OL-AQ11070W100 is generally a complete pool-robot power-supply/control module, not a generic logic board. BWT manuals list AQ11070W100 as an approved power-supply type for several robotic-cleaner families. A working timer or front panel therefore does not prove that the robot-output stage is healthy: one documented repair case found the controls alive while the robot output measured 0 V after an overload. Start with the cable, connectors, fuse, switch, water exposure and mechanical load. Open-board or live-voltage work belongs to a technician qualified to repair mains switch-mode power supplies.
What the OL-AQ11070W100 assembly is
The designation is used inconsistently. BWT documentation identifies AQ11070W100 as a power-supply type, while sellers and repair discussions call the assembly an Aquabot, Aquatron or AquaPower SMART power-supply control unit. Related catalog numbers include AS2720502 and AS2722502-SP; those may reflect a model, revision or supplier catalog difference rather than interchangeable electronics. BWT lists AQ11070W100 and AQ21071W100 as distinct approved supply types in its P-line manual.
Before ordering, photograph the robot model label, complete supply label, PCB revision, connector positions, cable and plug, fuse marking and any damaged components. Match the connector layout, output rating, enclosure and mounting arrangement, and control-panel or firmware compatibility. Never order solely from the words “Aquabot power supply.”
Safety gate before troubleshooting
- Disconnect mains power before removing covers or checking continuity. Primary capacitors can retain hazardous charge after unplugging.
- Do not operate the cleaner out of water. The manufacturer warns that doing so can cause immediate damage and may void the warranty; use the supplied supply and original parts. See the BWT manual.
- Drying a wet unit is not a repair. Corrosion, carbonized leakage paths and compromised insulation can remain.
- Live measurements on a mains-connected switch-mode supply require isolation, current limiting, correctly rated probes and safe creepage/clearance practice. Never clip an oscilloscope ground to a potentially non-isolated primary node.
Match the symptom to the likely fault area
| Symptom | Areas to inspect first |
|---|---|
| No lights or display | AC cord and input, fuse, switch, primary power section and connectors |
| Front panel or timer works, robot does not move | Robot cable, motor load, output switching stage, output enable circuit or processor-controlled output |
| Output appears briefly then collapses | Shorted cable or motor, overcurrent protection, damaged output transistor or controller |
| Fuse blows immediately | Primary rectifier, bridge, bulk capacitor, switching IC/MOSFET or a severe downstream fault |
| Viper12/Viper12A and a nearby Zener are burned | Primary converter, startup, clamp/snubber, feedback and secondary circuits—not just the visible IC |
| Intermittent or erratic operation after rain | Moisture residue, corrosion, tracking and contaminated connectors |
| Stopped while collecting leaves or debris | Mechanical overload, stalled motor, blocked intake or cable stress |
The overload and “front panel alive, output dead” pattern is documented in one repair report, not a universal diagnosis. That report described approximately 5 V control-panel power but no approximately 29 V robot output, and the technician ultimately suspected processor damage. Treat those figures as reported board-revision measurements, not manufacturer test specifications. See the repair discussion.

Owner-safe checks
- Disconnect power and remove the robot from the pool.
- Clear mechanical obstructions. Remove leaves, string and debris from the impeller, intake, brushes, tracks and wheels. Check that moving parts are not seized.
- Inspect the robot cable. Look for cuts, crushing, kinks, swollen sections or water entry. Check both plugs for corrosion, bent pins, looseness or heat damage.
- Confirm the original supply. Do not substitute an arbitrary adapter or another AQ-series unit without written compatibility confirmation.
- Check the external fuse and switch with power disconnected. Replace a fuse only with the same type and rating; a fuse that has not opened does not prove the electronics are undamaged.
- Dry and inspect after water exposure. Disconnect immediately, allow complete drying, then inspect both PCB sides and connectors. Severe corrosion or carbon tracking calls for replacement or professional assessment.
Do not repeatedly force a stalled robot to start. A jammed impeller, seized drive motor, blocked intake or damaged cable can impose abnormal current or transient stress; the documented repair case linked failure to a robot bogged down by debris.
Technician-level electrical checks
De-energized tests
- Inspect for cracked semiconductors, soot, lifted pads, burned resistors, split or bulging capacitors, cracked solder joints, corrosion and water tracks.
- Check cable continuity end-to-end and inspect connectors under magnification.
- Check for an obvious short between output conductors, while recognizing that motor windings and electronic loads make simple resistance readings inconclusive.
- Check fuse and switch continuity. Compare diode readings cautiously because parallel circuit paths distort in-circuit measurements.
Live tests
Only a qualified mains technician should verify AC input, startup of the primary converter, the low-voltage logic rail and whether the robot-output rail appears and remains stable with the correct load. A missing rail, a rail that collapses under load, and an output-enable signal that never asserts point to different fault paths. Do not short the output or attach a random substitute load. The approximately 5 V and 29 V observations above come only from the reported repair case.

If Viper12 or Viper12A is destroyed
Replacing the visible offline-converter IC alone is often unsuccessful. Inspect the startup-resistor network, primary rectifier and bulk capacitor, current-sense path, drain clamp/snubber, transformer and insulation, secondary rectifier, feedback reference, optocoupler, output capacitors, downstream switching device and processor supply. Check for carbonized PCB material and damaged copper traces.
The public repair discussion mentions damage around C1 and R20 and an unreadable Zener, but it does not verify their values. Do not guess values for C1, R20, D3 or the Zener.

A Zener is not a TL431
A Zener diode and a TL431 adjustable shunt reference have different pinouts, bias requirements and circuit functions. A TL431 is a valid substitute only when the surrounding circuit was designed or deliberately modified for it. Identify an unknown Zener from an intact board of the same revision, manufacturer documentation, a traced circuit, a known-good module or an authorized repair source. In the reported case, substituting a TL431 and later another Zener did not restore output; that does not establish the correct value or show that the Zener was the only failed part.
About the suggested 1N5818B
A forum participant suggested a 1N5818B (described there as a 30 V, 1 A Schottky diode). This is an unverified community lead, not an official specification. Before fitting any diode, confirm polarity, reverse-voltage rating, forward and surge current, switching frequency, package, thermal conditions and whether its position is primary-side, secondary-side, clamp, snubber or signal circuitry.

Repair or replace the complete module?
| Option | Advantages | Risks and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Component-level repair | May be economical for a fuse, connector, capacitor or clearly identified diode; preserves the original assembly. | No verified public schematic or service procedure; hidden primary, secondary or processor damage is common; mains hazards and diagnostic labor can exceed module value. |
| Complete compatible module | Usually faster and more predictable when the output stage or custom processor is damaged. | New stock may be expensive or unavailable; used history is uncertain; a jammed robot, wet cable or overloaded motor can destroy the replacement. |
Choose component repair only if the technician can trace the circuit, positively identify parts, safely work on isolated mains SMPS circuitry and verify that the robot and cable are healthy. Prefer replacement when the processor may be damaged, the PCB is carbonized or corroded, several stages failed, or no reliable component data exists.

When to stop and seek professional service
Stop owner-level troubleshooting if the fuse repeatedly opens, the primary section is burned, the board has carbon tracking or extensive water damage, the isolation barrier is compromised, or live output testing is required. A complete module is not a cure for a shorted motor or damaged cable; correct the external fault first or the replacement may fail in the same way.
