Current reporting describes 120 affordable homes for households earning 30% to 80% of area median income (AMI), alongside a permanent home for the Social Justice Learning Institute (SJLI). The reported $44 million total project-cost estimate is separate from the loan amount.
What the construction loan covers
Urbanize LA reported on October 5, 2026, that LACAHSA had announced the closing of its first construction loan: $7.5 million for Sankofa Place at Centinela. The same report put the project’s estimated total cost at $44 million. That estimate is not the loan principal, and the available reporting does not establish that the loan covers the full project cost. Urbanize LA’s loan announcement is the source for both figures.
The sources do not state the loan’s interest rate, maturity, repayment terms, or disbursement conditions. They also do not establish the final complete capital stack.

Affordable homes and community space
The current project report describes 120 affordable homes for households earning 30% to 80% of AMI and a permanent home for SJLI. The project is described as a joint venture among Venice Community Housing, Linc Housing, and SJLI. Do not read the income range as a full eligibility guide: the cited report does not provide additional qualification rules or a unit-by-unit breakdown. Project status
Venice Community Housing’s project page identifies its partnership with SJLI at 400 Centinela Avenue and lists the project as being in the planning phase, with Aero Collective and The Architects Collective. Venice Community Housing’s project page provides its status description.
How the other reported funding items differ
An April 28, 2026, City of Inglewood staff report recommended authorizing the Los Angeles County Development Authority to issue up to $26,276,000 in revenue bonds or notes for project financing. It also recorded a conditional $2.8 million City HOME funding commitment and a conditional commitment of 59 project-based vouchers. These are recommended or conditional items documented at that point; they do not prove that each item closed or show the final capital stack. The City of Inglewood staff report contains those actions and qualifications.

Why older project figures do not match
A June 15, 2023, Inglewood Housing Authority notice described an earlier proposal with 118 affordable units, 60 project-based vouchers, two buildings, and an estimated total cost of $104,936,302. It also listed a proposed unit mix from studios through three-bedroom units. Those are historical proposal-stage figures, not the current 120-home description or the 2026 reported $44 million estimate. The figures belong to different dates and project descriptions, so they should not be combined as though they describe one current plan. The 2023 Inglewood Housing Authority notice records the earlier proposal.
