The simplest current method is Google Home for web: open home.google.com on a compatible browser, sign in with the Google Account that manages your camera, select Cameras, and choose a feed. If your older camera is still managed in the Nest app, use home.nest.com instead.
The easiest way to view a Google Nest Camera on a computer is Google Home for web. On a PC or Mac, open a supported browser, go to home.google.com, sign in with the Google Account that manages the camera, select Cameras, and choose a camera tile. You can enlarge the live feed and, depending on the camera and browser, use controls such as full screen, zoom, mute, and picture-in-picture.
This method is especially useful when you want to keep an eye on a house, workshop, entrance, or construction area from a larger screen. You do not need a Google Home Premium subscription just to watch a live feed. The correct website does depend on how the camera was originally set up, however.

Use Google Home for web for most cameras
- On your PC or Mac, open a browser that supports WebRTC and Media Source Extensions.
- Go to home.google.com.
- Sign in with the Google Account used to manage the camera in the Google Home app.
- Select Cameras.
- Click the camera you want to watch.
Google Home for web can display multiple camera feeds at once. Each tile identifies the camera and its location and may show a status such as On, Off, Offline, or Idle. Select an individual tile to open a larger view.
Available controls vary by camera, browser, and device. The individual view may include:

When to use home.nest.com instead
Some older cameras remain associated with the Nest app rather than Google Home. For those devices, try the legacy Nest web app at home.nest.com. Sign in and select the camera to open its live view and any controls available for that model.
Do not assume that every Nest camera has identical features on both websites. The available controls depend on the camera model, account status, and whether the device has been transferred or migrated.

How to view several Nest cameras at once
- Open Google Home for web.
- Sign in to the account that manages the relevant home.
- Open Cameras.
- Leave the camera grid open to see multiple feeds, or select one camera for a larger view.
This arrangement can be practical for monitoring several areas, such as a driveway, gate, material-storage area, or building entrance. Give each camera a clear name and location in the Google Home app so that the web tiles are easy to identify.
How to use picture-in-picture
Google Home for web can place a camera’s live feed in a floating picture-in-picture window. This lets you move to another browser tab while keeping the camera visible.
- Open the camera’s individual live view at home.google.com.
- Choose the picture-in-picture or pop-out control, if it is available.
- Move or resize the floating window while using another tab.
The exact control and available functions vary by browser and device. Some camera-management functions may still require the Google Home mobile app.
Live viewing does not require a subscription
You can access a supported camera’s live video without paying for a subscription. A subscription becomes relevant when you want cloud-recorded history, longer event retention, or—on eligible cameras and plans—24/7 video history.

Google Home Premium features are not uniform across all cameras, regions, or plans. Check the current compatibility information for your specific model before subscribing. A subscription does not turn an incompatible camera into a 24/7 camera.
How to view recorded Nest camera history on a computer
For cameras with supported history, sign in through either home.google.com or home.nest.com, depending on the camera’s setup path. Select the camera and look for its timeline or event-history controls.
In Google Home for web, the timeline appears beside the video player. You may be able to:
- Hover over timeline events to see previews
- Select an event to jump directly to that point in the recording
- Review detected activity rather than watching the entire day
- Save supported clips to your computer
Saving clips
Google documents that custom clips can be created from wired cameras with 24/7 video history, with custom clips of up to five minutes. Battery-powered cameras use a different workflow: the system creates a clip from the recorded event rather than offering the same unrestricted custom time-range process.

Important limitations with battery-powered cameras
Battery-powered Nest cameras and doorbells manage power differently from wired devices. A battery camera may stop live streaming automatically after a period to preserve battery life. That behavior is not necessarily a failed connection.

