The City’s response, as reported at the time, included temporary security fencing and help obtaining cleanup quotes. The available reports document the meeting and the measures discussed in July 2025; they do not establish the property’s condition or legal status today.
What neighbours told the City about 68 Dundas Road
At the 1 July 2025 meeting, resident D Johnson asked what the City could do in the weeks or months before the issue was resolved to help keep families in the street safe. The official minutes record Johnson’s account of waste, police attendance, a syringe found in a laneway, and a fire report commissioned from an independent engineer.
“We’ve got a really big problem at 68 Dundas Road. 740m² wall to wall of commercial waste.”
The minutes attribute those statements to Johnson; they do not independently verify them or include the referenced fire report. The 740 m² figure is Johnson’s estimate as recorded in the minutes, not a City measurement or independently published statistic. Johnson also described the location as a “known drug community”; that is an attributed characterization, not an independently established finding.

PerthNow separately quoted an unnamed resident saying, “This is not hoarding, this is a commercial waste site.” The news report does not identify that speaker, so the remark should not be attributed to Johnson.
What the City and Council said they were doing
The Mayor’s response, recorded in the minutes, said interim fencing was in place and that a motion from a ward councillor would form part of the response. PerthNow reported further details about the City’s actions and the Council’s discussion:
- The City’s environmental health team was aware of the issues and was working with prospective owners.
- Temporary security fencing had been installed, and the City had helped prospective owners obtain cleanup quotes.
- Council noted that work was underway. Officers would consider a City cleanup if circumstances changed.
- Council supported CCTV and planned a review of City policies and monitoring practices.
These are actions, decisions and intentions reported in July 2025. The available reporting does not confirm whether a cleanup, CCTV installation or policy review was later completed.

The July 2025 minutes and news report do not establish the property’s current condition, ownership, legal status or whether the concerns were resolved. The minutes record Johnson’s statement that the property was part of a contested estate, but do not establish its legal status. They also do not provide the independent engineer’s fire report, so the reported fire risk cannot be assessed from these sources.
