To update what customers see on Google Maps, edit the business’s Google Business Profile. Use Edit profile for regular hours, holiday hours, the official address, and the map pin. If the business location is correct but Google suggests a wrong driving route, report the route in Google Maps instead; changing the profile address will not fix a routing error.
You need to sign in with the Google Account linked to the Business Profile. You can open the profile from Google Search or the Google Maps app. The exact controls can vary by device and operating system, and some profiles must be verified before editing is available.

Choose the right correction before you edit
“Directions” can refer to two different things. A wrong street address or map marker is business-profile information. A bad turn-by-turn route is a Google Maps road or routing problem. Start with the detail that is actually wrong.
| What customers see | Correct workflow | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly opening and closing times | Edit regular business hours | Business Profile > Edit profile > Hours |
| A holiday, event, short closure, or other temporary change | Add special hours | Business Profile > Edit profile > Hours |
| Delivery, takeout, or another service with its own schedule | Add More hours | Business Profile > Edit profile > Hours |
| Wrong street address, suite, floor, or map pin | Edit the business location | Business Profile > Edit profile > Location |
| The business does not receive customers at its address | Hide the street address and set a service area | Business Profile > Edit profile > Location |
| A suggested driving route is incorrect even though the profile location is right | Report the incorrect driving directions in Google Maps | Google Maps reporting flow |
This distinction prevents a common mistake: moving a correctly placed business pin simply because a particular route includes a closed road, restricted turn, or other mapping error. The profile tells Google where the business is. The route-reporting process addresses how Google Maps gets a driver there.

Before you start
- Sign in to the Google Account connected to the Business Profile.
- Have the official business address available, including a suite, floor, or other unit identifier when applicable.
- Decide whether you are changing the normal weekly schedule, a temporary schedule, or a service-specific schedule.
- If you manage several locations, identify the correct profile before saving. Google provides Business Profile Manager for managing multiple locations.
- If the edit controls are missing, check whether the profile needs verification. Google can require verification before profile edits are available.
You can manage a profile through Google Search or the Google Maps app. In Maps, Google’s documented path is to open the app, tap Business, and then tap Edit profile. Labels and available controls can differ between operating systems and devices.
There is no paid hardware, map device, or physical product required. Google describes Business Profile management through Search, Maps, and Business Profile Manager as available at no charge. If you operate many branches, a listing-management service may be convenient, but it is optional; the underlying edits can be made in Google’s own interfaces.
Update regular business hours
Regular hours describe the normal weekly schedule customers should rely on. Keep temporary exceptions and service schedules in their separate fields so the main hours remain accurate.

- Select Edit profile.
- Choose Hours.
- Under Business hours, edit the schedule.
- Check the box for each day the business is open.
- Enter the opening and closing time for each selected day.
- Save the change.
Review every day before saving, including days that did not change. A missed check box can make a normally open day appear closed, while an old closing time can make customers arrive after staff have left. If your account manages more than one location, confirm the branch name and address in the profile header first.
Enter a split shift
If the business closes and reopens on the same day, create two time entries for that day. For example, a schedule of 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5 p.m.–10 p.m. should be entered as two separate periods, not as one continuous 9 a.m.–10 p.m. block. Separate entries communicate the midday closure instead of implying that customers can visit continuously.
Mark a business open all day
For a business that operates continuously, use the 24-hour option for every applicable day. Do not use a long opening-and-closing range when the intended status is open all day.
Show no main hours
If the business does not want a regular schedule displayed, Google documents an Open with no main hours option. This is different from marking the business closed: it removes the displayed main schedule rather than asserting that the business is not operating. Choose it only when the business genuinely does not publish a main schedule; otherwise customers may have no useful indication of when to visit.

Handle holidays, short closures, and service-specific schedules
Google separates temporary changes from the weekly schedule. That prevents a holiday or event from permanently replacing the normal hours.
Use Special hours for temporary changes
Choose Special hours for a holiday, special event, temporary adjustment, or closure lasting up to six consecutive days. The regular weekly hours remain stored separately. Google recommends confirming holiday hours even when they are identical to the normal schedule, so customers can see that the holiday date was considered.
For example, if a shop normally opens Monday through Saturday but closes on a public holiday, leave the weekly schedule intact and put the closure on that date under Special hours. When the date passes, the normal schedule remains ready for the following week. The same field can represent a temporary opening time, such as opening late for an event, or a one-day closure.

