Is the Firman Tri-Fuel Generator at Costco Any Good? What Buyers Say

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Short answer: Costco’s Firman tri-fuel generator looks like a useful backup-power option if you want gasoline, propane, and natural-gas flexibility, but it is heavy, loud enough to plan around, and not supported by independent reliability testing in the available evidence. Costco’s compared listing for model T07571 showed 4.4 out of 5 stars from 1,405 ratings when accessed in 2026; buyer feedback summarized by SlashGear also includes reports of units that failed out of the box and mixed service experiences. Check the exact model and warranty before buying: T07571 and T07573 are different generators.

What Costco’s Firman generator can do

Costco’s compared listing for the T07571 describes a portable tri-fuel generator with electric start, an 8-gallon gasoline tank, a listed weight of 212 pounds, and up to 12 hours of runtime at 50% load. Its rated output depends on the fuel:

Fuel Starting watts Running watts
Gasoline 9,400 7,500
LPG (propane) 8,450 6,750
Natural gas 6,900 5,500

These are the Costco-listed T07571 figures, not a promise that every appliance combination will run: starting watts cover brief startup demand, while running watts are the more relevant limit for sustained use. Output is lower on propane and natural gas than on gasoline. Costco’s T07571 listing

Do not confuse the T07571 with the T07573

Costco also surfaces item 1900555, model T07573. Firman lists the T07573 in the same broad power class, with 9,400 starting/7,500 running watts on gasoline, 8,450/6,750 on LPG, and 6,900/5,500 on natural gas; its specifications include 120/240 V, an 8-gallon tank, up to 12 hours at half load, and a 211-pound weight. Similar headline ratings do not make the models interchangeable: use the model number on the product nameplate and the exact listing when checking specifications, manuals, and coverage. What Costco buyers and other reviewers say

Costco’s compared T07571 listing displayed 4.4 stars from 1,405 reviews when accessed in 2026. That is a positive retailer snapshot, not a controlled test or a measure of expected service life. Reviews can change as buyers add ratings.

A November 1, 2025, SlashGear article likewise described a 4.4-out-of-5 review snapshot. Its summary says positive users praised perceived reliability, easy starts, useful output, and value; negative reports included units that did not work out of the box, loud operation, and uneven experiences with Firman customer service. These are customer reports as summarized by a publication, not verified failure rates or a representative reliability study. SlashGear’s review summary

One Costco owner’s 2021 T07571 report described loud operation on propane under a mixed resistive and appliance load, as well as a propane cylinder cooling or freezing during sustained use. The owner’s account involved one unit, particular conditions, and a phone sound app, so it cannot establish typical noise or performance. A commenter relayed a Firman support response of 11–14% total harmonic distortion (THD); that is anecdotal and does not establish the T07573’s THD. Costco’s T07571 listing and owner discussion

Is it loud?

Costco lists 72 dB for the T07571, and at least one owner described it as loud in use. The listing does not supply measurement distance and load conditions for that figure, so it should not be compared directly with another generator’s decibel rating unless the test conditions match. At 212 pounds, this is also not a lightweight unit to reposition casually. Think through where it can sit outdoors with safe exhaust clearance, how its sound may affect people nearby, and how you will move it before an outage. Costco’s T07571 listing

Can it run on natural gas, and can it power a house?

Yes, the tri-fuel design supports gasoline, LPG, and natural gas. On natural gas, the listed T07571 output is 6,900 starting watts and 5,500 running watts—less than its gasoline rating. A compatible home gas connection and suitable installation are separate practical requirements; do not assume a connection is included or ready to use.

It can supply selected household loads if their combined running demand and startup surges fit within the generator’s output for the fuel being used. Make a load list before relying on it: identify each appliance’s running watts and any higher motor-start demand, then decide which loads can operate together. The highest advertised starting-watt figure is not continuous capacity.

Operate it outdoors and stay with it

Firman’s operator manual says the generator is not intended to run unattended or to supply life-support equipment. It also warns about exhaust and carbon monoxide. Operate it outdoors, with exhaust positioned safely away from buildings and openings, and follow the exact manual for the model you own. Read the manual before starting or connecting the unit. Verify coverage for the exact item

Firman’s T07573 product page states a three-year warranty, while Costco’s surfaced T07573 page lists four years. The available listings do not explain the difference. Confirm the warranty terms attached to the exact Costco item and model at purchase rather than assuming one term applies to both SKUs. Firman’s T07573 product page · Costco’s T07573 listing

  • Match the model number on the listing, nameplate, and manual.
  • Confirm the fuel you expect to use and plan loads around that fuel’s running-watt rating.
  • Check the warranty terms for the exact Costco item.
  • Plan safe outdoor placement, exhaust clearance, transport, and—if connecting to household wiring—licensed installation of a separate transfer switch.
