Is the iGulu F1 Worth Buying? A Practical Look at This Countertop Brewing System

The iGulu F1 combines guided one-gallon brewing, chilling, and dispensing. Here is how its features compare with the S1, plus the costs and care to consider.

The iGulu F1 is a guided, one-gallon countertop brewing and dispensing system, not a large-batch homebrew setup. Its case is convenience: add water and a compatible kit, scan the kit’s RFID card, and let the machine manage a maker-defined fermentation program. The decision is whether built-in chilling and dispensing, plus the option to experiment with recipes, are worth the upfront price and repeat ingredient costs for batches of about eight pints.

What the iGulu F1 does—and how much it makes

iGulu describes the F1 as a countertop fermentation appliance with temperature and pressure controls, built-in chilling, and dispensing. Its listed vessel is five liters, while the standard kit batch is one US gallon (about 3.8 liters), or approximately eight pints, according to the iGulu Help Center, reviewed October 8, 2026. That is a modest household batch rather than a full-size brewing run.

The maker’s guided workflow is to add water and a compatible ingredient kit, scan the kit’s RFID card, and start brewing. The F1 manual says the brewer recognizes the card and can report current temperature, pressure, and remaining time. iGulu gives a typical fermentation range of one to 20 days depending on the beverage; that is general manufacturer guidance, not a guaranteed schedule for every batch.

iGulu’s official US homepage displayed the F1 at $749 and the S1 at $549 when reviewed October 8, 2026. Those are volatile manufacturer-listed prices, not a promise of checkout pricing, shipping cost, or third-party availability. Check the official iGulu US homepage before buying.

F1 vs. S1: what the extra money gets

iGulu positions the F1 as its flagship home-bar brewer and the S1 as a starter model. The specifications below are manufacturer claims, not independent test results; prices and product details can change.

Feature iGulu F1 iGulu S1
Displayed US price (reviewed October 8, 2026) $749 $549
Cooling claim Four hours; micro DC inverter compressor 24 hours; semiconductor cooling
Interface Touchscreen LED display and physical button
Temperature range listed by maker 35.6–104°F (2–40°C) 37.4–86°F (3–30°C)
CO₂ adapter Built in External
Standard batch One gallon per standard kit, per iGulu Help Center One gallon per standard kit, per iGulu Help Center

The F1’s clearest practical advantages on paper are faster cooling, a wider stated temperature range, a touchscreen, and an integrated CO₂ adapter. The S1 costs less, but its cooling claim is slower and its adapter is external. If those F1 features are not central to how you plan to brew and serve, the price difference may be difficult to justify; neither set of specifications establishes real-world performance in a particular kitchen.

What can you brew, and how much work is involved?

The available kit selection is the route to different beverage styles, while RFID cards supply guided settings for compatible kits. Before choosing a kit, compare the beverage style, ingredient and allergen list, yield, fermentation duration, batch price, shipping region, and whether its guided settings suit your brewer. iGulu’s buyer FAQ warns that some kits contain barley malt or yeast, so check the ingredient list if allergies are a concern.

The maker’s workflow reduces the number of settings a beginner must choose for a guided kit, but it does not establish that every step is effortless or that every batch will succeed. No independent setup-time, taste, noise, or success-rate testing is available here. The maker’s one-to-20-day fermentation range also means this is not an instant drink dispenser: batch timing depends on the beverage.

Freshness, chilling, and dispensing options

iGulu says the F1 can dispense with its air pump without a CO₂ cylinder, and recommends finishing beer served that way within 24 hours. For beer stored cold in COOL mode with a CO₂ tank, the F1 product page says it can be kept for up to 30 days. Separately, iGulu’s Help Center recommends enjoying a finished drink within seven to 10 days for best flavor. These are different manufacturer claims: the 30-day figure is specifically tied to cold storage with CO₂, while seven to 10 days is the general flavor recommendation.

The product page also lists compatibility with a Heineken 5-liter DraughtKeg using the included AT tube. iGulu says other 5-liter keg formats are not supported at this time, so do not treat this as universal mini-keg compatibility.

Do you need Master Mode for your own recipes?

No. iGulu says some limited built-in recipes can be used with personal ingredients without Master Mode. The optional Master Mode card is intended for owners who want broader manual control over custom fermentation stages, temperature and duration, serving pressure, and carbonation or dispensing settings.

The Master Mode article lists a $100 one-time cost for lifetime access registered to an F1 or S1. It says the feature requires brewer firmware V2.4.7 or later, app version 1.9.0 or later, and a connected, synced brewer. Those requirements and the price can change, so verify them with iGulu before purchase. The maker says the F1 automatically regulates internal pressure for safety; on the S1, Master Mode allows manual fermentation-pressure adjustment from 2–22 psi.

Cleaning and the ongoing cost of ownership

Expect repeat spending on ingredients if you brew regularly: iGulu says a standard kit yields one gallon, and kits are the natural recurring purchase. The homepage also lists pressure bottles, a single-head CO₂ adapter, a one-gallon Tritan fermentation keg, an accessory kit, and Master Mode. Their prices, shipping, and whether you need any of them depend on your use; confirm current details directly rather than assuming a kit or accessory is included.

For care, the F1 product page says to disassemble and rinse the fermentation tank with clean water, and explicitly says not to put the tank or any parts in a dishwasher. The manual includes cleaning and sanitizing procedures for the keg, accessories, and machine. Follow the manual rather than relying on marketing language about cleaning ease; no independent cleaning test is established.

Who should consider the F1?

  • A plausible fit: someone who wants guided small batches, built-in chilling, and dispensing in one countertop appliance, and can use about a gallon at a time.
  • Consider the S1 instead: someone who wants the lower displayed price and can accept its slower maker-claimed cooling, narrower listed temperature range, simpler interface, and external CO₂ adapter.
  • Look elsewhere or pause: someone who wants larger batches, needs independently verified reliability or drink-quality results, or does not want ongoing kit purchases and appliance-care tasks.

The specifications and convenience claims here come from iGulu’s official US homepage, F1 product page, model comparison, Help Center, manual, and Master Mode article. They do not establish long-term reliability, measured electricity use, independent noise levels, or comparative drink quality.
