Kmart’s Anko Glass Flip Pickle Jar, product number 43270095, has been recalled in Australia and New Zealand because it can break when used to store certain fruit or vegetables in liquid. Fermentation can build up gas inside the jar, potentially causing it to explode or making its lid difficult to remove. Stop using the jar immediately and follow the refund instructions for your country.
How to identify the recalled jar
The recall applies to the Anko Glass Flip Pickle Jar, product number 43270095. It is a glass jar with two compartments designed to store fruit or vegetables in liquid. It was sold from 15 February 2023 through 3 March 2025. These product details and dates are listed in the Australian Product Safety recall notice and the New Zealand Product Safety notice.
Why the jar was recalled
The Australian recall notice says the affected jar can break when used to store certain fruit or vegetables in liquid. Fermented food may build up gas, which can cause the jar to explode or make the lid difficult to remove. The stated hazard is lacerations if the jar explodes or the lid breaks during removal. The notice says, “Injuries have occurred,” but gives no injury count.
What to do if you have one
- Stop using the jar immediately. Do not continue storing food in it or attempt to open it if the lid is difficult to remove.
- Return it for a refund using the route for your country. Australian consumers can return the jar to a nearby Kmart or Target store. New Zealand consumers should return it to their nearest Kmart store.
- Contact the retailer if you cannot return it or have passed it on. The notices advise consumers to contact Kmart or Target in Australia, or Kmart in New Zealand, if the jar cannot be returned or has been sold or gifted.

The Australian notice says the product was purchased through Kmart’s website and stores. The New Zealand notice describes nationwide sales at Kmart stores. The return destinations differ by country, so use the instructions that match where you are.
