There is no universal storage percentage or LED count. A Westinghouse manual calls for 50% capacity every six months for the applicable 24V lithium-ion packs, while two Toro manuals specify different green-LED targets. Those figures are model-specific examples, not a standard for every cordless snow blower.

Use this shutdown sequence at the end of the season
Work through the same safety order every time. The auger, impeller and other moving parts can continue to coast after the switch is turned off, so do not reach into the housing or begin cleaning until movement has completely stopped.

Move the blower to a level, sheltered area away from traffic and standing water. Set the controls to the position specified for shutdown in the owner’s manual.
- Switch the machine off and wait. Keep clear of the auger, impeller, chute and wheels until all motion has stopped.
- Remove the key, safety device or other starting control. Use the exact isolation procedure in the manual for your model.
- Remove the battery. Release the pack using its designed latch and lift it out only after the machine is off and motionless. A removable pack should not remain in the blower during storage.
- Clear snow and debris. Clean the housing, chute, controls, wheels and other areas where packed snow, salt or plant material has collected. Follow the manual’s approved cleaning method.
- Let the blower dry and inspect it. Look for looseness, worn parts, damage, missing fasteners, impaired safety features and problems around the battery connection before putting the machine away.
- Store the machine, battery and charger separately. Place each item in a dry location and apply the temperature, moisture and charge instructions for that exact model and battery pack.
If the manual gives a different shutdown order, its procedure controls. In particular, do not bypass a safety key, interlock or battery-locking mechanism to make storage quicker.

Clean the blower without creating a battery hazard
Remove packed snow and debris from the machine
Snow that melts and refreezes can bind controls, corrode fasteners or leave abrasive grit in the auger area. Clear residue from the auger housing, chute, deflector, wheels, handles and vents using the cleaning approach allowed by the owner’s manual. Pay attention to de-icing salts and corrosive garden chemicals; keep them away from the stored machine when the manual calls for that precaution.
Do not start the blower to “shake out” debris while you are cleaning or inspecting it. The safe sequence is power off, wait for all movement to stop, isolate the starting control, remove the battery and then clean.
Keep the battery pack and charger dry
Battery packs and chargers are not interchangeable with the machine’s exterior cleaning routine. The cited manuals warn not to wet battery packs or chargers. Keep spray, meltwater and condensation away from their vents, contacts and housings. The Westinghouse manual also warns against applying oil or solvents to its battery casing. Use only the cleaning and care method specified for your pack; never immerse, hose down or solvent-clean a battery or charger.
Dry the machine before covering it
After cleaning, leave the blower in a protected place until visible moisture has dried. Do not seal a wet machine under a cover or put a damp battery in a closed container. A dry machine is easier to inspect and less likely to carry hidden meltwater into the storage area.
Inspect wear, fasteners and safety parts before storage
Storage is the point at which a small defect can be found without delaying the next storm. With the battery removed, inspect the items your model’s manual identifies, including:

- Auger, impeller and chute components for damage, excessive wear or obstruction.
- Auger belts or other wear parts where the model’s maintenance schedule lists them.
- Bolts, knobs, guards and other fasteners for looseness or missing hardware.
- Handles, wheels, scraper or skid components and any visible housing damage.
- Safety controls, switches, keys and interlocks for damage or abnormal operation.
- The battery release and locking mechanism for secure engagement and clean contacts.
- The charger, charging lead and electrical connections for damage or contamination.
Do not improvise a repair or install a generic replacement merely because it fits. If an inspection identifies a failed or worn component, use the exact model documentation to identify an approved part and repair method. Husqvarna’s maintenance guidance, for example, calls for seasonal auger-belt and electrical-connection checks and says to use genuine spare parts for its battery snow blowers; that is a manufacturer-specific instruction, not a universal parts policy.
Choose a safe storage location for the blower
Machine location
Keep the blower indoors in a clean, dry place where children cannot access it. A locked shed, garage or equipment room can work when it stays within the temperature and moisture limits in the manual. Do not store the machine where roof leaks, condensation, flooding or blowing snow can reach it.

Salt residue left on a machine can continue attacking metal and electrical connections during the months when the blower is not used.
Battery and charger location
Store the battery and charger away from moisture and separately from the machine. The exact battery manual controls the permitted storage temperature. A location that is comfortable for the blower may still be unsuitable for a lithium-ion pack if it becomes excessively hot or cold. Do not leave a battery or charger in a place exposed to rain, snow, irrigation or persistent condensation.
Do not disassemble a battery pack or charger for storage. If a casing, connector or charging lead is damaged, stop and use the service or replacement procedure in the applicable manual.

