Yes—you can watch a Nest camera on a Windows PC, Mac, or Chromebook in a browser. Use home.google.com for cameras managed in Google Home, or home.nest.com for cameras still managed in the Nest app. The camera must already be set up, online, and associated with the account you use to sign in.
Before you begin
- Your camera is powered, connected to Wi-Fi, and already set up in the Google Home or Nest mobile app.
- You know the Google Account (or migrated Nest account) that manages the camera and home.
- You are using a current browser with a reliable internet connection. Google Home for web requires WebRTC and Media Source Extensions support.
- The camera has been added to a home in the Google Home mobile app; Google Home itself cannot be set up on a computer. See Google’s computer and browser requirements.
Choose the correct Nest website
| Camera situation | Use first | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Set up in Google Home | home.google.com | Some controls remain mobile-only. |
| Older camera still managed in Nest | home.nest.com | Legacy account and feature rules apply. |
| Transferred from Nest to Google Home | home.google.com | New live video and history use Google Home after transfer. |
| Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen) | home.google.com | It is not compatible with home.nest.com; see the model specifications. |
When the model is unclear, check its name in the mobile app or on its packaging. Newer cameras such as the Indoor wired 3rd gen and Outdoor wired 2nd gen are Google Home devices, while older Nest Cam, Nest Cam IQ, and first-generation wired Nest Doorbell models may still be in Nest. Google’s camera history compatibility list identifies supported device families.
View a camera at home.google.com
- Open Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, or another current browser that supports WebRTC and Media Source Extensions.
- Go to home.google.com and choose Go to Google Home if prompted.
- Sign in with the account used in the Google Home mobile app.
- Open Devices or Cameras. Select a room if Google Home asks you to do so.
- Click the camera tile, then select its name or live image for the larger view.
- Use the controls shown for that model, such as fullscreen and available camera actions.
Google documents this web path and its device-dependent controls in its Google Home for web help. The browser view is designed for watching and switching cameras, but it does not expose every control found in the mobile app.
View an older camera at home.nest.com
- Open home.nest.com in a browser.
- Sign in with the account connected to the camera.
- Select the camera from the home screen.
- Use the live view, timeline, and other controls available for that device.
This route is for cameras still managed through the Nest app. A legacy Nest account generally must be migrated to a Google Account before its eligible devices can be used in Google Home for web. Transfer eligibility varies by model and account; Google describes the process at Transfer Nest devices to Google Home.

Watch several cameras at once
In Google Home for web, open the Cameras tab to display multiple camera or doorbell feeds. Click an individual tile to enlarge it. This is useful for monitoring several rooms while working or switching quickly between indoor, outdoor, and doorbell views. Availability and layout can vary by account and device; see Google’s multi-camera and history guidance.
Watch or download recorded history
Live viewing and recorded history are separate features. Open a camera’s history or timeline, choose the relevant event or date, and use the save/download command when it is offered. History depends on the camera model, whether it is in Google Home or Nest, whether it was online, and the account’s plan.

| Web location | Download limit documented by Google |
|---|---|
| Google Home for web | Up to 5 minutes per clip. |
| Nest web app | Up to 1 hour per clip for eligible cameras; timelapses can contain up to 24 hours of footage where supported. |
These limits and instructions are in Google’s clip-download help. A website cannot necessarily record any arbitrary live feed; downloading eligible stored events is the supported workflow.
Do you need Nest Aware or Google Home Premium?
A paid plan is not presented by Google as a general requirement for opening a live stream. Subscriptions mainly add cloud history, continuous recording on compatible wired devices, advanced detection, search, and richer event descriptions. Included previews and history vary by model and region.