Mark longer closures as Temporarily closed
A closure lasting seven or more days, or a closure with no known end date, should be marked Temporarily closed. Do not put a long indefinite closure into a few days of special hours; use the status intended for an extended interruption. This tells customers that the interruption is broader than a short holiday exception.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use More hours for a separate service
Use More hours when a service has its own schedule, such as delivery or takeout. For example, a restaurant may have one schedule for customers dining in and another for takeout. Add the service schedule instead of replacing the main business hours with it.
More hours is for a recurring service distinction, not a one-off date. A delivery window that applies every week belongs with the service hours; a delivery-only change for one holiday belongs in Special hours. Keeping those purposes separate helps customers understand both when the business is open and when a particular service is available.
Correct the official address or map pin
Change the address when the business is shown at the wrong location, has incomplete unit information, or has a misplaced marker. This is the workflow that controls the location customers use when they look up the business.
- Open the Business Profile.
- Select Edit profile.
- Choose Location.
- Under Business location, edit the complete official address.
- Include the suite, floor, or other unit information where it belongs.
- Save the address.
Check the written address and the visual marker as two separate details. A complete street address can still have a pin on the wrong side of a property, while a well-placed pin can be paired with an incomplete suite or floor. Correct both when needed.
When Google cannot find the address
If Google highlights address fields or cannot locate the entered address, correct the highlighted information first. If the address still cannot be found, choose Adjust and move the map pin to the business’s actual location, then save. Place the pin on the customer-facing business location, not merely somewhere in the surrounding neighborhood.
Use official address information
Enter information that belongs in the official address. Google’s guidance allows nearby cross-streets or landmarks when the official address is inaccurate, but it advises against replacing the address with informal directions such as “corner of Main St. and Broadway Ave.” or “across from Central Park.” Those descriptions are not substitutes for the business address.
Use a suite, floor, or other unit identifier when it is part of the official address. Do not use the address field as a directions note or as a workaround for a route problem. If a driver needs a particular entrance, the map pin still needs to identify the actual business location first.
Allow time for the address change
Google says address changes usually take about 10 minutes to show, but some can take up to 30 days. These are timing estimates, not guarantees. If the old address remains visible immediately after saving, allow for the update window before assuming the edit failed. Avoid making a series of contradictory edits while an earlier change is still processing.

Storefront business
A business that serves customers at its own address can show that location on its profile. Enter the complete official address and place the pin on the actual customer-facing site. This is the appropriate setup for a shop, office, restaurant, or other location where visitors are expected to arrive.
Service-area business
A service-area business that does not serve customers at its address can hide the street address and list the areas it serves instead. This keeps the profile from directing customers to a location where no customer service is provided. The service-area setting describes where the business travels or delivers; it is not a replacement for an invented storefront address.
Hybrid business
A hybrid business can show its storefront address and also set a service area when it both receives customers at that location and travels to customers elsewhere. Choose this arrangement only when both parts are true: customers can visit the listed site, and the business also serves an area away from it.
Google says approved service-area edits may take up to 48 hours to appear. Treat that as an expected maximum from Google’s guidance, not a promise that every change will publish in exactly that time. Check the profile again after the update has had time to process.
If the driving route itself is wrong
First confirm that the Business Profile address and pin are correct. If customers are still given an incorrect driving route, the problem is with the route in Google Maps rather than with the business information. Google’s address guidance tells businesses to report incorrect driving directions in Google Maps.
The detailed reporting sequence can vary in the Maps interface. Use Google Maps’ reporting flow for the incorrect route instead of changing the profile address to force a different path. An address edit changes where Google believes the business is located; it does not directly repair a road restriction, turn instruction, or other routing error.
Before reporting, note what is wrong with the route: for example, whether the destination is correct but the suggested approach uses an unavailable road or an incorrect turn. Keep that observation separate from the profile correction. If the destination itself is misplaced, return to Edit profile > Location; if the destination is right and only the journey is wrong, use Maps’ route-reporting flow.

Each location may have its own weekly hours, special hours, service-specific hours, address, and service-area setup. Treat every profile as a separate customer-facing listing even when the businesses share a brand or central management account. A chain can therefore have different holiday hours or service schedules at different branches.
Business Profile Manager is especially useful for identifying the correct location before an edit. It does not change the underlying distinction between regular hours, special hours, More hours, address-and-pin corrections, and route reports; those details still belong to their respective workflows.

