance access.

OneDove Lavender Buds Dried Flowers, Ultra Blue Grade, 1 Pounds
  • 100% Naturally Dried Ultra Blue Grade Lavender Buds
  • No harmful chemicals, few impurities, very clean, beautiful color and fresh fragrance.
  • Great for Home DIY: Pillow Fillers, Lavender Tea, Sachets, Handmade Bath Bombs, Soaps, Candles or Wedding Toss Gift Bags and more.
  • Food grade vacuum bag packaging, longer lasting smell and extended shelf life.
  • Lavender soothes the mind and body. It's very fragrant, and from smelling it, your mood is soothed. Much better than any artificial lavender bag or chemical potpourri, which is often a headache. Feel pampered and relaxed with our real lavender buds.

Hire or consult a professional for wall-mounted displays over 10 to 15 pounds, installations above stairs, public-facing retail or venue decor, open-flame event setups, electrical lighting near dried botanicals, or anything attached to tile, masonry, plaster, or custom millwork. Those surfaces are repairable, but mistakes are more expensive than a craft-store return.

From a builder’s standpoint, the best lavender crafts are the ones that stay removable. A sachet in a closet, a framed stem on a hook, a jar on a shelf, or a flameless centerpiece on a tray can be cleaned, moved, refreshed, or replaced without damaging the home. That is good design: attractive, useful, and reversible.

How much do lavender crafts cost in 2026?

Most small projects cost $10 to $75. Sachets usually run $10-$30, pressed art $15-$45, wreaths $25-$75, jar arrangements $15-$50, and flameless centerpieces $20-$60.

Is it safe to put dried lavender in candles?

Do not place dried lavender near a wick or in the wax melt pool. Dried botanicals are combustible. Use flameless LED candles and keep lavender outside the heat source.

How long does dried lavender smell last indoors?

The scent fades over time, often within a few months depending on airflow, humidity, and lavender quality. Refresh sachets with a few drops of appropriate lavender oil or replace the buds.

Can I use fresh lavender for crafts?

Use fresh lavender only for open arrangements that can keep drying. For sachets, sealed jars, framed art, and bath salts, use fully dried lavender to reduce mold and staining risk.

Is craft lavender safe for bath salts, tea, or skin products?

Not always. Craft lavender may be intended only for decor or scent. For tea, food, or skin contact, use products specifically labeled for that purpose and follow the supplier’s directions.
