Most Samsung soundbars and their bundled wireless subwoofers connect automatically. Plug both units into power, turn on the soundbar, and wait for the subwoofer’s rear LINK light to turn solid blue. If the light keeps blinking blue, manually pair the units with the subwoofer’s ID SET button.
“Sync” can also mean correcting a delay between the TV picture and sound. That is a separate Audio Sync adjustment and will not repair a lost subwoofer connection.

First, identify the problem
- Blinking blue LINK light or no bass: the subwoofer probably needs to be paired with the soundbar.
- Solid blue LINK light but no bass: check the audio source, TV output, volume, subwoofer level, and sound mode.
- Sound is delayed relative to the picture: use the soundbar’s Audio Sync controls rather than ID SET.
Check compatibility before pairing
Samsung wireless subwoofers are not universally interchangeable. Find the model number on the rear or underside of both units, then check the soundbar’s manual or Samsung’s compatibility list. A Samsung subwoofer purchased separately may not work with your Samsung soundbar.
You will usually need the original soundbar remote for manual pairing. Examples of model-specific accessories include the SWA-W510 for selected S-series soundbars, the SWA-W500 for certain systems such as the HW-S60T, and the SWA-W700 for some older HW-MS and HW-NW models. Confirm the exact model before buying.

- Plug both units into wall power.
- Turn on the soundbar.
- Wait for the wireless connection to complete.
- Check the indicator on the back of the subwoofer.
A solid blue LINK light normally confirms a successful connection. If it continues blinking, unplug only the subwoofer, wait about five seconds, and reconnect it while leaving the soundbar powered. Samsung describes this as a common first recovery step in its support guidance.
Manually pair the subwoofer with ID SET
The following is Samsung’s most common procedure, but button names and timing vary by model. If your model’s manual specifies Up, VOL, or another command instead of Mute, follow the model-specific instructions.

- Turn the soundbar off. Leave both units connected to power.
- On the back of the subwoofer, press and hold ID SET with a paper clip or similarly narrow object.
- Continue holding until the standby indicator turns off and the blue LINK light begins blinking rapidly.
- With the soundbar still off, press and hold Mute on the soundbar remote.
- Keep holding until ID SET appears on the soundbar display. The message may appear only briefly.
- Turn on the soundbar while the subwoofer’s blue LINK light is still blinking.
- Wait for the LINK light to become solid blue.
If Mute does nothing, stop and check the exact manual rather than repeatedly forcing the same sequence. Some Samsung models use the remote’s Up button, VOL, or a physical ID SET control on the soundbar. Samsung documents these variations in its U.S. pairing guide and wireless-speaker instructions.

If the LINK light is solid but the subwoofer is silent
- Raise the soundbar volume and make sure it is not muted.
- Test a movie, music track, or other source known to contain bass.
- Confirm the TV is sending audio to the soundbar rather than its internal speakers.
- Check the soundbar input and the TV’s digital audio-output setting.
- Power-cycle both units.
- Check that the LINK light remains solid blue.
- Increase the soundbar’s subwoofer level if it has been reduced.
- Try another sound mode and another source.
- Check both power cables and their connections.
Weak bass is not necessarily a pairing failure. Placement, source content, sound mode, and the subwoofer-level setting can all affect what you hear. Samsung’s no-sound troubleshooting guidance recommends checking volume, TV output, cables, and power before assuming the subwoofer is defective.

Reduce wireless interference
Keep the subwoofer in the same room as the soundbar where possible, leave the area around both wireless units clear, and avoid enclosing the subwoofer in a cabinet. Move it away from routers and other high-traffic wireless equipment if practical.
Distance limits depend on the soundbar, room, obstructions, and radio interference. Samsung gives an approximately 10-metre maximum for one cited setup, but that should not be treated as a universal limit for every model. Moving the units closer can help, but it will not fix an incompatible replacement or an incorrect ID SET procedure.

Pairing after a reset, repair, or replacement
Manual pairing may be required after replacing either unit, servicing the soundbar or subwoofer, performing a factory reset, relocating the equipment, or losing the connection after a power interruption. A replacement subwoofer must still be listed as compatible with the exact soundbar model. Secondhand units may be defective or associated with another system, so verify the model and buy from a source with a suitable return policy.
Correct TV audio delay with Audio Sync
If the subwoofer is connected and bass is present but dialogue does not match the picture, use the soundbar remote’s Audio Sync button, if available. On some models, press Sound Control and navigate to Audio Sync, then use the + or − controls. Make small adjustments while testing dialogue-heavy content.