- For continuous power and 24/7 video recording with Nest Aware Plus, add a weatherproof power cable or indoor stand with power cable (both sold separately)
A Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to power for 24/7 video history. The battery Nest Doorbell does not provide 24/7 history, even when it is optionally wired. If continuous monitoring or continuous history matters, confirm the exact model, power configuration, and current Google requirements before relying on it.
If you are choosing a camera for computer viewing, compare the Google Nest Cam models carefully. Setup path, indoor or outdoor use, power source, web compatibility, and recorded-history features differ. Buying a camera by itself does not automatically include cloud video history or a subscription.
What to do if your Nest camera does not appear
1. Confirm the Google Account
The browser must be signed in to the Google Account that manages the home and camera. If you use several Google accounts, sign out of the others or open a private browser window and sign in only with the intended account.
Also check that you are looking at the correct home. A camera can be associated with a different home in the Google Home app.
2. Check the camera in the mobile app
Open the Google Home app on your phone and verify that the camera appears there and is online. If it is missing from the app, the browser is unlikely to display it until the account or device setup is corrected.
3. Try the other Google camera website
If the camera was originally set up in the Nest app, try home.nest.com. If it was transferred to Google Home, try home.google.com.

An Offline status means the camera cannot provide a live stream or save video to the cloud. Check whether other devices can connect to the same Wi-Fi network, then inspect the camera’s power and network connection.
For a battery camera, check the battery level and allow for its automatic power-saving behavior. For a wired camera, check that the power adapter and outlet are working.

5. Use a compatible, updated browser
Google Home for web needs browser support for WebRTC and Media Source Extensions. If the page loads but the video does not, update the browser and test again. A browser that cannot provide the required media functions may show the site without successfully playing the feed.
6. Temporarily test without extensions
Privacy tools, ad blockers, script controls, corporate security policies, and restrictive browser settings can interfere with sign-in or video playback. Test the site in a private window or with extensions temporarily disabled. This is a practical diagnostic step, not a universal Google-confirmed fix; restore your preferred settings after testing.
7. Update the mobile app before changing setup
If you need to transfer a camera, change its home, or correct account settings, update the Google Home or Nest mobile app first. App labels and setup options can change, and current app versions are the best starting point for device-management changes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you migrate an old Nest account?
An older Nest account created before August 19, 2019 may not yet be migrated to a Google Account. Google may offer migration so the account and eligible devices can work within Google Home and Google Home for web.
Migration is an account decision, not a routine browser troubleshooting step. Google states that migration is optional and irreversible. Before starting, confirm that you are using the intended Nest account and understand which devices, homes, services, and features will be affected.
Eligible legacy cameras can also be transferred from the Nest app to Google Home. After transfer, new camera history is stored and accessed through Google Home and Google Home for web, while some legacy functions may remain available only in the Nest app.

Quick diagnostic checklist
- Correct site: Try Google Home for web for cameras in Google Home and home.nest.com for cameras still in Nest.
- Correct account: Use the account that manages the home and camera.
- Camera online: Confirm the status in the mobile app.
- Network working: Test other devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Browser compatible: Use an updated browser with WebRTC and Media Source Extensions.
- Extensions tested: Temporarily disable restrictive privacy or script extensions.
- Power understood: Remember that battery cameras may stop streaming to conserve power.
- History expectations: Check the model and plan before expecting event or 24/7 recordings.
- Migration considered carefully: Do not migrate an old Nest account merely because the first website did not work.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I view my Google Nest camera on my computer?
Open a supported browser on your PC or Mac, go to home.google.com, sign in with the Google Account that manages the camera, select Cameras, and choose the camera tile. Older cameras still managed in the Nest app may require home.nest.com instead.
Do I need a subscription to watch my Nest camera live on a PC?
No. Google says live video can be accessed without a subscription. A Google Home Premium plan may be relevant for longer event history or eligible 24/7 video history, but it is not required for live viewing.
Why does my Nest camera not appear on Google Home for web?
Try home.nest.com if the camera remains associated with the Nest app. Cameras that appear in the Google Home app generally use home.google.com.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Can I watch multiple Nest cameras at once on a computer?
Yes, Google Home for web can show multiple camera feeds in the Cameras view. You can also open an individual feed and use picture-in-picture when the browser and device support the feature.
Can a battery-powered Nest camera stream continuously?
A battery Nest Cam may stop live streaming automatically to conserve power. A Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to power for 24/7 video history, and the battery Nest Doorbell does not provide 24/7 history even when optionally wired.
The Bottom Line
For most Google Nest cameras, go to home.google.com, sign in with the managing Google Account, open Cameras, and select a feed. Use home.nest.com for older cameras that remain in the Nest app. Live viewing is available without a subscription, but recorded-history features depend on the camera, power source, plan, and region.