Follow the exact battery’s off-season charge instruction
Charge targets differ by battery system, indicator design and model. Copying a percentage or LED count from another snow blower can leave your pack overcharged, depleted or outside the manufacturer’s intended maintenance cycle. Check both the snow blower manual and the battery or charger documentation, then record the model number so the instruction can be matched to the pack you actually own.

The Toro instructions also warn against storing the battery fully charged or fully depleted. Follow the indicator range in the manual for your model rather than assuming that a “full” light pattern is appropriate for months of storage.
Westinghouse temperature warning
The WSnow22 manual warns that permanent capacity loss can result if the pack is stored for long periods above 120°F/49°C. Treat that as a warning for the battery system covered by that manual, not as a guaranteed threshold for every lithium-ion pack. Your own battery documentation may specify a different storage range or additional limits.
Schedule periodic checks only when the manual requires them
If the battery manual calls for a periodic recharge, put the interval on a calendar. Under the Westinghouse instruction above, the check occurs every six months. If your manual gives a different interval, use that interval. Do not repeatedly top up a pack on a schedule copied from another model.
A manufacturer maintenance schedule can guide your calendar
Husqvarna’s official battery snow blower guidance provides one example of how to organize checks. It recommends a general check before each use, monthly checks of the battery release and locking function and charger condition, and seasonal checks of the auger belt and battery or electrical connections.

Use this as an example of a structured maintenance calendar, not as a schedule that automatically applies to every brand. The manufacturer says to follow the maintenance schedule for the specific model and to use genuine Husqvarna spare parts for its equipment. Your manual may omit some checks, add others or set different intervals.
Prepare the blower before the first storm
Spring storage is not complete until the machine is checked again before use. A storage charge target is not necessarily the same as a ready-to-use charge target.
- Read the model and battery labels. Confirm that the battery, charger and blower belong to the same approved system and that you are using the correct manuals.
- Inspect the stored machine. Look for corrosion, loose fasteners, cracks, damaged guards, blocked vents and wear in the auger, chute, wheels and other listed components.
- Check safety controls. Verify the key, switch, interlock and other safety devices operate as described. Do not operate if a safety feature is damaged or defeated.
- Inspect the battery and charger. Check the pack casing, release and contacts, then examine the charger and cable. Keep moisture away from both.
- Install the battery correctly. Engage the locking mechanism fully and confirm the pack is secure before attempting to start the machine.
- Charge for operation. Use the charge level and charging procedure specified for use in the exact manual. Do not assume that the off-season indicator range is a full operating charge.
- Resolve defects before snow arrives. Obtain model-approved repairs or replacement parts for worn belts, damaged connections, defective controls or other problems found during inspection.
Common storage mistakes and how to correct them
Leaving the battery installed
A removable battery should be taken out after shutdown and stored separately. If you discover that it was left in the blower, switch the machine off, wait for all movement to stop, remove the key or safety device and then remove the pack. Inspect the contacts and follow the exact storage-charge instruction before putting it away.
Putting the blower away wet
Move a damp machine to a protected dry area and allow it to dry before covering or storing it. Keep the battery and charger away from that moisture; do not wet them as part of cleaning.

Using another model’s percentage or LED count
Stop and identify the exact battery model. The examples above include 50% with two lights, one or two green LEDs and two or three green LEDs. Those differences are why a universal percentage is unsafe to publish or assume.

Storing the pack in extreme heat
Check the temperature limits in the battery manual. For the Westinghouse system cited above, long storage above 120°F/49°C is specifically associated with a risk of permanent capacity loss. Move the pack to a location within the stated range; do not rely on an unverified “garage temperature” assumption.
Ignoring wear until the next snowfall
Record defects when you find them and arrange the model-approved repair before the next season. A loose fastener, worn belt, damaged connection or faulty safety control should not be treated as a seasonal surprise.
Trying to repair the battery or charger internally
Do not disassemble either unit. Use the service, replacement or authorized repair path specified by the manufacturer for the exact model.

How to read your manuals efficiently
When instructions appear to conflict, first confirm that you are comparing the same machine model, battery voltage, pack number and regional manual. A snow blower manual may describe the machine while a separate battery or charger manual supplies the storage temperature and charging procedure.
- Find the sections titled storage, off-season storage, battery care, charging, maintenance and safety.
- Write down the exact charge indicator or percentage, the required recharge interval and the permitted storage-temperature range.
- Note whether the manual requires removal of a key, safety device or battery before cleaning and storage.
- List the inspection intervals and named wear parts, such as an auger belt or electrical connection.
- Keep the manuals with the equipment or save the manufacturer’s current documentation so the instructions are available next season.
If the machine manual and battery manual provide different details, do not average them. Contact the manufacturer or an authorized service channel for clarification before storing or charging the pack.