The Edit profile control is missing
Make sure you are signed in to the Google Account linked to the profile. If the account is correct but editing is still unavailable, the profile may need verification. Device and operating-system differences can also change which controls appear. Try opening the profile in the other documented interface—Search or Maps—and look for the same profile there.
The hours are wrong after a schedule change
Return to Edit profile and check the appropriate category: Business hours for the normal week, Special hours for a temporary date, or More hours for a service such as delivery or takeout. Keeping these categories separate prevents a holiday or service schedule from overwriting the main hours. Also check for split shifts and confirm that every open day is selected.
The pin is wrong even though the address is complete
Open Edit profile > Location. If Google cannot resolve the address, use Adjust to move the pin to the actual business location. Include unit information in the address itself where applicable, rather than relying on the pin alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Address changes usually show in about 10 minutes but can take up to 30 days. Approved service-area edits may take up to 48 hours. Wait through the relevant window before making repeated edits, then reopen the profile to check the saved values. These windows describe Google’s guidance, not a guaranteed publication time.
Customers still receive a bad route
Do not keep changing a correct address to solve a route problem. Report the incorrect driving directions through Google Maps. The address-and-pin workflow and the route-reporting workflow address different data.
The business has moved
For a move, update the official business location and the pin rather than adding informal relocation notes to the address. Include the new suite or floor information when applicable. After saving, allow the stated address publication window and then verify that the profile points to the new customer-facing site.
The business temporarily stops serving customers at its site
If the interruption is seven or more days or has no known end date, use Temporarily closed. If it lasts up to six consecutive days, use Special hours instead. A service-area business that never receives customers at its address should hide the street address and list its service area, while a hybrid business can show both when both conditions apply.
Practical accuracy checklist
- Use the linked Google Account and the correct profile.
- Put normal weekly times in Business hours.
- Put holidays and short closures of up to six consecutive days in Special hours.
- Use Temporarily closed for a closure lasting seven or more days or with no known end date.
- Use More hours for delivery, takeout, or another service with a separate schedule.
- Enter the complete official address, including suite or floor details where applicable.
- Use Adjust when the address cannot be found and the pin must be moved.
- Hide the street address for a service-area business that does not serve customers at that address.
- Show both the storefront and service area for a hybrid business when both apply.
- Report an incorrect driving route in Google Maps rather than altering a correct business address.
- Allow Google’s stated publication windows for address and service-area edits.
- For multiple branches, verify the location name and address before saving.
- After saving, reopen the profile and check the exact field you changed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change my Google Maps business hours from my phone?
Yes. Open the Google Maps app, tap Business, then tap Edit profile. Choose Hours and edit the schedule. The exact labels and controls can differ by device and operating system.
What is the difference between regular hours and Special hours?
Regular Business hours describe the normal weekly schedule. Special hours are for holidays, events, temporary adjustments, or closures lasting up to six consecutive days. A closure lasting seven or more days, or one with no known end date, should be marked Temporarily closed.
How do I add lunch-hour closures or split shifts?
Create two time entries for the same day, such as 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5 p.m.–10 p.m. Do not enter one continuous 9 a.m.–10 p.m. period, because that would show the business as open during lunch.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow do I show delivery or takeout hours separately?
Use More hours for a recurring service schedule such as delivery or takeout. Keep the main business hours for the overall business and add the service’s separate hours rather than replacing the main schedule.
Why is my address correct but the map pin wrong?
Open Edit profile > Location. If Google cannot resolve the address, choose Adjust and move the pin to the actual business location. Include the suite, floor, or other unit information in the official address where applicable.
How long does a Google Business Profile address change take?
Google says address changes usually take about 10 minutes to show, but some can take up to 30 days. Approved service-area edits may take up to 48 hours. These are estimates, not guarantees.
Should a service-area business display its street address?
A service-area business that does not serve customers at its address can hide the street address and list the areas it serves. A hybrid business can show its storefront address and set a service area when it both receives customers there and travels to customers elsewhere.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How do I fix a wrong driving route to my business?
First verify that the Business Profile address and pin are correct. If the destination is correct but Google Maps suggests a bad route, report the incorrect driving directions through Google Maps. Do not change a correct business address to force a different route.
Why can’t I edit my Business Profile?
Confirm that you are signed in to the Google Account linked to the profile. Some profiles require verification before edits are available, and controls can vary between devices and operating systems. You can try opening the profile in Google Search or in the Maps app.
Is there a fee or special equipment required to update a listing?
No special hardware or physical product is required. Google describes Business Profile management through Search, Maps, and Business Profile Manager as available at no charge.
The Bottom Line
Use Edit profile in the Google Business Profile for regular hours, Special hours, More hours, the official address, and the map pin. Use Temporarily closed for closures of seven or more days or with no known end date, and configure storefront, service-area, or hybrid status according to where customers are served. If the location is correct but the turn-by-turn route is wrong, report the route in Google Maps instead of changing the address.
