Juneau’s October 1, 2026, revised notice for the Aurora Harbor Drive Down Float solicitation, DH26-022, lists an engineer’s estimate of $11 million to $12 million. Online sealed bids are due before 2:00 p.m. Alaska Time on October 13, 2026. The new notice expands the public scope summary, but does not explain which technical requirements changed or whether work described in the earlier notice remains in the bid package.
What the October 1 notice says
The City and Borough of Juneau Finance Department’s Request for Bids No. DH26-022 is for the Aurora Harbor Drive Down Float. Its October 1 notice is marked “SCOPE REVISED” and lists a broad package of marine and upland construction work. It estimates the work at $11 million to $12 million; that is an engineer’s estimate, not an award amount or a final project cost. The City’s procurement notice directs bidders to the Finance Department’s Public Purchase webpage for bid documents.

- Mobilization; demolition, salvage and disposal; and upland improvements.
- Water and fire-suppression systems, a concrete abutment, and modifications to the existing approach dock.
- An approach-dock extension and widening, transfer bridge, drive-down float, transition plate assemblies, and steel piles.
- Construction surveying and protected-species observers.
- Life-ring and fire-extinguisher cabinets; cranes; signage; electrical power, lighting, support assemblies, and associated appurtenances.
The notice states that online sealed bids must be submitted before 2:00 p.m. Alaska Time on October 13, 2026, with public opening immediately afterward. It also says, “Disadvantaged business enterprises are encouraged to respond.” Because procurement details can be updated by addenda, bidders should check the official posting and complete bid documents for current requirements and submission instructions.
What changed between the two notices
The September 23 notice described removing the existing timber float, dredging sediment from a prism around it, disposing of the dredged sediment at a nearby in-water site, and reinstalling the float. The October 1 notice replaces that brief summary with a much longer work list. In the notices, the engineer’s estimate and October 13 deadline are unchanged; the published scope description is what differs. The City’s procurement listing identifies both notice versions.

- 4' X 8' MODULAR FLOATING DOCK KIT – Build a custom waterfront setup with a versatile 4' x 8' floating dock kit designed to connect with additional sections for creating straight walkways, patios, swim platforms, and more. (This is not intended for stand-alone use)
- DURABLE LOW-PROFILE ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION – Built with a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum frame, providing a strong, low-maintenance floating dock designed for long-lasting performance on the water. The low-profile design sits closer to the water for easier access to kayaks, paddleboards, and personal watercraft while maintaining stability.
- FOAM-FILLED FLOATS FOR BUOYANCY – Includes two 48" x 24" x 12" rectangular floats and mounting hardware to provide reliable flotation beneath the dock frame, keeping each platform supported and stable while floating on the water.
- CHOOSE YOUR PREMIUM MAINTENANCE-FREE DECKING – Poly Decking, made from UV-resistant polypropylene with internal aluminum reinforcement, offers a durable, low-maintenance surface that won't rot, crack, or require staining. Aluminum Decking, constructed from powder-coated marine-grade aluminum, delivers exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and a premium appearance with virtually no maintenance.
- MULTIPLE CONNECTION OPTIONS – Choose the connection hardware that fits your dock layout, including No Connection for the lake-end section, Hard Connection for joining 8' sections directly, or Hinge Connection for smooth articulation, recommended every 16' for improved movement with the water. Refer to our informational materials below to determine the connection hardware needed for your specific dock layout and configuration.
The revised summary does not say whether dredging or float reinstallation was removed, retained, or incorporated into other requirements. Nor does the “SCOPE REVISED” label identify changes to drawings, quantities, specifications, or contract terms. The notices alone therefore establish a change in the public summary—not the precise technical revision. Contractors should resolve that question using the full bid package and any addenda.
How the proposed facility is described elsewhere
A 2026 Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation water-quality certification notice describes a proposed vehicle-accessible drive-down float measuring 48 feet wide by 120 feet long, a vehicle bridge, and two 5-ton electric cranes. It says the project is intended to support transportation and safety needs for Juneau’s seafood and maritime industries, with funding from the Maritime Administration through its Port Infrastructure and Development Program grant. These are details of the proposed facility; the current bid drawings and addenda govern the contract specifications. Alaska DEC’s water-quality certification notices.

What bidders should verify
- Open the DH26-022 posting through the City’s Finance Department Public Purchase page and confirm the active bid deadline and submission process.
- Review the complete solicitation, drawings, specifications, and all addenda—not only the short public-notice summary—to identify the controlling work requirements.
- Check whether dredging, in-water disposal, and float reinstallation appear in the bid documents, since the revised summary does not resolve their status.
- Use the solicitation documents for final dimensions, quantities, and equipment requirements; the figures in state and federal notices describe the proposed project and may not capture later contract changes.
