To use a Samsung air-conditioner remote, start with your AC’s exact model number and consult its manual: button layouts, symbols, available modes, and settings vary by model and market. Most remotes include power, mode, temperature, and airflow controls, but the manual is the authority for what your unit supports.
Identify your AC model before using unfamiliar controls
Find the air-conditioner model number on the unit or its product information, then locate the corresponding manual through Samsung support. Samsung notes that remote designs and features vary by model in its Australia remote-control guide and Singapore guide. Its Colombia icon guide also warns that icon availability and appearance differ. Use the manual for exact button sequences rather than assuming that every Samsung remote works alike.
Use the basic buttons to operate the AC
Power and mode
Press Power to turn the air conditioner on or off. Press Mode to cycle through the modes available on your unit. Samsung’s general guidance lists Auto, Cool, Dry, Fan, and Heat, but an individual model may not provide all of them. Select a mode suited to the task: cooling, dehumidifying, circulating air, or heating where supported.
Temperature
Select a mode first, then use the temperature arrows or buttons to adjust the setpoint if that mode allows it. Samsung Australia gives example ranges of 16–30°C for AI Auto, Auto, Cool, and Heat, and 18–30°C for Dry; Fan mode has no temperature adjustment on that guidance page. These are regional examples, not universal limits. Your model’s manual and local market specifications take precedence.

Fan speed and airflow direction
Fan-speed options depend on the selected mode and model. Samsung Australia lists Auto fan speed for AI Auto, Auto, and Dry, and multiple speeds for Cool, Fan, and Heat. On applicable models, airflow-direction buttons control vertical or horizontal blades and can hold them at a fixed direction. Follow your product instructions and use the remote’s controls where specified; do not assume the louvers should be moved by hand.
Understand special functions and their limits
Some Samsung units offer functions such as Wind-Free, Fast, Quiet, Eco, or AI Auto. These are not standard on every model, and some only work in particular modes or cannot be combined with other settings. Samsung Australia says Wind-Free Cooling is available in Cool, Dry, or Fan on supported models; its guide also describes mode and interaction restrictions for Fast, Quiet, and Eco. Check your manual before relying on a special function or trying to activate it.

Set an on or off timer
Samsung Australia describes this timer sequence: press Timer, choose On or Off, use the arrow buttons to enter a duration, then press SET. That page gives a duration range of 0.5 to 24 hours and says setting 0.0 cancels the function. Button names, timing range, and operation can vary, so confirm the sequence in the manual for your exact model.
- Press Timer.
- Select On to schedule startup or Off to schedule shutdown.
- Use the arrow controls to set the desired duration.
- Press SET to confirm.
Identify an unfamiliar remote symbol
Do not identify a symbol from a generic chart if the icon or display layout does not match. Symbols and their availability vary across models, as Samsung explains in its icon guidance. Look up the exact remote or AC model in its manual; this is the reliable way to distinguish similar-looking indicators and understand what each one does.

- Check that it supports the buttons and functions you need.
- Confirm it is intended for your country or product market.
- Distinguish an original or authorized replacement from a third-party compatible remote, and verify the seller’s compatibility details.
A Samsung regional support channel or authorized parts provider may help identify a compatible option; availability varies by location.