| Need | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Live video | Usually available through the correct web portal without buying a plan. |
| Recorded events | Availability and retention depend on the camera, app ecosystem, and subscription. |
| Longer or continuous history | Requires an eligible plan and compatible device; event-based and 24/7 history are not the same. |
For reference, the U.S. Google Store listing viewed on August 16, 2026 showed Google Home Premium Standard at $10 per month or $100 per year, with 30 days of event-based history, and Advanced at $20 per month or $200 per year, with 60 days of event-based history and up to 10 days of 24/7 history for compatible cameras and wired doorbells. Prices and features can change; check the current plan page.
Why your camera is missing
- Wrong account: Sign out and use the account shown in the Google Home mobile app. If another household member owns the home, ask that person to confirm your access.
- Wrong website: Try Google Home for cameras in Google Home and the Nest web app for cameras still in Nest.
- Not added to a home: Add and assign the device in the Google Home mobile app; web devices must belong to a home.
- Different home selected: Switch homes in Google Home and verify that you have permission for the device.
- Migration incomplete: Check whether a Nest-to-Google transfer is still pending. Google says an eligible transfer can require a software update and take up to 25 minutes; presence sensing may need to be configured again.
- Unsupported combination: The Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen), for example, cannot appear at home.nest.com.
- Camera offline: Confirm its status in the mobile app before troubleshooting the computer.
Fix a blank, delayed, or buffering feed
- Refresh, then sign out and back in.
- Try a private window and a different current browser.
- Allow cookies and JavaScript; temporarily disable extensions that block scripts, cookies, or media.
- Check the camera’s Wi-Fi and restart the camera or router if it is offline.
- Test without a VPN or on another network if you are on a school, corporate, or restricted connection.
- Reduce simultaneous feeds and close demanding browser tabs.
- For 1080p quality, Google recommends at least 2 Mbps upload speed per camera. That is a recommendation, not a universal minimum; resolution, motion, Wi-Fi quality, and the number of cameras change actual requirements. See Google’s bandwidth guidance.
If live video works but history does not, check the camera’s plan and model support, whether recording was interrupted while it was offline, and whether recent migration left older footage in the previous app. Event-based history does not guarantee continuous recording.

- Meet the wired Nest Doorbell; with 2K HDR video and Gemini, it knows what’s at your door and and what to do next (Gemini features require a Google Home premium subscription; try it for 1 month at no cost to you)[4]
- No need to recharge or replace batteries; the Nest Doorbell keeps you plugged into home, day and night
- The Nest Doorbell keeps your data safe with encrypted video, two-step verification, and enhanced security through your Google Account; and a green LED light lets you know when it’s processing or streaming video
- With an Advanced subscription to Google Home Premium, know more about what’s happening with notifications like “Person with flowers”[3]; get even more detailed descriptions and tap to see a summary of what happened[3]
- Video is crisp and clear in 2K HDR, the Nest Doorbell’s highest resolution yet[1,2]; see rich color and details, see in the dark with night vision, and see the bigger picture with an expanded 166° field of view[1]
When the mobile app is still required
Use the Google Home mobile app for initial setup, adding a camera to a home, account migration, many notification and activity-zone settings, and controls that the web interface does not provide. The computer portals are primarily for browser viewing, history playback, clip saving where supported, and multitasking.
Practical choice for computer monitoring
A wired camera is generally easier to leave open as a monitor because it stays powered. A battery model offers flexible placement but may have different recording and continuous-history limits. If your existing camera works on one of Google’s two web portals, buying new hardware is unnecessary; consider a newer Google Home model only when your current device is incompatible, obsolete, or unsuitable for its location.

Yes. Use home.google.com or home.nest.com after the camera has already been set up. The mobile app may still be needed for setup, migration, and some controls.
Can I watch Nest Cam from Windows or Mac?
Yes. A current browser on Windows, macOS, or Chromebook can open the appropriate Google Home or Nest web portal.
Why does home.nest.com not show my new camera?
Many newer cameras are managed only in Google Home. Try home.google.com; the Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen) is specifically incompatible with home.nest.com.
Can I view Nest footage remotely?
Yes, provided the camera and computer have internet access and your account has permission. History access still depends on model and plan.
